Yes, it's that time again...time to nominate who you'd like to see win a Legionverse's Next Top Pinup Model title!

This competition is open to ANY character in the Legionverse, male or female, who has fair hair. That could mean golden blonde, platinum, light brown, strawberry, pink, baby blue, etc.

Actual Legionnaires may be nominated this time, but don't forget the obscure characters, they're pretty fun to put in the spotlight.

When all the nominations are tallied, there will be a vote to choose the top five.

Questions....

1. Which fair haired character from Legion stories would you like to see compete? Remember, males and females are both allowed, Legionnaires or non Legionnaires are allowed. List your top five (ish).

2. Who's been your favorite judge in past Pinup Model competitions? Which three would you like to judge this one? Is there someone else you'd like to see be a judge?

Former judges:
Saturn Girl
Marte Allon
Emerald Empress
Ambassador Jeryl
Gigi Cusimano
Princess Elwinda

3. Are there any exotic locations from Legion stories that would be a nice setting for a fair haired Legion character pin up? Can you give an issue number for reference?

4. Dream Girl and Light Lass have been hosts in the past. Would you like either of them to host again? Remember, if they host, they can't be in the competition. Is there someone else who you'd like to see be host?

5. What is your favorite color? The top choice will be used in a challenge.

6. Anything else?

I'll go first...

1. Contestants: Andromeda, Supergirl, Brainiac 5, Nemesis Kid and Queen Azura

2. It'd be fun to have some dark haired girls be all witchy to the fair ones. So, I'll choose Phantom Girl, Shadow Lass and Dawnstar to be judges.

3. I need to think about this one...(that's why I'm asking for help...)

4. I choose Yera Allon to be host, and I want her to do lots of interesting stuff with her powers, but remain recognizable.

5. I like all colors evenly, so I need nominations for this one...

1.White Witch
Ji Daggle
Don Allen
Ambassador Relnic
Beauty Blaze
Insect Queen

2. No "blondes vs. brunettes" please!
Still fond of Hate Face, whether as a regular or guest judge.

3. Fountain of 1000 Chemicals
Inshar (world of giant flowers)
Kathoon! (Hello, guest judge Lydda!)

4. I like the idea of Yera hosting.
Nura should be ineligible for this contest. Because she's a past host. But really 'cause she's NURA. C'mon! Nura! It just would not be fair.
Same deal with the other past hosts/judges...maybe they could be "guest stars" in pics a la the swimwear challenge in the Male Model contest.

TD,
LOVE all of your contestant nominees! Most excited about Ji Daggle and Beauty Blaze (though it's intimidating trying to make her as lovely as Curt Swan did). I hope these nominees do well in the voting. In fact, it kinda makes me want to make it all non Legionnaires again. We'll just see how the nominations and voting go....

Okay, I can understand not wanting blondes vs. brunettes. No need for that. Hate Face tends to show up at the finale, when the facial close-ups happen. Coincidence? No!

GREAT location ideas! I'll need help finding a reference, but my collection is pretty complete.

Oh no, Nura could never be a contestant. First of all, I'd cheat! I'd make everyone but her look dull and lame and sketchier than Sketch Lad's sketchiest.

I love to put guest stars in there! It will definitely happen.

I wouldn't mind "non-Legionnaires only". Of course I can still slip my suggestions through 'cause Mysa can be her pre-Legionnaire redhead self... she's fairhaired times two. Lana was not a "regular" Legionnaire. Hey, Luii dated someone who was NEVER a Legionnaire and she made it.

(Are you buying that?)

Inshar was early on, in or after the Legionnaire Lemon story.

The Fountain of 1000 Chemicals was from one of the Tots stories.

1. Other Contestants: Mekt Ranzz, Circe from 5YL

2. Judges: RJ Brande, Mordru, Dr. Aven (I seem to be focussing on the old, white-haired men - so I'll add the catty Catspaw for flavour)

3. Locations:
A Dark & Lonely Corner of Hell (LSH v.1 289)
5YL Khundia (LSH v.3 16)

4. Hosts
Veilmist (LSH v.3 44)
Starlight & Starbright (LSH v.2 47)
Dr. Chaseer (LSH v.2 30)

5. Blue

P.S. Inshar was Adventure 309, Fountain of 1000 Chemicals Adventure 338 (according to the Help File)

Well, I have no problem with more Mekt. And he is another double fair-haired sentient. But he probably won't get another bite at the banyo fruit.

Questions....

