1. Captain America vs. Cyclops = Captain America
2. Giant Man vs. Danger (Cyborg formally known as the danger room) = Giant Man I first had this as all Danger but ... maybe Hank Pym could come up with something with enough time.
3. Dr. Strange vs. Magik = Dr. Strange Magik may be able to teleport him to a place where she rules supreme but ... he's Dr. Strange ... with or without the Sorcerer Supreme title ... he specializes in going to other dimensions and kicking it's rulers butts!
4. Iron Man vs. Emma Frost = Iron Man because he could blast her from out of range of her telepathy. I think.
5. Spider Man vs. Ice Man = Spidey He's Spider Man. Sorry Bobby. Super powerful as you are.
6. Iron Fist vs. Gambit = Iron Fist Iron Fist is one of the people that can actually dodge Gambit's cards and hit Gambit, and when he does he's gonna put him through a wall.
7. Thing vs. Namor = Namor Namor. Hasn't he fought the whole F.F. before ?
8. Daredevil vs. Beast = Beast Sorry Daredevil ... Beast.
9. Spider Woman vs. Psylocke = Psylocke As much as I love Jessica Drew.
10. Black Widow vs. Frenzy (super strong former villain) = Frenzy Frenzy ... barely.
11. Mocking bird vs. Domino = Domino Domino all the way.
12. Luke Cage vs. Magma = Magma Magma opens up a volcano and it eats him.
13. Hawkeye vs. Sunspot = Hawkeye
14. Sharon Carter vs. Danielle Moonstar = Dani
15. Red Hulk vs. Juggernaut Colossus = Colossus He's not the Green Hulk
16. Black Panther vs. Kitty Pryde = Kitty Pryde She's Kitty Pryde.
17. Thor vs. Magneto = Magneto I'm a fan of the uber powerful villain magneto. Sorry Thor. 18. Scarlet Witch vs. Storm = Storm Storm can take her down from the next state.
19. Protector/Nor Vahr (Marvel Boy) vs. Rachel Grey = Rachel Grey (huge fan here)
20. Ms. Marvel vs. Rogue Ms. Marvel. Yeah ... even with the new Rogue's bevy of powers.
21. She Hulk vs. Polaris = Polaris. I think.
22. Nova vs. Cable = Cable
23. Falcon vs. Havok = Havok. ouch.
24. Vision vs. Warlock = Warlock. I think.
25. Hercules vs. Wolverine = Hercules?

1. Captain America vs. Cyclops - Cap would eat Cyke alive.
2. Giant Man vs. Danger (Cyborg formally known as the danger room) - Hank has this one in the bag. He owns all AI.
3. Dr. Strange vs. Magik - sorcerer supreme dominates
4. Iron Man vs. Emma Frost - Iron Man, plus he might, as Snookie would say, get it in
5. Spider Man vs. Ice Man - Spidey
6. Iron Fist vs. Gambit - Fist takes Remy to school.
7. Thing vs. Namor - hardest one...but probably Namor
8. Daredevil vs. Beast - DD
9. Spider Woman vs. Psylocke - Betsy
10. Black Widow vs. Frenzy (super strong former villain) - Widow
11. Mocking bird vs. Domino - Domino
12. Luke Cage vs. Magma - Magma, with authority
13. Hawkeye vs. Sunspot - Clint via mind games
14. Sharon Carter vs. Danielle Moonstar - Dani
15. Red Hulk vs. Juggernaut Colossus - Colossus b/c it's General Ross
16. Black Panther vs. Kitty Pryde - T'Challa outsmarts her
17. Thor vs. Magneto - Thor can probably beat all the mutants...at once
18. Scarlet Witch vs. Storm - Storm
19. Protector/Nor Vahr (Marvel Boy) vs. Rachel Grey - Rachel should have this.
20. Ms. Marvel vs. Rogue - Rogue just has Carol beat. Maybe not in the 70's, but now? No doubt.
21. She Hulk vs. Polaris - Polaris
22. Nova vs. Cable - Cable, via his experience training similar heroes (Sam)
23. Falcon vs. Havok - Havok
24. Vision vs. Warlock - Vision has this in the bag.
25. Hercules vs. Wolverine - I love Herc but Wolvie is more clever. He'd take him out through sheer grit.

1. Captain America vs. Cyclops Tough one! Captain America can stop Cyclop's optic blasts cold, but Cyclops can re-aim as fast as his eyes can track, and is smart enough to aim at the ground, or nearby destructible terrain, if he's having trouble connecting. On the other hand, if Cap can get into hand to hand range, Cyke is toast. I'll give this one to Captain America, only because he's far more likely to pull out a win against dire odds.
