i saw it from around the time of the "who shot JR" episode, right up until the end !!
i remember when the "cliff-hanger" were a TOTAL surprise !! and when the series finished we had to WAIT the 3 months or so to see what happened when it returned !!
there was no way of knowing and the stories were never leaked out !!
i MISS that kind of surprise with things now .... we always know in advance !!

My mom was totally into those shows when I was a kid and I wasn't about to leave a room that had a tv on no matter what, so I ended watching most of those nighttime soaps. I'd say that I enjoyed "Dallas" more than Dynasty -- from what I remember, the stories seemed less outlandish and it wasn't about a "catfight of the week" the way Dynasty was (although those were amusing too -- especially when Heather Locklear was involved). It kinda jumped the shark after that shower scene though (talk about a reboot).

Although I watched both, I think I preferred Dynasty. Part of it might have been that they more younger characters (Fallon, Jeff, Sammy Jo, etc). I stopped watching Dallas around the time Victoria Principal left, but Dynasty I stayed with until the end. I even watched the spinoff, the Colbys (although mainly for Emma Samms and Stephanie Beachum... two actresses that I adored in the 80s).
I did watch all the rest, although mostly for very shallow reasons. Falcon Crest I primarily watched because I had the hots for Billy Moses, although I loved Jane Wyman's Angela Channing. Knots Landing I mainly watched for the younger characters, some of whom I found tasty. Like I said, I wasn't looking for deep storylines there

I didn't watch it much, but I grew up in a strict "Dallas" household. It was part of that classic Friday night lineup for a long time.
I think my Dad's only unrealized dream in life was to replace the actor that played Jock Ewing!

I would have said DALLAS straight away, but I have recently caught a couple of all-nite DYNASTY marathons on the Soap Network, and they were GREAT campy fun! Everyone was just so cuntly and amusing!!

I think I'm leaning more towards Dynasty although I probably saw about the same number of each show while they were on. And the only reason I ever watched Falcon Crest was because of David Selby. Anyone remember what other soap he was on about 15 to 20 years before Falcon Crest?

great word LASH !!!
Agreed that it's a great word, but he's misused it. The adjective "cunty" would have been appropriate, rather than the adverb "cuntly".

Oh, and I came from a "Dallas" household. Never watched any of the others. I remember being so disappointed by the "it was all a dream" season, when all the plotlines from that season were just completely abandoned.