1. Which fair haired character from Legion stories would you like to see compete? Remember, males and females are both allowed, Legionnaires or non Legionnaires are allowed. List your top five (ish).

gals:

PROJECTRA

BEAUTY BLAZE

PSYCHE (The Wanderers)

INSECT QUEEN (Lana or Postboot)

CALORIE QUEEN

guys:

PETE ROSS

ANSIS (Catspaw's betraying boyfriend from TMK-Legionnaires)

JEDIAH RIKKANE (Power Boy from the Academy)

POLAR BOY

SEAN ERIN

2. Who's been your favorite judge in past Pinup Model competitions? Which three would you like to judge this one? Is there someone else you'd like to see be a judge?

Emerald Empress has been my favorite; Dean draws a stunning Mystelor; Hate-Face is adorable; Lester's always a joy; might be nice to see previous winner Infectious Lass judge

plus:

SUN BOY (Levitz-era ladies man!)

BRAINO OF MRYNAH (noble MEL&tLSH ladies man!)

BRAINIAC 5 (blonde fetish!)

3. Are there any exotic locations from Legion stories that would be a nice setting for a fair haired Legion character pin up? Can you give an issue number for reference?

I'll second starry Kathoon and add the Sorcerer's World

4. Dream Girl and Light Lass have been hosts in the past. Would you like either of them to host again? Remember, if they host, they can't be in the competition. Is there someone else who you'd like to see be host?

5. What is your favorite color? The top choice will be used in a challenge.

Baby blue

6. Anything else?

Maybe separate guys and gals competitions?

GREAT nominations so far...here are some early leaders...

Beauty Blaze, contestant
Insect Queen, contestant
Hate Face, judge
Yera, host
Kathoon, location
Blue and baby blue, color

Brainiac 5 has been mentioned as a contestant and as a judge, so this usually means he'll be seen *somewhere* in the competition.

1) Sinde - she doesn't handle rejection very well and wants another shot
2) Element Lad
3) Lana Lang
4) Magno
5) White Witch

2. Who's been your favorite judge in past Pinup Model competitions? Which three would you like to judge this one? Is there someone else you'd like to see be a judge?

Former judges:
Saturn Girl

New Judge:
Validus
Thora

3. Are there any exotic locations from Legion stories that would be a nice setting for a fair haired Legion character pin up? Can you give an issue number for reference?

Don't have issue numbers, but how about:

Medieval Orando
All-metalic Braal
the Farmlands of Winath

4. Dream Girl and Light Lass have been hosts in the past. Would you like either of them to host again? Remember, if they host, they can't be in the competition. Is there someone else who you'd like to see be host?

How about that womanizer - Sun Boy?

5. What is your favorite color? The top choice will be used in a challenge.

Green is my favorite, but that is being used in the Empress challenge, so let's go with blue - baby or sky

6. Anything else?

Yes, you are so talented I hate you [Wink]

1. Princess Projectra, White Witch, Element Lad, Brainiac 5 (SW6 version; liked his hair), and Mekt Ranzz (yes, you'd done Mekt before, but there's several people you've repeated by having them as judges/hosts?)

2. I'd like to see Hate Face again as a judge. If you want to carry on the "fair hair" theme as judges, there's R.J. Brande and Dr. Micah Aven.

3. Do something with Durla. With all their underground life in postboot, you can probably snag some pics from RL of cave formations or crystal growths for a dramatic background.

4. Dream Girl to host. That gets plenty of pics in for her fans, but gives someone else a chance to win.

5. I'll vote for blue.

6. Actually I think we should limit this competition to blonde, white, or pastel hair. There's enough LSH-based folks in the strawberry-blonde/red/auburn spectrum to do a "Super Red-Headed League... of Space!" [Big Grin]

Posted by Set on :

Does red count as 'fair?' 'Cause I'm not sure a hair-related challenge could leave ground without Spider Girl on board.

Fair-haired lasses;
Projectra (with the long curly platinum locks!)
Gas Girl (does that count as hair?)
Spider Girl (it's alive!)
White Witch (she can mix it up, a little platinum blonde, a little red)
Lamprey (hey! Green!)

Fair-haired lads;
Sun Boy ('cause he doesn't have to be a judge or a host, he can compete!)

Less Dream Girl and Ayla, IMO. They've had their turns. Yera would be a great judge, being hair-adjacent.

Posted by Sketch Lad on :

Okay, the nominations have brought about some decisions that need to be made. I do believe that this should be a competition for blondes! We shall call it the BLONDE SQUAD! The redheads deserve their own competition. I am choosing to keep the White Witch in this competition, with her platinum hair. Lana Lang/Insect Queen will definitely have a place when it's time for the redheads to compete. If anyone who voted for Lana would like to give that vote to another character, that is allowed. The redheaded White Witch will be allowed into that competition if she is nominated again.

There will be a male winner and a female winner. Everyone will compete in the same challenges and face the same judges.

At this point, I believe a light shade of blue will be the color chosen for that particular challenge.

There have been lots of nominations, but Kathoon remains the only location seconded.

