Hey guys:

So on the computers at my house, we aren't able to get to the ebay webpage. Now, before I re-hooked them up through a router, we were able to get to ebay.

Do you think it's b/c the cookies on the ebay webpage are not jiving with the router? If so, what can I do to fix the problem?

I'll reiterate:

-Before, when it was one PC hooked up through a modem, we could access ebay.

-Now, with a PC and a laptop hooked up through a router, we cannot access ebay. We can access almost every site on the internet, but a specific few are not coming up. They are Ebay, hotmail.com, and a very few others.

Ideas? Anything would be very helpful! Thanks in advance!

It definitely does sound like the router is causing the problem. But another possibility iswhether your internet provider added a firewall recently. If so, the firewall may be blocking those sites for some reason.

I'm no expert so can't recommend anything other than disconnecting the router but perhaps Grey or Reboot or Scott or one of the other more computer savvy posters can help you sort it out.

well my problem is with Norton internet security, ever since tuesday, norton internet security has bolcked access to internet explorer, after many calls to my isp they finally suggested that i disable it and when i did i was able to get to the web sites. and if i inable it blocks all access. i tried contacting symantech & dell and their suggestion for what to do didn't work either.
i've tried just disabling the firewall while leaving NIS on and it still doesn't work. and i'm just worried that if i keep web surfing with it disabled something bad will happen.
any suggestions?

Have you tried to access the sites using another browser (i.e. Netscape, FireFox, etc)? IE seems to be more of a problem than any of the others. I use Netscape and never seem to have the problems that IE users do.

hadn't thought of that but the other problem with the Norton's INS is that since it blocks both MSN's explorer and Internet explorer i can't access my email form MSN and Earthlink.
