Couldn't it also be 'Yan', rhyming with can? Or 'Yan', soundling like 'yon'... or even plain old 'Jon'? I remember finding out that other readers 'heard' the names a different way when I first started interacting online-- it shouldn't have been, but it was a big surprise!
