There are occasionally scenes in Legion stories that one expects will develop into an upcoming story, but don't. And then there are scenes that seem to have fulfilled their purpose, but then surprisingly are revealed to be a part of a developing story.
Which of the following recent scenes do you think will be part of an upcoming story...and which won't be?
1) Finding Mon-El to ask him to be Legion leader 2) Galloway's Theorem (how Durlan's expand?) 3) Mone-El's statement "I'm not what you think...." (Adventure 521) 4) Marte Allon's defense of Earth-Man's membership in the Legion. (LSH 6)

I'm pretty sure this one is just an inside joke. Tom Galloway is the captain of the fan team in the fan vs. pro trivia contest that takes place at the SDCC every year. He's faced off against Paul Levitz a couple of times, and I think this is just a clever nod.

Gregory J. Galloway Department of Mathematics University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL 33124, USA Received 20 May 1988. Available online 8 August 2002. Abstract We establish for space-times obeying certain curvature conditions (consistent with gravity being attractive) some clear cut connections between global hyperbolicity and timelike geodesic completeness. We show, under suitable circumstances, that if the future of a spacelike hypersurface is future timelike geodesically complete then it is global hyperbolic. A partial converse is also obtained. One of our results is a consequence of a splitting theorem for space-times which admit a maximal hypersurface. Our main results are used to improve certain aspects of some splitting theorems previously obtained in the literature.

Huh! Thanks for the info, Jim... I hereby retract my "Tom Galloway" theory.
That is an odd coincidence on the name, though.

3. Yes - finding Mon-el and revealing his "I'm not what you think" statement could go hand in hand. That statement and Shady's comments about how different he was after coming out of the Zone will surely lead to some story.
4. Yes. Earth Man has made a lot of progress in working with the team but suspicion persists, and I would expect some further exploration of why the U.P. put him there.

1. Not really, so I'll say no. I expect someone will find him quickly and we'll progress right to #3.
2. No
3. Yes
4. Yes. The Earth Man saga seems to want to persist, although so far my opinion is that the character is dominating over a lot of traditional Legionnaires (Colossal Boy, Sun Boy, Brainy and of course Shadow Lass to name some). I am not a big fan of the character still, and if Gates happened to teleport him away to far off Galaxy X-35, I'd be ok with that.

1. Naturally
2. Fine, so long as it doesn't culminate with Brainy cutting off Cham's arm again.
3. I think that's just Mon-El being Mon-El.
4. Yeah. For a guy who once presumably led his former team in a xenophobic rebellion against an entire galaxy and who nearly put Superman permanently in mothballs, I'd say his people skills need a lot more work.

Excuse me but can you please direct me to the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles?

1. Oh yeah, count on it.
2. I think this was just a throw away line meant to peak our interest. I don't think they will expand on it (excuse the pun).
3. By "what" I think Monel meant a quality such as "noble" or "fearless" as opposed to "what" refering to a being, human or Durlan etc.
Maybe Monel thinks he lacks a certain quality which in his mind is a requirement for any Green Lantern? I guess we have to wait and see. Let's not forget that Monel was Dyogene 3rd or 4th choice for GL. If I were Monel I would be as ho-hum about it as he was, if I weren't his 1st choice either. What a slap in the face!
4. Marte Allon must be a Durlan spy. She was hoping that Earth Man would kill all the Legionnaires once he got in.

1) Most responders think that finding Mon-El will be an upcoming story. I think it will be brief, maybe nothing more than a mention. Levitz apparently had to do some rewriting to fit in Mon-El as leader, but he probably will cover Mon-Els' return as quickly as possible.
2) The majority think Galloway's Theorem (how Durlan's expand?) is a throwaway. I agree. It may show up in the storyline, but not in a significant way.
3) Folks are split on the significance of Mon-El's statement "I'm not what you think...." I think this one could go either way.
4) Marte Allon's defense of Earth-Man's membership in the Legion (LSH 6). The responses to this one were more about EM than Marte Allon. I'm wondering if she will be part of the resolution to Earth-Man's role in the Legion. Or perhaps she will be killed and EM will be blamed.