2. Giant Man vs. Danger (Cyborg formally known as the danger room)
Giant-Man. Danger is not a patch on Ultron's shiny metallic bum. 'Mad killer robots' are practically Pyms favored enemy... 3. Dr. Strange vs. Magik
I love me some Ilyanna, but even a washed up ex-Sorcerer Supreme is out of her league. Demons will be summoned, and sent packing. Portals will be opened, and slammed shut. Ilyanna will go all Darkchylde, and Dr. Strange will turn her own darkness against her.
4. Iron Man vs. Emma Frost Tony's not Batman. If he gets the drop on Emma, he can keep her in diamond form, and unable to reach him or telepathically attack him, by just pouring on the firepower, so that she can't risk turning back to provocatively displayed flesh. But nobody gets the drop on a telepath. Emma wins, and Tony gets the mother of all flashbacks to his wastrel alcoholic days.
5. Spider Man vs. Ice Man A match between two kinda/sorta friends who don't really have their hearts in it. Peter will hold back a little too much, and bring an olive branch to a knife-fight. Dodging (and / or punching his way out of) a literal ton of ice will force a rapidly frostbitten Spider-Man to stop holding back and to unleash his full strength on Iceman's icy body, rending him unconscious, and leaving Peter in no condition to continue fighting, making it a pyrrhic victory.
6. Iron Fist vs. Gambit I like Iron Fist many times more than Gambit, but super-human agility, and an effective ranged attack, give Gambit a leg up in this match. Gambit can stay away from the brutal Iron Fist of Danny Rand, and barrage him with explosive projectiles, against which Danny has little defensive recourse, other than trying to dodge a frustrating man who is superhumanly fast and accurate, and only has to hit *near* him to catch him in an explosive blast...
7. Thing vs. Namor Imperious Rex! It's Clobberin' Time! Two men who never give up, head to head, each having stood against foes like the Hulk, and accounted themselves well. A fight like this comes down to writer's fiat, and writers go for Grimm, 9 times out of 10. The Sub-Mariner is gonna be sleepin' with the fishes!
8. Daredevil vs. Beast Matt is no match for the superhuman agility and strength (and toughness) of Dr. McCoy. (Who *is* a fighter, as well as a doctor, Jim!) Even if Daredevil can lure the Beast into a situation where his excellent night vision is nullified, and Daredevil's radar sense gives him an advantage, the Beast *also* has keen hearing *and* a sense of smell not terribly worse than Wolverines. The only reason that this fight won't be over in moments, is because Hank is more of a talker than a fighter, and will hold back, while Murdock is far more practical, and will try for a nerve strike or similar tactic, only to find out that the Beast is, in fact, a Beast and does not sucker-punch easy...
9. Spider Woman vs. Psylocke If Psylocke is telepathic this week, she has a chance, but Spider-Woman has mobility, speed, strength, toughness and ranged firepower on her side, which will allow her to more easily overcome a telekinetic Betsy. If Betsy's a telepath, she wins. If she's a telekinetic, she loses.
10. Black Widow vs. Frenzy (super strong former villain) Frenzy is brutally strong and tough. It would be a miracle for Natasha to even be able to hurt her (although she can't miss the bruiser, who doesn't bother to dodge, ever). But this isn't 'Tasha's first day on the job. Or first decade, even. Frenzy is overconfident, and tends to take on challenges headfirst, and will be frustrated by the Black Widow's avoidance of close combat, aggravating her with widow's stings from out of reach, and luring her into a building that Frenzy will smash to bring Natasha down to her level, only to find out that the lovely spy has rigged the ground beneath her with explosives, so that Frenzy, the street beneath her, and the building above her, plunge into the subways, leaving Frenzy pinned beneath tons of wreckage, cursing her temper.
