What do you think of this development? I imagine it'll be good for sales- but what about in the context of a Legion story?

Do you think changing the rules is a good thing? Assuming they haven't changed already in the time that's elapsed since we've really read a proper 'LSH' story... or that the 'no artificial device powering a Legionnaire' rule ever applied to *this* Legion- there's stuff we don't know yet...

I'm hoping whoever it is wearing two rings has a unique super power unrelated to the GL ring.

Do you think it'll be someone we've seen before?

The return of Rond? Debut of this universe's Celeste? Or Jordana?

Levitz said something slightly cryptic about Chemical King in a podcast, I believe. Could Condo be the new GL?

Or some current Legionnaire appearing in a new role?

Ha! It'd be funny if it were Jenny (XS)! She could acquire grandpa Barry's Flash ring and wear three rings! Are there any other DCU rings of importance for her to gather? She could be DC's Mandarin...

Alan Scott's ring--or another ring related to the Starheart--might be cool, but that sounds more like something they would have done about ten years ago than now.

Hmmm- d'you think if Jenny wore Starfinger's ring that Starlight and Starbright would be a couple of scantily clad hunks?

I hadn't thought of the Starheart ring-- guess I was making the mistake of lumping Alan in with the other GLs.

Alan's actually wouldn't be all that much of a stretch, since he'd currently part of the wall decor in the Black Witch's palace.

The Legion has always had an exception or two floating around.

Karate Kid was an exception, being powerless (even if he was sometimes given the 'power' to sense weaknesses).

Superboy and Mon-El became exceptions (assuming Supergirl as the first legionnaire with that powerset, post-retcon) to the 'no duplicates' rule.

Lightning Lad and Lightning Lass have the same powers again, and Chameleon Boy and Chameleon Girl also have the same powers, indicating that the no duplicates rule is pretty much toast anyway...

Several Legionnaires have snuck by the 'no killing' rule, including Star Boy, Projectra and Mon-El/Brainy/etc.

I'd be okay with one exception to the 'no devices' rule, so long as it was Rond, who was described as already being a Legionnaire during Legion of Three Worlds anyway.

Some random other yob with a Green Lantern Ring wouldn't impress me as much...

Green Lanterns everywhere is something I'll have to live with. Doubt I'll ever have much enthusiasm for it, though.

What would interest me is knowing if the old Annual in which the President said "No Green Lanterns on Earth-- ever" had a canon explanation at some point. Or even if it's still considered canonical that 31st Century Earth barred Green Lanterns from its space.

So many questions...

It was an interesting throw-away line, wasn't it?

I got the impression, and this might just be me making stuff up, that the Green Lanterns ultimate loyalty was to their own Corps and their own oath, and that the United Planets might have, at some point, gotten a bug up it's butt about some self-appointed 'space police' flying in and imposing it's own rules and agenda.

It could be a pride thing, 'We can police our own space, thankyouverymuch!' or a rule-of-law thing, 'You follow *our* laws, or stay out! We didn't vote for you to be our 'space police'!' or something similar.

Most likely, there was some incident in which a Green Lantern (or group of same) acted against a corrupt or mistaken government, and it caused a big loss of face for the government, having the Green Lanterns fly in and save their people from the government screw-up, so they turned around and blamed the Green Lanterns for being all 'cowboy' and messing up the government response somehow, and banned them from the area 'because they obeyed interfering outsider interests' or were 'unaccountable' or something.

Or perhaps it's something to do with Universo? Maybe whatever he did to get kicked out of the Green Lantern Corps involved Earth or some other prominent UP world(s), and led to the Corps being banished from UP space?

Ugh. Suddenly, I'm confused. Rond and Universo's story, which remains relevant as of Legion of Three Worlds, requires the Corps to have still existed, and still have enough authority to fire and promote members, and yet Sodam Yat seems to think otherwise...

Retcons... colliding... Continuity spinning out of control! Quick, somebody reality-punch something!

Please read LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES Vol.3 #295 for the answer as to why Green Lanterns are not allowed in the U.P.

There's actually a lot of stuff about Green Lantern's during Levitz's tenure. The whole "Universo Project" storyline involved Universon capturing particularly strong-willed persons and taking over the U.P. as a prelude to some sort of attack on Oa.

Oy. Nightcrawler, Eryk, my memory isn't what it used to be. It probably never was.

No kidding. I wonder how much coffee Levitz' editor drinks in the normal course of a workday. He should probably drink more.

I'll always be grateful to Sodam Yat for giving me the opportunity to invoke, "Hey, the pros aren't any better at this naming crap than I am!" if anyone mentions that my fic characters have really... uh, hopeless names. [Razz]

There would be cool cross-continuity irony if Polar Boy actually became a GL this time around.

You know, I'd really like to see Celeste revived and in this continuity...

I want Rond back. I see no reason why he can't be an active honorary Legionnaire and use his ring.

Lana used her ring on a few missions as a reservist in the olden days. And Jimmy used his serum on a few missions too. Why not Rond?
