127,000 members? Grife! THAT'S a Legion, you by damn betcha!

Ok so maybe we can't officially vote (or can we? We don't know yet) for the new leader of The Legion of Super-Heroes but since we're known far and wide as the books most dedicated fans we might as well give it a shot anyway.
[Big Grin]

There was never any question who I was going to vote for: Shadow Lass. And I did.

Sweet! We're off to a fantastic start!

For the record I voted for Lightning Lad. He was always treated poorly whenever he led the Legion in the past incarnations and the way Mark writes him I want to give him an opportunity to really shine for once.

Triplicate Girl rules; all others drool!

well, as someone from the great city of chicago, I won't vote until I know where the candidates stand on patronage hiring. [Wink]

Technically (and to my best recollection) Garth has only been leader once and that was pre-boot. He was elected in SLSH #247 and didn't even finish out his one-year term due to his breakdown. He just happened to have a lot go on during his tenure that took 44 issues to tell. See my post here for a breakdown of what happened.

I voted for Princess Projectra

Posted by Nightcrawler on :

Why can't I vote for Colossal Boy, Cosmic Boy, Dream Girl or Phantom Girl?

Is this a Republican rigged election? [Smile]

I declare this election null and void!

It should be obvious why you can't vote for Dream Girl. Although there have been a number of instances lately of the dead winning elections. [Big Grin]

Aw crud! I swear I thought I'd written in Phantom Girl and Micro Lad.
Dang! Dang! Dang!

I don't see how to edit the poll to add new answers either.

Bloody nass!

I know I wrote them in before I decided it would be a better idea to alphabetize.

Can one of you guys add those names with your mighty administrative powers? If not I'll edit my first post and add the names there and request write ins for those characters.

I guess you CAN vote for Cosmic Boy if you want to (as a write in) but he specifically stated he was stepping down.

Dream Girl? See Scott's reply above if you please.

All fixed.

Posted by Lightning Lad on :

And by fixed I mean I added Gim and Tinya. Cos and Nura are on their own.

Posted by Cobalt Kid on :

Chalk me up for a Tinya supporter!

Posted by ultrajo on :

I too voted for Phantom Girl

Posted by Omni Craig on :

Garth all the way!! He's going to be a great leader! [Lightning Lad]

Get out there and "Shock the Vote"! Or can't we campaign this close to the polling place?

Posted by Yellow Kid on :

I don't have a problem with it. (but I voted for Garth too) [Big Grin]

Posted by Tamper Lad on :

Tinya! Tinya! Tinya!
Who needs substance? She's got style.

Posted by SouthtownKid on :

I would have voted for the incumbent. Weird choice not to include...

Posted by Tamper Lad on :

The incumbent seemed to indicate he was not seeking re-election in the most recent issue. The position is open.

Can WhoopNass with Wazzo count on your support?

Posted by Outdoor Miner on :

No.

[Lightning Lad] [Lightning Lad] [Lightning Lad]

I didn't take his comments as a desire to step down...more just wanting to put the choice in the hands of the people.

But yeah, taking into acount my av, you can count on my whoopNass support (assuming Cos really isn't running).

Posted by Nightcrawler on :

I vote for Cosmic Boy. I assumed he was allowing others to vote for him as well, if they so chose.

I'm so far the only Starboy supporter.

Not anymore, Semi...

I'd be interested in seeing Saturn girl become leader for a number of reasons.

One it echoes’s tradition and the past and to have Irma once again take up leadership would be a nice nod to the fans.

Secondly, given her moms role in the UP she will have a mentor to help and advise her and someone in the UP working for the Legion.

Thirdly I cant wait to see the tensions and angst when she has to order Garth to do something he don’t want to do, or to rollock him for stepping out of line, sort of can the relationship survive idea?

Fourthly it would be fun, given the stroppy teenage attitudes these legionnaires show to see how they react to a telepath in charge. I mean she will know exactly what you are thinking and have done, there is no hiding from Saturn mom if you have not done your homework or cleaned your room [LOL]

B54Ever.
He's the smartest, Mark Waid reccently said he was his favorite character to write. As far as I care, anybody who is't smart enough to vote for Brainiac five, isn't smart enough to be a candidate :-p Intellect is Everything.

Yes!! Someone else voted for Karate Kid!! Oh yeah... [Big Grin]

Posted by Mystery Lad on :

I wonder if more people would've voted for Sun Boy before the whole quitting and riding off into the sunset with the enemy thing?

Posted by Mystery Lad on :

I would've been on the Shady ticket before she started robbing people.

Posted by Cobalt Kid on :

Sun Boy will never get my vote with that hair and costume [Wink]

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

Sun Boy did quite well in the last leadership poll we had, as I recall.

Posted by Tamper Lad on :

I invite disenchanted Shady and Sun Boy supporters to join the Tinya camp. Lots of room over here.

You might say your prior affiliation is immaterial.

Posted by Omni Craig on :

So far, Garth's the only Legionnaire in double digits!

C'mon people, see the light(ning)!

Electric? No! Electgarth!

Too late, I am the solitary vote for Sun Boy...

Or maybe we should consider a second round of voting, between the 2-3 winners of the first round?

Jeepers! Why is everyone other than me voting for someone who drools?

Posted by Fat Cramer on :

Excellent turnout for this election vote!

I maintain my support for Shadow Lass, and propose that the incident with the glasses has been widely misinterpreted. Dare I suggest a media spun smear campaign generated by some dirty politicking, anti-Shadow Lass camp?

