Just a little further research on an earlier question: Originally, this characters powers were presented as mystical in nature, though a recent source has denied that the character is mystically-powered. On to new questions: Was your character considered a hero? Yes. This may be debatable, but I'll give it a no. is your character originally from Earth-2? Originally, no.

Yeah, he was originally presented as literally the spirit of a fallen soldier from the Revolutionary War, but in recent appearances, it has been stated that he is neither human, meta-human, nor a mystical being.
