Hi, all: I've been poking around the site for a couple weeks now and just had a few questions about the general make-up and function of Legion World. I apologize in advance if the answers to these are self-evident to the rest of you, but c'mon - help a newb out: 1. I keep seeing reference to "Scott" and "Gary". I'm assuming these are the site owners/founders and I believe, through context, that they are the posters "Nightcrawler" and "Lightning Lad". Is this correct? 2. In addition to the above two, are there also posters among you who act as moderators? If so, who are they? 3. I keep seeing a solicitation to vote for the "Leader." What is the function of the MB leader? 4. And finally, and perhaps most naively, the LMBP - I gather from context that this is like a decade-long shared fan-fic in which you all have corresponding characters. Is that correct, or have I stated it a bit too formally? Thanks in advance for any info, -Still Learnin' -Ex

1. Yes, although Scott is Lightning Lad and Gary is Nightcrawler.
2. Yes; the mods (or "advisors" in LW parlance) for each board are listed at the top left of your screen, right under the name of the board.
3. Generally, the Leader's only official duty has been to set up and conduct the election for the next Leader. His/her/its function is mostly ceremonial, but in the past, Leaders have used their term as a basis for tag-team and individual (i.e., "OneVision") story threads centered on a specific theme or event, sometimes parodying contemporary Legion and/or DCU story lines.
4. "LMBP" stands for Legion of Message Board Posters, which started in March of 2000 on the DC message boards. See Cobie's "A Written History of the LMBP" on the Encyclopedia Galactica board for a very thorough history of the various characters, stories, leader elections, and other general fun stuff over the years.

Ex, 1. Gary (the site owner) is Nightcrawler and Scott is Lightning Lad and they administer the site. 2. Each board has its own moderators, a list of which can be found at the top of each board's page. 3. There is an LMBP leader (currently Faraway Lad), but in reality, that person's only duty is to run the election of the next leader. 4. The LMBP or LMB is the Legion of Message-Board Posters and is a shared universe to which many members of Legion World contribute. It has existed since 2000, long before Legion World (or my involvement) which dates from 2003 (and 2005 for me! ) In it, I play the part of Rockhopper Lad and so on. Does that sort of answer it?

You're very welcome. We've created a wonderful community here on this site, but there are some aspects of it that can be a little confusing. It took me a while to figure some of it out too.

Exnihil, in regrds to the LMBP, don't be intimidated by the long almost 10-year history of it. Very few of have been around for that long (I'm one), but most have joined up over the years individually or in waves. For example, Stu joined in 2001, Kent Shakespeare in 2003, Rocky in 2005 etc, etc. Its an evolving thing that is very open to newcomers as we really appreciate fresh blood, stories, perspectives.

Hopefully I've gotten to you in time. Rockhopper and Cobalt are big fat liars -- in fact I think they're the same person. 1. Scott is the independently wealthy great-grandson Clarence Scott, co-founder of the Scott paper company. Gary is none other than Gary Fisher, world famous mountain bike mogul. 2. Anyone can be a moderator just by sending me $500 via Pay Pal and ummm... taking the oath of secrecy and moderation. 3. The Leader buys all the beer at the bi-weekly LegionWorld snipe hunting expeditions. 4. LMBP is the Lake Michigan Boat Party. Wow! It's lucky I got to you before you started acting on the false information from that Rockhopper/Cobalt Fellow. Welcome aboard! Watch your back.

Harumph! I am not fat! [/b] But he IS "phat"! (Wow, does anyone say that anymore? )[/b]Sure, the Board-E counterpart to Fat Cramer is Phat Kramer. However, the Board-E timeline takes place about six years in the past, so "phat" wasn't quite so dated back then!

It's okay, I'm actually okay with being dated. And Exnihil, let us know if you need a lift to the next Lake Michigan Boat Party regatta.