Posted by Tromium on :

Looking at the votes, I'm wondering if Mr. Waid and Mr. Kitson haven't been busy subtly manipulating our feelings towards the characters so that a few stand a much better chance of winning. Was the Shady/Klar thing was done to discourage votes for Shady because they have other long-term plans for her? They've obviously sown few seeds of support for the likes of Ultra Boy, Element Lad and Invisible Kid, and have effectively taken several strong members like Sun Boy, Dream Girl, Brin Londo (due to non-membership) out of the running. Arguably Cosmic Boy as well. And is it a coincidence that Brainy's missing just as an open election is being announced?

Are we playing into their nefarious little hands? [Hmmm?]

Posted by Tamper Lad on :

Hmmmmm Garth still way out in front. Time for a new Phantom Girl Attack Ad.

First post for me and immediately complaining. [Wink]

In fact it's a little bit confusing, because I've voted for Sunboy, too. That makes two, does it.

Count me in for Cos too.

Posted by Yellow Kid on :

Two write in votes for Cosmic Boy so far. It seems that the general consensus is that I should have included him anyway.

We've probably seen the majority of the action we're going to in this poll so I intend to go ahead and close it Friday instead of waiting until mid month to do so.

If you want to really push for a candidate then let's get it on!

...and many many thanks to everybody that checked in and and voted.

Posted by Kid Prime on :

I FINALLY voted... and it looks like the consensus agrees with me. [Smile]

Posted by Yellow Kid on :

Pretty darned cool too. Lightning Lad took an early lead and maintained it with strength.

I might not get much (if any) time on the board until next week so I'm going to post a screenshot of the voting as it stands right now.

If you ask me, what's the point in voting for a candidate who is qualified to lead? When you think of Legion elections, the curve ball Legion fans threw Levtiz with Dream Girl was the greatest of all time. That's why my vote goes to....LIGHT LASS! Just think of all the creative ways she can "form a consensus!" Plus, we know from the past she's not averse to "forming a consensus" with GIRLS, too! VOTE AYLA!

Posted by Cobalt Kid on :

As long as its consensual!

Posted by Tamper Lad on :

Ayla only ran because she heard that politicians have to 'press the flesh'.

She's actaully been running since she joined the Legion. Being from a quiet planet she didn't know the figurative meaning of the idiom.

Posted by Mystery Lad on :

Something's off. I thought I voted for Sun Boy-- at least one other poster stated that they did as well, yet only one vote shows in the tally.

Did I have a hanging chad?!? [tease]

Posted by Nightcrawler on :

The program shows you voting for Shadow Lass, Todd.

Posted by Mystery Lad on :

I must've scrolled a bit while clicking on my choice- or maybe while thinking about it. Or else I'm receiving subtle telepathic suggestions... [Eek!] [Shadow Lass - Re-Imagined]

It's funny- she's exactly who I would've voted for before the most recent issue.

Posted by Yellow Kid on :

lol that's funny. Who knew the hussy would have some effect right here at LegionWorld?

Something go wrong with the Telepathic Dampers again Scott?

Excellent! You can check! So, who did I vote for? I thought I voted for Sun Boy also, but No-Idea Lad says he did, too. Of course, senility is taking its toll, and I just might have voted for someone completely different and have forgotten about it...

Old age. So tragic...

Looks like a vote for Shadow Lass for you too Doc.

Posted by Mystery Lad on :

Oooo-- spooky!

Guess this version of Shadow Lass *is* sending out thoughtwaves influencing this election!

She must be hiding that tuning-fork headdress somewhere.

Posted by Tamper Lad on :

Tinya's campaign formally objects to the voting irregularities that have put Shadow Lass ahead of Phantom Girl in the poll.

Further there are reports of Talokian youth gangs loitering outside of polling places harrassing supporters of other female Legionnaires. We have credible information that several of Tinya's supporters had their official Phantom Girl belts stolen and were too scared to vote.

Posted by Lightning Lad on :

It is all moot anyway since YK called an end to the election for today.

All hail Lightning Lad! [Big Grin]

[Lightning Lad - Re-Imagined]

I smell dangling chads! [Razz]

Posted by Tromium on :

So, with at least two votes in question for Shady, who's deputy leader? Looks like a three-way tie.

Posted by Tamper Lad on :

Tinya's campaign also asks for an investigation into reports that Messieurs Bodger and Bonce were spotted handing out [Venturan Walking Money] as inducements to vote for a certain Princess.

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

It's interesting the characters who haven't received any votes.

Invisible Kid-- won the last reader-election.

Timber Wolf-- scored second in the next to last election.

Element Lad-- tradionally high vote getter.

Ultra Boy-- won first reader-election.

Posted by Yellow Kid on :

*sigh*

I still think an early poll was a cool idea. We get an idea which way this fan grooup leans if an actual election is announced by DC. Pretty darned cool you guys.

Of course, this likely won't be the way people lean later on, it'll be pretty interesting to see how a vote goes in a month or two after we pester Waid into announcing open elections among the fans.

[Big Grin]

You KNOW we will.

Of course they need a Deputy Leader as well - the one who has garnered the second most votes. No election enquiry needed. [Shadow Lass - Re-Imagined]

Thanks to whomever there pointed me to this place.

I should also add, I read the Blight storyline, and that was it. Waid/Kitson LoSH is my first real foray into the 31st Century. And I really like it.