Yera has proven to be popular as choice for host.

Hate Face, Sun Boy, RJ Brande, and Dr. Aven have all received more than one nomination for judge.

Now, for the current standings for competitors:

WOMEN
White Witch- With platinium white hair. Her other styling is TBD.
Projectra- hair length and style TBD.
Beauty Blaze

MEN
Brainiac 5
Mekt Ranzz
Element Lad

The polls will remain open, but ideas will be funnelled into the new format.

Thank you and good luck!

A few more blond contestant suggestions to replace the redheads:

Energy Boy (see WWLSH and Baxter 14)
Policy Pam! --> although maybe she'd be a great judge-?

Judges: Gas Girl? Dr. Ryk'rr? Tab? Myron Marks? (EDE is gonna kick himself for not nominating ol' Myron.)Tenzil Kem?

So Mekt gets another shot, eh? Capital. But if Jan Arrah is in this too, will M. be able to concentrate (on the contest) at all?

Some decisions have been made...
This will be an all PLATINUM and GOLD competition, including judges and hosts.

The host....Platinum Dream Girl! There has been enough interest in her for her to bump Yera from the job and she better fits the role of Platinum.

The judges...Threeboot Gold Sun Boy! Platinum Dr. Aven! Platinum R.J. Brande! This seems like an interesting mix to me...

Themes and locations have been decided. Stay tuned...

Now, the contestants:
Men: Gold Brainiac 5, Gold Element Lad, Platinum Mekt Ranzz. Gold Pete Ross. We need one more...

Women: Platinum Princess Projectra, Platinum White Witch, Gold Beauty Blaze, Gold Policy Pam. We need one more...

These are the nominees for the remaining spots...

Queen Azura
Psyche

Posted by Sketch Lad on :

A reasonable demand.

DON'T VOTE YET, YA'LL!

The first pictures you've seen are just to introduce the look of the contestants, and to sort of define the role they'll take in this instance. I did that because really, many of them look very similar. I felt like "types" were needed in order to distinguish them from each other. I mean, my version of Pete Ross looks exactly like my version of Adventure Era Brainy, except for the freckles and skin color.

I had to figure out how to depict Jecks. She's been shown with four or five totally different hairstyles...probably more.

Anyway, this is the look they'll be based upon for their duration in this contest. Hope your favorite didn't get altered in a way you just hate!

The challenges are coming up!

Some preliminary notes:

Mysa and Brainy each have an advantage in their distinct skin tones. Mysa's pic is one of my favorites of the group.

Projectra is one of my top 2 Legionnaires from way back. However, if this had been a voting round, I would have eliminated her. The makeup, the help-me-Light-Lass! top...eeeeeeeek!

Jan: sorrybutIdon'tlikethehair!

Pam & Pete: do the nice ones finish first? We'll see! The two most likely to have fun at the photo shoots. Potential!

Azura: a good pic. Just remember to be more than the sentient in the space-tiara, even if you keep it on for the duration of the contest.

Relnic: He probably get holographed all the time, although for news documentary, not artistry. Will certainly bring great composure.

MEKT: Yowsah. The most visually charged pic. Mind you, I love M's long hair, but I'm all about this now.

BEAUTY BLAZE: She is intriguing. Excellent fresh interpretation of her hair, Sketchy, and the neutral makeup palette lets the 'do take center stage. (Take note, Azura and Projectra.) Could be the spoiler of the whole shebang.

Posted by MLLASH on :

Nice intros!

Non-Legionnaires Pete, Mekt and Relnic are poised to walk all over Legionnaires-proper Jan and Brainy. I would probably have voted Jan out this round.

The ladies are a bit tougher. All could pull it off. Unlike TD, I loved Projectra's jigglefest picture, even if I was hoping for her Immonen/5YL hairstyle. Pam's adorable but will have to move beyond her nice-girl look at some point. Mysa was haunting. Azura's facial-shot was perfection, but her space-tiara will have to go sooner rather than later. I would probably have voted to eliminate Beauty Blaze this round, if forced to vote.

Posted by Sketch Lad on :

LOVE this input! I'm really glad we had this intro round, to get familiarized with the contestants, cuz now I can mess with them.

I chose the Bombshell look for Jecky, because even though I really love the Grell style where she basically looks like a model from the Linda Evangelista/Christie Turlington era, I have very vivid memories of her drawn by Jim Sherman and Jimmy Janes where she's much curvier and had more va va va voom! I agree that the Immonen sophisticated hairstyle was nice on her, but I felt it was a tad bland. I mean, Dreamy and Glorith both look like that, too.

I'll spill...Azura will rarely be seen in her crown. Her role is the Classy Lady, so I'll keep her distinguishable in that way. When I looked back on her story, I was surprised that she was a pretty as she was, I was thinking she had a harsher look, but she didn't. I want to go with that.