11. Mocking bird vs. Domino Some epic snarky banter ends with a 'lucky shot' from Domino, who was meeting her match in hand to hand with the nimble staff-fighter. Domino only wins by 'chance,' but that's her thing. 12. Luke Cage vs. Magma Magma's got all sorts of power that 'Power Man' can't match, but she's also a bit too self-assured at times. Tremors will keep him off his feet while she wraps him up in molten magma, causing it to instantly solidify into rock ('cause she doesn't want to fry him, just contain him!). Unfortunately, she'll stand a little too close, and when he breaks free, chunks of volcanic rock fly in all directions at great speed, one of them knocking her for a loop. Luke Cage wins, by dint of being more popular, for the most part.
13. Hawkeye vs. Sunspot Sunspot's original powers of super-strength would have left him ill-suited to handle the Marvel Universe's most colorful archer, but having learned to channel his power to fly, and produce destructive bolts of energy, he'll attempt to seize the high ground, only to discover that Hawkeye's got arrows for every occasion, including concealing smoke arrows (making him bloody hard to shoot), and various disorienting sonic and gas and strobe arrows that bring Sunspot to the ground, where a boxing glove arrow to the face ignobly ends this match.
14. Sharon Carter vs. Danielle Moonstar Sharon is *not* a fan of the 'let's talk this out, I don't really want to fight you' school of thought, and brought a rifle to this knifefight. Dani is no easy target, and a potentially deadly game of keep away begins, with the two women hunting each other. Sharon makes the mistake of going on the aggressive, after wounding Dani in their first encounter, and overconfidently allows herself to be lured into a trap set by Dani, blowing the crap out of a bit of rubble wearing Dani's jacket, only to get blindsided by the ex-mutant.
15. Red Hulk vs. Juggernaut Colossus The confrontation between the Thing and Namor registers on the Richter scale, but even their earth-shattering grudge-match can't compare to the devastation that will be unleashed if these two go head to head. The Red Hulk has had a good run of being 'the strongest there is,' but the Crimson Bands of Cytorrak have always been Dr. Strange's go-to spell for keeping the Hulk under control, and their power now gives Piotr the edge he needs to turn the dials up to 11, and bring the Red Hulk down.
16. Black Panther vs. Kitty Pryde Kitty is untouchable, until T'Challa demonstrates that he's more than a dude in a cat-suit, and uses vibranium to cause her molecules to temporarily slide back into phase, and places the young ex-ninja in a headlock until she passes out. 17. Thor vs. Magneto Another earth-shaking match up, as the powers of the unified field theory come up against divine mysticism. Magneto finds that even his unsurpassed power is, at the end of the day, still only mortal power, as Thor uses the power of the Odin-force through Mjolnir to drain the Master of Magnetism dry.
18. Scarlet Witch vs. Storm Two of Marvel's most powerful mutant femmes (not named Grey), both with powerful offense, and glass jaws! The Scarlet Witch's hex bolts are unpredicatble, but she's ultimately unwilling to use them with the sort of ruthlessness she'd need to win this fight (by giving Ororo a stroke or something), resulting in her being unable to even target the weather witch, soaring above her and pelting her with freezing winds, hail and impenetable fog. Battered and bruised, Wanda falls.
19. Protector/Nor Vahr (Marvel Boy) vs. Rachel Grey Rachel has amazing telepathic and telekinetic potential, and yet Noh Var is famous for pulling new powers out of his butt at times like this. He proves to be surprisingly resistant to telepathy, momentarily trapping her with a reactive psychic defense that causes her to become lost in his mind, and before Rachel can adjust to this startling turn of events, he's able to knock her out with a toxic kiss.
20. Ms. Marvel vs. Rogue The grudge match to end all grudge matches! Rogue regrets this encounter, and holds back, until Carol's dogged persistence and barely-concealed contempt raises Rogue's on ire, and it is on! Rogue switches from power to power, at first seeming overmatch Carol, but Carol Does. Not. Give. Up! Bloodied, but unbowed, her determination shakes Rogue's confidence, and before she can switch powers to adapt, Carol lays her out with an uppercut.
21. She Hulk vs. Polaris Polaris makes the mistake of thinking that she can just fly over this fight and rain debris down on the Jade Giantess, but the She-Hulk is no stranger to that tactic, and returns Polaris' metallic missiles with many times their force, overwhelming the emerald-tressed mutant's magnetic defenses and driving her from the sky.
