]I've heard enough good stuff about these comics to be interested, but I haven't made the effort to get them yet. It's good to have something to look forward to, right?

Sandman Mystery Theater EDIT: now read, see below

70s Defenders. I think this may be available in Essentials format. While I'm glad stuff is readily available for a low price in the Essential/Showcase formats, I want the color, dang it!

I've read Milligan's X-Force, but not X-Statix. I need to track those down one day.

Teeds, I will pinpoint which issues you need but they begin around the time Red Guardian shows up (35 or so) and continues through Hellcat's return (around 44 or so) through the 60s. Great stuff!

And X-Statix is a favortie of mine, highly recommended, Rogue!

Sandman Mystery Theatre for me too - I already promised Lardy I'd read it and my recent falling in love with basically everything Matt Wagner is writing has convinced me I need to do it ASAP (Madame Xanadu, Zorro and Green Hornet being awesome).

Jim Starlin's cosmic Marvel stories (Captain Marvel & Warlock) - I've never read them and its a major oversight of my comic book reading resume.

I whole-heartedly endorse "Sandman Mystery Theater!" The best is reading it in trades. After the first few arcs I decided to wait until an arc was over before diving in - the stories just build momentum better that way. The monthly wait did not benefit the narrative in that series.

And Cobie - are you telling me you've fallen in love with Matt Wagner and haven't read "Grendel" or "Mage?" (or are those a given?) if you haven't then you've GOT to read those! His Dr Mid-Nite mini was also very good - it's the sole reason he's my (second) favorite JSA member!

For me, I don't really have any "someday" comics - aside from the pile building up on my desk...oh, and the Cerebus trades that I still haven't gotten to...

I've read Wagner's stuff before but he was never a "must-read" for me until recent months. I did read the Dr. Mid-Nite mini when it debuted and absolutely loved it--the new Doc has been a favorite of mine ever since. Of course, the awesomely cool part was how Wagner reimagined the Fox, the Shark and Vulture from the 50's Batman comics.

Though I've read Grendel/Batman, I have never read any Grendel. And I've never read Mage. Yes, two *other* major oversights I certainly need to rectify!

What do you want me to go on ebay and actually bid against people? That seems like an awful lot of work!

Yeesh, I could probably start my own comic shop with all the books I want to read but haven't.

Apart from being another of the "Sandman Mystery Theatre" uninitiated, topping my list of things I'd like to get around to reading would be Ostrander's "Grimjack" series, Colleen Doran's "A Distant Soil" and Baron and Rude's "Nexus". If anyone has read any of those three, I'll gladly take recommendations.

Additionally, one of these days, I'd like to finish J. M. DeMatteis's "Moonshadow". I've started it like three times, but keep getting interrupted by life, and wind up forgetting the plot.

I need to finish reading Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, Plus most of his ABC stuff (Tom Strong, Promethia, etc.)

Thankkfully, they are all at the local Library.

Second that. I reread the series every other year or so...great stuff. Even have a Guy Davis sketch of Wes in his get up.

After recently finally getting around to reading Scott Pilgrim I must now move onto Cerebus and Bone as people have started to look at me funny when I say I like comics but have not read those two; which is quite unnerving and only made worse when I tell them I did not enjoy Watchmen!

Nexus is terrific! I heartily recommend it--AMAZING artwork, great sci-fi adventures, really offbeat and cool charactes and just all around fun. I read these when I was about 15 so its been a long time (and they were a bit 'adult' for a 15 year old to maybe get the true grasp). This may be something I need to reread myself.

Another recommendation here for Sandman Mystery Theatre!

On the bookshelf and waiting to be read for a while now:

Krazy Kat (2 volumes), King, The Sandwalk Adventures, Challengers of the Unknown Showcase, Clan Apis, Action Philosophers (2 volumes). They seemed very appealing at the time I bought them, but other things always seem to take precedence.

Update: I have now read the first several trades of Sandman Mystery Theater and...

Click Here For A SpoilerI didn't care much for it. I don't think the art suited it, although I enjoyed the hell out of Baker Street. I expected, and wanted, something closer to the covers. Also, I'm fine with silent panels, but in several cases I could not figure out what was going on -- although that was more the case for the non-Davis arc, IIRC.

There are no spoilers in here, are there? Oh, surely we're entitled to cheap effects every now and then.

Hellboy...and starting soon, I'm going to do it! I suspect it will take quite awhile to get through.

Also: the entire run of Strange Adventures stories, particularly the pre-Silver Age stuff. I'm so curious about them!

Y The Last Man (I got the $1 first issue a while ago and really liked it)

Shade The Changing Man

I just need a really bad week at the comic store when there's nothing to get and I can justify getting a TPB.

maybe someday some more Transmetropolitan

Chalk me up as another that really liked Y: the Last Man. Maybe not as much as Lardy, but it certainly ranks up there as among the better comics of the last decade. My one complaint was it dragged at times as a monthly but I suspect that problem melts away if you're reading them in large doses at a time.

I've been thinking about Frank Miller's Ronin lately, as it's been mentioned that Miller was influenced on it by Lone Wolf & Cub, a manga I've been discovering and enjoying lately. I've never read it. At the same time, it seems Ronin is kind of under the radar among Miller's seminal works. I wonder if this is because it's just not all that good or...what? Anyone read it who can give their opinion?