Jan has had some BAD hair, but like Imra, he didn't care cuz being so blonde, he can get away with it. I chose to show him in the longer, looser curls. I *couldn't* do the white fro.

Brainy's look is a combo of SW6, Coipel's Lost look and the cartoon, with a touch of V3 LaRocque thrown in. I like a skinny, disheveled Brainy. His appearance isn't very important to him, he has other things on his formidable mind.

Pam and Pete are great fun to draw, because they aren't the usual super model types. Pam's not fat, but she's got more "real girl" proportions, and if I had to, I'd show how tall she is. I like that she's pretty, but she's not Dream Girl beautiful. She looks, to me, like Supergirl, but not as delicate.

The first actual challenge really puts everyone on more equal footing because it's all in black and white and it involves dramatic... alright, I'll admit it...Infectious Lass style make-up/mask. I'm having a BLAST working on those images and I can't wait to finish them and post them!

Posted by Set on :

Huh, I thought Pete was a redhead.

Anywho, great picture of Mysa, all ethereal and willowy and fae and other words that I don't really know what they mean...

Jeckie needs more hair! Just my personal thing, I love the hair she had when she turned down the throne of Orando, telling her viziers that she had come to see temporal power too as yet another illusion, just before leaving to become Sensor Girl. (I guess that would be a useful comment if I had the slightest idea what issue it was in...)

I'd never seen Mekt with long hair (in the comics, anyway), so this looks more like the Lightning Lord I'm used to. I like it better than the long-haired look that seems to be more common around here.

Brainy and Element Lad, though, yikes. Both need a close encounter with the Silver Slasher, IMO. I do like the idea of an 'Einstein' looking Brainy, all wild hair and five-o-clock shadow, 'cause he's spent the last 67 hours straight working on something in the lab and he just can't be bothered with this grooming concept...

Posted by Thriftshop Debutante on :

A few more things. Hey, there's a lot to say!

Mekt in midnight blue: yes.

Use your secret weapon, Pete! No, not Superboy's identity -- your freckles!

Beauty Blaze, you seem to be the only brown-eyed blond. Play it up!

Last but not least...
Hooray for the Sketchmeister! These Model contests are pure fun.

PROJECTRA. It's not so much the over-the-topness and toplessness. It's the my-eyes-just-got-messily-gouged-out look. I'm afraid that's never appealed to me.
BRAINY. I think we've swerved from "sexily unkempt" to 12th Level Intellects with Dirty Faces

[Athramites]

Relnic. Working the Eisner retro vibe! Very nice.

Jan. Working the Mandalla - vibe. Did you guys call each other up before school-a-tron to coordinate?

Pete Rossen. I wanna see the outtakes - the couple of dozen pics where he couldn't keep a straight face.

Azura. A bit of a Nagel influence?

Mekt. Mmmm. Mekt.

THE REJECTS
Princess Projectra -- For someone who knows the value of image, she just went way over the top with this one. At best, she looks like a Venturan chorus girl.

Pete Ross -- It is possible to be dramatic, yet still recognizable! Great for a costume party, but your style was "the boy next door"... unless it's the "boy next door" from Rimbor?

THE BEST
White Witch -- She almost seems to glow under the light. That and the softer airbrushed effect of her face makeup giver her the needed unearthly quality. Like a spirit inviting you to join her in her realm.

Mekt Ranzz -- Wow! [Smile] On him the "lightning scar" effect works. Very cyberpunk vibe from him; communicates more of the "bad boy" theme than his original picture.

THE KEEPERS
Beauty Blaze -- The "wind tunnel hair" actually works with the makeup effect in her case, though I'm still not too fond of her.

Ambassador Relnic -- Some may complain he wasn't going wild, but if he'd gotten too wild with the makeup it would cost him his dignity. I see him as in this as George Hamilton was in "Dancing With the Stars"; he can be commanding, but he can also call upon humor to lighten the mood.

Brainiac 5 -- He's letting his hair down and being more playful. Or should I say (considering the stripes)... kittenish? [Wink]

Queen Azura -- If not for Jeckie throwing her dignity out the window, I would have voted this as worst. There's no drama... it looks more like a half-finished picture, the way this blends into the background.

Element Lad -- Not the best work done with this. It's not particularly dramatic.

Policy Pam -- She's at least trying to enjoy this, though the drama levels are only average.

Reject Relnic and Projecta.

Sorry, Relnic, but you're just not working the *dramatic* vibe. You needed to make that gravitas *work* for you.

Projecta, honey, if you screw up your makeup, next time just wipe it off and start over.

On Notice:

Policy Pam, you might want to look up *drama* in a space-dictionary. I'd say you were lucky I was otherwise distracted but, considering you were supposed to *draw* my attention, well.