22. Nova vs. Cable Looking down at the musclebound cyborg lying unconscious before him, Richard Ryder nudges him with a boot, and wonders aloud, "Who is this hyperthyroid freakshow, and why did he shoot a gun at me?"
23. Falcon vs. Havok At first, the Falcon hopes to stay out of sight, and harass the cosmic-powered mutant with birds summoned from all over the city, but he's overcoming with psychic shock as hundreds of birds are instantly charred by the aura of power that radiates from Alex Summers in all directions. There is no escape, and as the Falcon is staggered by the shared sensations of his many avian surrogates, Havok fires a precise beam of plasma that damages his anti-gravity thrusters, causing him to drop to the ground with enough force to stun him.
24. Vision vs. Warlock The Vision's datafiles provide warning of the dangers of the transmode virus, and he remains intangible, attempting to stun the Technarch prince long enough to be able to use his signature phasing attack to disrupt his mechanical inner workings. Alas, while Warlock is pained terribly by the solar heat of the Vision's eyebeams, the Vision does not phase fast enough, and his assault succeeds in rendering Warlock insensate, at the cost of infecting himself with the transmode virus!
Technically, the Vision won, but he's about to become a far bigger threat...
25. Hercules vs. Wolverine "Little man, with your little knives. I applaud thee!" "No, really, I clap for you." Each clap produces a shockwave that hurls Logan/Steve/James/whatever he thinks his name was *this* week back hundreds of years, arse over teakettle. Hercules laughs and boasts, as he keeps clapping his hands and stomping his feet, keeping Wolverine from being able to stand upright, or avoid being thrown back by shockwave after shockwave. Long minutes pass, and Wolverine is aware of the smell of the ocean behind him, as the insufferable demigod says, "With yon metal bones, I wonder, canst thou swim???"

1. Captain America vs. Cyclops
Tough one! Cap's shield can take Cyke's optic blasts, but Cyke is a pretty tough cookie too.
I'd go with Cap's superior experience.
2. Giant Man vs. Danger (Cyborg formally known as the danger room)
How small can Hank get again? Small enough to win I think.
3. Dr. Strange vs. Magik
Dr. Strange for sure.
4. Iron Man vs. Emma Frost
Oooh. Another tough one, but I think Emma Frost is crafty and ruthless enough to win.
5. Spider Man vs. Ice Man
Spider Man
6. Iron Fist vs. Gambit
Hmmmm. Gambit has long-range attacking capability, but after researching on Iron Fist I think he can handle it.
7. Thing vs. Namor
Thing.
8. Daredevil vs. Beast
Beast's superior intelligence wins this one
9. Spider Woman vs. Psylocke
Psylocke's telepathy gives her the win.
10. Black Widow vs. Frenzy (super strong former villain)
Black Widow. Frenzy's strong but I don't think she's invulnerable.
11. Mocking bird vs. Domino
Super-powered Domino wins.
12. Luke Cage vs. Magma
Magma. She doesn't even have to get close to win.
13. Hawkeye vs. Sunspot
Sunspot.
14. Sharon Carter vs. Danielle Moonstar
Moonstar.
15. Red Hulk vs. Juggernaut Colossus
Red Hulk.
16. Black Panther vs. Kitty Pryde
Normally I'd give it to Panther, but Kitty's smart. Kitty
17. Thor vs. Magneto
Thor. 18. Scarlet Witch vs. Storm
Given her recent mental instability, I think Wanda will lose. Storm
19. Protector/Nor Vahr (Marvel Boy) vs. Rachel Grey
Rachel Grey
20. Ms. Marvel vs. Rogue
Rogue won once before, but I think Carol's prepared for her now. Ms. Marvel 21. She Hulk vs. Polaris
Polaris, cause of the long-range advantage.
22. Nova vs. Cable
Cable
23. Falcon vs. Havok
Havok, definitely.
24. Vision vs. Warlock
Vision.
25. Hercules vs. Wolverine
Hmm... Wolverine.

I'm not very familiar with Marvel characters so my votes may not jibe with others. I just couldn't pass up another Tourney competition.
---
1. Captain America vs. Cyclops
Captain America seems more tactical so him.
2. Giant Man vs. Danger (Cyborg formally known as the danger room)
If Giant Man is anything like Colossal Boy, he gets punked every chance the writer gets - so this writer will give him the win.
