I think that I like the 31st century lantern costume much better when I can imagine it as having only one main color.

Not sure what that would look like. I haven't kept up with Blackest Night-A-Go-Go, if that's what you mean. But the composition/design nerd in me rarely cares for costumes with a long vertical line and a two or multi-color scheme. I guess maybe Guardian/Vindicator got away with it back in the Alpha Flight days, but even that costume was sort of... meh.