Brainy... okay, so you were at a disadvantage here - your complexion barred you from achieving the coal on alabaster effect the others pulled off so well. But I promise you, whoever suggested the Jungle Coluan theme is laughing themselves silly in the sidelines.

To be voted out:

Princess Projectra - was she trying to look like Infectious Lass?

Ambassador Relnic - As an older person, he just doesn't handle make-up very well.

I loved Pete Ross' punk look. Queen Azura was stunning.

Yes! I agree.

Even if he wasn't a high-level diplomat and therefore holding himself to a high level of decorum, Relnic doesn't strike me as Mr. Wild-and-Crazy Guy. But he just might wear a arrow-through-the-head band once for a laugh.

Side note: I know his first name is Anton but it's more fun say "Relnic"

Men - Pete Ross
Women - Policy Pam

Queen Azura, Mekt and the White Witch kicked all sorts of booty in this one. Wow. Brainy might have been able to make a stronger statement with a more dramatic contrast, but just missed...

Jeckie? Ouch. But unlike Pam, I think she might be able to pull it out in later challenges, if given the opportunity.

Men - Ambassador Relnic: Not avant-garde enough. As much as I love homages to Alan Scott, this seemed out of place with the others.

Women - Queen Azura: Again, compared with the others, she's too tame.

I kinda liked Brainy the best, really. That was really cool.

I'm enjoying this so far

Element Lad and Policy Pam get my votes because of their tameness.

Ambassador Relnic was pretty tame, too, but I like him better than Jan. I just hope he gets the message and loosens up a bit in the future. Queen Azura had less makeup, but the picture was more dramatic.

Polls are closed! Thank you to everyone who participated.

Ambassador Anton Relnic has been eliminated from the competition.

Policy Pam and Princess Projectra have tied, so a tie breaker challenge will be created in order to determine which should go.

5 for Projectra: Set, Seth G, S. Seymour, FC, Mystery Lad

Eep! You're right, TD. But your vote was to reject Projectra. So that'd be 6 votes to reject her and 5 to reject Pam.

Sorry about the omission! I think I thought it was just a fun lil animation along the way.

However, the polls are still open! We'll see what happens....

SOOOOOOOOO...

As much as I love Pam, it's my girl Jeckie that's been there through the years, snapping necks and lapsing into comas like nobody else.

PAM OUT!

Posted by Sketch Lad on :

7 to keep Pam
6 to keep Projectra

It's tense...it's been a long road...I'm going to publicly cast *my* vote to KEEP PAM!

Jecky has been with the Legion ever since lil Jim Shooter started. She had plenty of activity including lapsing into fevers and comas and neck snapping. She came back in TMK, she was rebooted as Snecky and she is in the current Threeboot. Pam needs some attention. Let's see how she does from now on....

Thank you and apologies to all those pulling for her.

Who will save the Princess? NO ONE, apparently! You've only yourselves to blame if Jeckie lapses into a coma so powerful that she never wakes up!

Conversely, it's always nice to have Policy Pam around!

Posted by Sketch Lad on :

Okay, now I can spill....

Yes, Relnic did want to keep it conservative. Everyone thought it was uncanny how much he looked like Alan Scott, Green Lantern.

I LOVED the Projectra picture! I'm sure if I had chosen to make her the sophisticated, regal Jex instead of the Bombshell, things may have turned out differently for her. However, roles were determined and had to be adhered to.

Brainy is SO much fun to draw this way! Love it, hope he doesn't get cut very soon.

Should Jan get a haircut? Should that be allowed now? Jan Fans, speak up!

Mysa is a dream girl! Love her this way.

Azura wanted to stand out, and I think she did.

Beauty Blaze is a kick to draw. Hair everywhere.

Love that I got a "cyber punk" comment about Mekt! Totally what I'm going for. I want him distinguished, like he's a bit older, but not Relnic style. Hope it's working.

Wow, was it hard to convince Pam to put that make-up on! Medical release forms, promises to cover any expenses that may be incurred by skin irritation. Eye care contracts. Etc Etc. Then, the final design ended up being pretty basic, but actually elegant in its simplicity.

Pete was SO much fun to work with on this one! First of all, he had NEVER even seen make up before, and certainly not 31st century make up. He kept giggling and saying that it tickled. His hair was very hard to work with because he had never used any products on it before. He always just combed it the way the barber did after his frequent trims. So, we had to use all kinds of organics on it. Finally, we were able to get it to stand up like that in the faux-hawk. Then, as Teeds mentioned, it was near impossible to get a decent "punk" picture of him, because he couldn't keep a straight face. We actually would have liked a more outrageous shot of him, but he was simply too nice to go there.

