Don't feel bad, Cobalt. Marvel's been sitting on this pretty well. Even I didn't know about it, and I hear *everything*. I'd only heard the word of this about a day or two before the solicits got out, and only learned of Cockrum's involvement a few hours previously. J

This is great, but I thought Joe Q said Dave's art isn't suitable for the modern comic audience.
Regardless, I'll buy at least 2.

Dave had this to say over at Nightscrawlers today: Nobody told me not to talk about it, so I'll tell what I know about it: I'm doing an eight page story, plus the cover. Or most of the cover, anyway. They're having John Cassaday ink it, plus pencil in--in lieu of the original X-Men--the Astonishing X-Men, as the looming heads. They've also asked me to do an Avengers cover.

Which makes this the perfect opportunity to prove him wrong.

And hopefully Cassaday's inks will enhance, unlike the awful job Milgrom apparently did in LEGION 25...

It appears (date notwithstanding) that Cockrum's been unable to get the pages done.
Neal Adams is replacing him.

If this is true I'm going to be ticked. I pre-ordered it solely based on Dave getting some work from Marvel and for a chance to see his X-Men again. I just hope Dave's health isn't worsening.

The product offered doesn't match the solicits under which we ordered, Scoot... Maybe you could cancel the item. Check with Cameron. I'm torn; it's not Dave, but I've been enjoying Whedon's X-Men.

I just checked in over at Nightscrawlers and unfortunately it does seem that Dave's health right now isn't up to the level where he'll be able to do the X-Men assignment after all. It appears that Neal Adams will be stepping in for him. It seems that Dave's has had to go on dialysis for his diabetes and it's leaving him pretty wiped out until he adjusts to it. That really stinks and I really hope once he improves that Marvel won't hold this against him.

Confirmation from dark bamf himself: http://nightscrawlers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=4886&page=2#pid33628021 I want to apologize to all yoou fans out there and the folks at Marvel, for letting my human frailties interfere with the GSX-M3n #3 project. Various side effects of the dialysis have left me weak and very shaky, and drawing is very difficult. Presumably, once my body settles into the dialysis routine, I'll be able to manage better. Oh, and BTW, the skin doctors also whacked off a chunk of my nose a cou[ple weeks ago, to remove a basil cell carcinoma, with the result that Paty says I now look like a pekinese.

While this sucks, and I wish Dave the best, I really have no complaints over Neal Adams. He's every bit as good as Dave, IMO, and is the perfect second choice.

Dialysis is a royal bitch. I work with a LOT of diabetics so I know. This sucks for Dave and his fans.
But Neal Adams on X-Men again? On a comic book at ALL? Plus it was Neal who came to Dave's aid re: compensation from Marvel. Heck yeah I'm still there.
Plus those groovy reprints!

I wonder if Dave is still going to do that Avengers cover he mentioned. Or was that part of this book?
