Gates has always been refered to with masculine pronouns (as has Tellus and Quislet), so I respect this precedent. The gender of any given Durlan (Cham Girl), however, mightbe subject for debate. I haven't always been happy with Levitz's treatment of female Legionnaires, but IMHO he redeems himself with the introduction of Glorith, Comet Queen, Dragonfire, and Harmonia; nevertheless, the exact status of the latter remains undetermed, as does that of XS.
I'm still hoping that the Academy will include discovered versions of Kinetix, Andromeda, Kid Quantum (I or II), Lonestar, Gazelle, and so forth, as well as Danielle Foccart.