The next challenge is being produced right now. It's another simple one, where the personalities of the contestants needs to shine through the imagery.

Stay tuned!

Mekt, if I may comment upon this...

The claims of Garth's food being poisoned would be going too far, as that would be a deliberate act of sabotage. Though I certainly grant you the point that the judges being incapacitated by Garth's food would impact your business, as people in general lay the blame upon you if they hear anything bad about the Ranzz name.

Posted by Sketch Lad on :

Here at Pinup Models, Inc, we have been FLOODED with holos of support for Garth Ranzz, Lightning Lad. Do you know that there are sentients out there who would *like* the opportunity to be poisoned by him? His charisma and heroism far out shine any gastronomical blunders he may have made. Naturally Brande has called off his space lawyers, Sun Boy has been kidding with Garth about having a "roast off" barbeque challenge after this is over. It's true that Aven has not let down his psychic defenses ever since the incident, but Garth's girlfriend, Imra (Saturn Girl) has calmed Aven considerably. Everything's fine.

Mekt, you are ALWAYS welcome to come here and communicate, but I would advise you not to allow yourself to become stressed. You need your rest in order to look good in those holoshoots. You know there is very little touching up done.

Oh, and we are confused about the Drura comment. She won. Why would she question that?

Moving on...

The next challenge, as previewed by Dreamy, is coming along. Mekt, you will be appearing second to last (7th), so you have some time to regain your composure.

Is Lightning Lad huge on Bismoll?

And let me tell ya...even though RJ, Dirk, and Aven may be forgiving, you know what's not? Space-Bureaucracy. From his own account, it sounds like Mr. Garth Ranzz accepted culinary employment with a food handler's space-permit gained at least partially by fraud ("in disguise") or perhaps no space-permit at all. Pinup Models Inc. may very well find itself fined if it's found they were out of compliance with space-permit regulations when they hired the food-floundering founder.

I also sense a stern lecture from Cham in the works. Something along the lines of My People Have Been Battling Fear, Suspicion, and Prejudice For As Long As We Can Remember And Humanoid Stunts Like This Don't Really Help; You Need To Think About Consequences Before Acting. But much longer.

Infectious Lass is part of the Pinup Models Family, so we support her 100%. If it is found that Lightning Lad's, or anyone else's appetizers were the reason people fell ill during her try-outs, we will pool all of our resources into backing her. Don't know what that means, exactly, though...

Speaking of our resources, we have retained the best legal experts and insurance experts money can buy! We are sure that the matter will be settled appropriately, swiftly, and in such a manner that those of us who wish to focus more on the creative side of this competition, can do so.

I don't buy this one either, Mekt... If Proty was doing this to "save" Garth from the consequences of the food, there's no need for that. Most people have accepted and forgiven that.

If Proty's doing this to take all that support given to Garth for himself, he's in serious trouble. The UP has some rather strict regulations concerning the use of shapeshifting abilities... and if they don't land on Proty, the Durlans will!

I'm a bit disappointed that Aven has bowed out (though I certainly understand why) because he sure is easy on the eyes.

I still don't like Lester's blond hair, but if my baby's happy, I'm happy. Well, when he's having a space-hissy I'm happy too. Isn't he adorable? [Lester Spiffany]

I vote Element Lad. Soul Patch Boy just isn't doing it for me, even post-haircut.

And speaking of elements, Beauty Blaze belongs in fire, not air. She just doesn't look quite herself.

Posted by Thriftshop Debutante on :

All right, here we go.

Element Lad. From the way you're running your hands through your hair and smiling, it seems like you're enjoying your new haircut. (I know I am.)

Let's go back to the previous challenge. Although I did not explicitly state on notice, you sure as stars were. In fact, a few hours after I cast my vote I thought I should have voted out Jan.

It's true I hated the hair, but hey, I think a few people liked it. Different space-strokes. No, the larger problem was lifting Mandalla's look. Why, why, why? Again, different space-strokes, this time meaning you should exhibit them.

I think you'll advance to the next round without problem, but Jan, you're remaining on notice as a reminder.

Queen Azura: compare this with her intro photo. Her free-swinging hair looks so much more fresh and flattering than that over-done 'do. (Stuffy!) The tiara-ette is playful and works well with this challenge.

Brainy: the black & blue sets off the Coluan complexion very well, so why don't I like this pic?

Beauty Blaze: uh-oh. Blaze, the darkest blonde in the competition, benefits least from the color scheme. She is much better suited to (in all seriousness) warm tones of red, orange, gold, and cocoa. Blaze is intriguing and her intro picture gave me high hopes, but I'm worried she's going to get voted out here. I'm worried I'm going to vote her out here.

Pete. Okay, who put the Ross kid's head on The Tick's body?

