This is true. Joan Garrick was also conspicuous by her absence in the final scene on Christmas Eve. With Ma Hunkel there, did they think that the readers couldn't take more than one old woman in a scene?
Of course, it may be that Molly, Joan, Todd (and Damon?) were there, along with Jesse's mom, Rick's folks and any number of other JSA-related people, but did not appear on-panel.
I just checked out the solicits on the DC Web site for this title. We get a one-issue Rick-and-Jesse story, followed by a three-issue arc featuring Ted Grant.
