Well, we certainly can't discuss PRESENT letters columns, can we?

Historically, I believe THE LEGION in its various series has had the best columns.

In particular, the letters pages during TMK stand out, as does Levitz' column during the Baxter era.

And those precious, precious silver-age ADVENTURE comics columns... really, I think they should have been included in the ARCHIVES...

I remember someone quipping during what had to be Levitz' Baxter run that "Phantom Girl has had her costume so long, it's come back into style". And it was true!

LOL.

I love the Legion letter columns. WIsh they would bring em back, although they became more redundant with the advent of the message board and such things as Previews...

Will someone post a link to the site that has the old columns?

Always loved letter columns. And now it's especially fun to read them and see names of people I know - iirc: Shady, Lardy, EDE, Rhino and...others(*tee hee!*).

Thanks Nighty! I can't believe I haven't gotten around to reading them before now, but I just took a look and they're a hoot! Man were some people hell-bent on seeing Lana and Superboy marry - even if in an imaginary story!

Let's not forget the univere's most important LEGION letter column-- LEGION LOST # 6, which features an excerpt from the DC MB about my inane ramblings about Monstress and her popularity. Back then, more than likely posted when I was high.

From LSHv2#274:

Dear Jack,

You asked us readers to come up with some 30th century slang that is obvious enough not to need translating. I ran across the following in some back issues of S/LSH: Saturn Girl says "cool up" when she means "calm down"; that's a little confusing, I guess. Light Lass complains about being sent on a "wild Klanth chase", and a science police officer refers to someone as "a pain in the kolodny". Those certainly don't need translation( and I'll bet the comics code won't let you explain "kolodny")!

We can't understand why you don't think the comics code would not allow us to explain just what "kolodny" means. In fact, a kolodny is the area between the hairline and the middle of the shoulder blades as expressed in the language of the planet Winath. So in translating, "a pain in the kolodny" one would find the expression, "a pain in the neck"!