Pete, you seem to have that "young adult gazing into the future" pose so popular on college brochures. But...you are in the future.

Others let their hair down, Pete Ross lets his hair up. Ahhh, I kid 'cause I love, Pete.

Mysa: hold me closer, modern dancer!

Mekt: what I said last time. I would mention the bedroom eyes but only one is visible and "bedroom eye" doesn't quite...sound...right.

Pam: "That tickles!"
The best of all. Rock on, Comeback Queen.

VOTE OUT:

BRAINY

and, reluctantly,

BEAUTY BLAZE

Hmmm.

I felt Brainy's skin-tone didn't work with my favorite color (I'm wearing it now!). Perhaps a darker blue...

Pam's portrait was my least favorite of the femmes this go-round.

Other notes:

Jan may well take it for the guys now that he's had the haircut.

Blaze, I want to see you *snap crackle and POP* in your next pic.

Azura gets my vote for most improved!

I always thought this would be a great color for an 'official' E-Lad uniform, maybe a shade or too more pastel. He has gold/brown eyes, doesn't he? Did that change with the new continuity?

Of course, in the 31st century you probably have to do little more than blink to change your eye color.

Sigh. Jeckie would've looked stunning in this challenge, if she'd made it.

Alright, there are enough votes, enough of a margin, and enough time to call it... polls are now closed.

Goodbye Brainiac 5 and Policy Pam!

Posted by Sketch Lad on :

Now that the elimination is done, I think the best behind-the-scenes commentary should come from Storm Boy:

"Overall, the women were more into this challenge than the men. I think it had to do with the wardrobe. These guys are used to skin tight fabrics, but I think the lack of layers and accessories threw them off.

Pete tried to give that heroic look, just like Brande mentioned, and I think he did well.

Element Lad was mostly interested in showing off his new hairstyle, which actually gave him something to do in the shot.

Brainiac 5 wasn't really sure what to do, so the best shot we could get of him was a bit awkward. I suppose that might be why he got voted off.

Mekt was not very nice, so I just sent a slight breeze around the room. He looked good, though.

The ladies were a lot more fun to work with. I think wind isn't Beauty Blaze's favorite thing, ever. I suppose that makes sense. She didn't seem very comfortable, but she's so good looking, it's hard to take a bad holo of her.

Azura didn't want her hair messed up, and she was very protective of her tiara, so I had to keep the wind very gentle around her.

Pam was having a LOT of fun, but I think she forgot to model, to pose. She just did a lot of laughing and giggling. She was great, but I don't think she's really cut out for the competitive nature of this competition.

Mysa was wonderful! Again, I kept the breeze light because her hair is so long, but she was twirling and doing lots of interesting things with her hands and made the whole thing seem really...magical! Heh!

It was nice to get this gig and nice to come across some Legionnaires again. Glad Triplicate Girl wasn't around. She's scary!"

Looks like I missed this vote.

All looked good. I can say that I disagree with who was rejected. (meaning I didn't see anyone else who I thought looked worse)

Hey Quis! I was even pretty patient that time!

The pictures for the next challenge are done, just need to finish Nura's and the judge's parts and put it all together. Remember the votes for Kathoon? They'll come into play and it's lovely.

Ah, the tropical nights!
Time to vote!

Which Gold or Platinum haired contestants will go this time? Vote to reject one man and one woman...

Element Lad
Pete Ross
Mekt Ranzz

Beauty Blaze
Queen Azura
White Witch

Ooh, first votes!!

For the boys, I'm sorry but Pete Ross just doesn't do it for me. Sorry bud.

As for the ladies, it pains me so but I think it's Mysa's time. Hers is the weakest of the three.

Absolutely loved Element Lad, Beauty Blaze and Queen Azura. I feel like they've all really hit their stride. Mekt was sexy, though I would've liked to see a little more from him.

Can't wait for more, Dean!!

Much as I love Pete Ross, his picture doesn't do anything for me. Very boring.

And Queen Azura looks like she is about to fall asleep.

So those are the two I am voting to reject.

You really aren't making it easy, Sketchie.

I'll go with Beauty Blaze again, just because she's still somewhat out of her element. The Mysa pic is absolutely stunning this time, and Azura is looking good as well.

I'm torn on Pete's picture. On the one hand, he looks kind of awkward perched there on those two rocks. I keep imagining him about to fall off. On the other hand, I think it kind of takes guts for him to be there, so I'll give him credit for that. I think Element Lad chose a great location, and his pic looks really good. The Mekt pic doesn't do much for me, however.

So I'm voting BEAUTY BLAZE and MEKT RANZZ.

I'm voting out BEAUTY BLAZE and PETE ROSS.

And Jan for most improved! Hiking up your leg while wearing a thong is a sure way to sway the gay vote in your favor!

PS/ all 3 of the girls were especially lovely this round.

I'm considering to refuse to vote out any of the women this time, they all look great. Excellent job, Dean.

Oh, OK, Mysa, under duress. And Pete.

Kathoon's lovely.

Nice Lydda tribute, Dreamy!

I can see Blaze going to join Jan (who is now off notice) on Sizzle Peak after her holoshoot.

Mysa's a sprite! Flower bikini: super-cute! She may want to step a bit further away from the Glow Blooms, though, because she looks like she's badly non-sunburned.

Pete: you picked a great location. Your pose, however, is the same as last challenge. This is not good.

Mekt: on a roll.

RJ! This is the least dangerous Mekt's looked throughout this contest. That's just the moon reflected in his eye. I think.

OUT:

PETE

AZURA

Too much more from him and sentients would be space-arrested.

Pete Ross to go; give him credit for trying, but he's just not that interesting. And the way his hands are positioned, it looks like he's trying to hold up his swimsuit. [Smile]

Queen Azura to go. I can understand using the flora as a "figleaf" to placate more conservative worlds. But she was overdoing the hiding behind the plume blooms.

Voting out Pete and Mysa. The ladies were very difficult to choose among, but I preferred the darker and more mysterious looks of Azura and Blaze. It was pretty daring for Pete to be out there like Charles Atlas, but he just didn't have the animal spirit of the other guys.

Jan: Yeow!
Mekt: YEOW!!

I had no idea Kathoon itself could be so lovely.

Queen Azura and Pete Ross to go.

Pete looks as if he has no idea how he ended up there or what on Kathoon he is supposed to do now, but willing to make the best of it. Still, optimistic confusion does not a good photo shoot make.

Once again, it was really difficult to pick one of the Ladies, but Queen Azura looks a bit too much like a drowsy flower pistil for my taste.

Jan really is greatly improved, and Mysa is lovely as ever.

For the men, it is clear that Pete Ross' time is up. For the women, a very tight race, but finally, Azura took the lead, ensuring her rejection from the competition!

Okay, we started off with 10 contestants, and now it's time to narrow it down to 2, a male winner and a female winner.

Who should be rejected?
Mekt Ranzz or Element Lad

Which should go?
White Witch or Beauty Blaze

Please vote...polls are open!

Well well well.

I really like Element Lad with his chin hair, so even though Mekt cut his hair, I have to reject him.

And as much as I'd love to vote for Mysa, I have to reject her. She look more pale than platimum. Blaze Beauty lives up to her name.

I'm with Quis. Mekt and Mysa have to go. The other two just blow them out of the water.

Over already? This has been fun. Can't wait for the redheads/brown-heads all-autumn face-off!

Despite feeling that it's a crime Jeckie and Azura were ejected with such stunning portraits offered, there is no doubt who wins this round for me.

GOLD all the way. Jan & Blaze to win!

The platinums were just a pale imitation. Sorry Mekt and Mysa.

Note: Jan, who I once thought would go early, is a testament to the sensual power of a good haircut! (and a loincloth!!)

One gold - Jan - and one platinum - Mysa - get my reject vote.

Mekt can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.

Interesting how it all came down:

One gold, one platinum on each side. The hot, the cool.
Two triumph-over-tragedy Legionnaires, two future LSVers.
And Mekt vs. Jan for Porcupine Pete's sake!

THE WOMEN. BLAZE to win

ThE MEN. A far stronger final competition on the men's side. MEKT to win

Although I'm voting based on this challenge, can I say that Mekt hasn't had a bad shot in this competition? For someone on the cool side he has scorched his way through this whole thing.

Lester sure is acting reasonable and polite. I hope that's not going to last long.

That space-dyejob must have him temporarily addled.

Mekt? No, no, no. Jan is such a hottie with the soul patch and the carefully disheveled hair. From earlier pics, I was pulling for Mekt, but like Lash said, there's power in a good haircut. Jan's is better and puts him over the top in this round. Jan to win.

It's tough to decide for the women. These are two really stunning headshots, so I can't really judge on any objective standards. So, totally subjective, I'm going with Mysa to win.

Posted by Sketch Lad on :

Sorry, Suddenly Seymour. Your picks have been rejected.

Congratulations to Mekt Ranzz and Beauty Blaze!

Another really great competition. Thank you to everyone who commented and participated in voting.

SO much fun!

Dean! I like the incorporation of the various pics in the winning pinups.

So...did and RJ and Dirk make it back from Alien Foods for Courageous Gourmets?

Posted by Sketch Lad on :

Thanks for mentioning the little pictures used on the winners' pinups. I thought it was a fun touch.

I have to assume that new caterers have been hired. Maybe someone really good from Restaurant Row? We haven't heard from Dirk or Mr. Brande about any problems...