3. Dr. Strange vs. Magik
Age and wisdom seem like a superior advantage in the world of magic so Dr. Strange.
4. Iron Man vs. Emma Frost
Iron Man seems more powerful than Emma Frost to me so him. 5. Spider Man vs. Ice Man
Spider Man can't shoot any webs when he's encased in ice so Ice Man. 6. Iron Fist vs. Gambit
I think Iron Fist is a better fighter than Gambit so him. 7. Thing vs. Namor
Can Thing drown? If so, I'll give this to Namor. 8. Daredevil vs. Beast
This one seems fairly even. I think Beast will edge out the win. 9. Spider Woman vs. Psylocke
If she can shield her mind(?) from whatever Psylocke does Spider Woman could win this one. 10. Black Widow vs. Frenzy (super strong former villain)
Strength is a useless power against someone who's smart enough to counteract it so Black Widow. 11. Mocking bird vs. Domino
Mockingbird refuses to die again so her. 12. Luke Cage vs. Magma
Does Luke Cage have powers? I think Magma might win this one.
13. Hawkeye vs. Sunspot
As much as I love archers, sun/heat powers seem like they'd beat arrows. So Sunspot.
14. Sharon Carter vs. Danielle Moonstar
No idea so... Danielle Moonstar.
15. Red Hulk vs. Juggernaut Colossus
The whole deal with the Juggernaut is he's unstoppable right? And now he's combined with Colossus? That seems like a pretty winning combination. Him.
16. Black Panther vs. Kitty Pryde
I hate intangible characters in tourneys because, while they're so theoretically unbeatable (see how well Tinya and Kono did in the Legion one), writers find a way to incapicate them all the time in the comics. So do we also contrive a way to stop them in this fight or just let them win all the time until they come up against a psychic or something? I'd love to do the former and call this one for Black Panther but I think Kitty Pryde might still have the greater edge here so I'll give it to her. 17. Thor vs. Magneto
Thor seems like he could withstand a magnetic assault so him.
18. Scarlet Witch vs. Storm
I love weather-manipulation as a power but I think magic trumps it so Scarlet Witch.
19. Protector/Nor Vahr (Marvel Boy) vs. Rachel Grey
Gosh. No idea. ... Rachel Grey.
20. Ms. Marvel vs. Rogue
Assuming Rogue can absorb the powers of the right characters she could win this one.
21. She Hulk vs. Polaris
Unlike the Thor/Magneto fight, I think magnetism would win this one - so Polaris. 22. Nova vs. Cable
I think Nova is more powerful isn't he? Him.
23. Falcon vs. Havok
Havok seems more powerful/versatile here too. Him.
24. Vision vs. Warlock
Warlock I think. 25. Hercules vs. Wolverine
A god seems more powerful than the most over-exposed character in comics so Hercules.

What's interesting is Set and IB picked Emma over Tony, while Peebs and I picked Tony. This is because we've been reading (and laughing at) the mini and know Tony created a way to shut down her telepathy.

btw it appears that Betsy is a telepath this month ... from reading Uncanny X Force.
Frenzy is also fairly invulnerable but I'll still give it to IB that Black Widow has some huge trick to get it over on her.

Some upsets and some curious landslides ... and some surprisingly even results ... and some not in accordance with Marvel's current event picks!
my guess is the Avengers are either uber powerful or street level and the X-Men are more across the board averagely powerful.
(much closer than I thought ... I assumed it would be about 5 unbeatable Avengers versus 20 X-Men)
ROUND ONE :
<span style="font-size: 16px;">Avengers = 12 X-Men = 13</span>
I'll need a bit to set up round two .. and add an Avenger but I think I'll add a few more characters .. pm me if you want anyone added.
Northstar, Quicksilver, Sentry, Star Fox, Captain Marvel 2, Tigra, Cannonball, Banshee, Legion, Sunfire, Wonder Man, and many more have all been absent so far.
I'll probably just do about three rounds and call IT for whatever team is in the lead though.

1. Captain America vs. Namor
Surely this is a 4 part story line somewhere. I think Cap's never say die attitude pulls this one out, and Namor dosn't have the strategy to compete IMO ... and Cap is just strong enough to keep up with Namor until his plan falls into place.
Captain America 2. Giant Man vs. the Beast
tough one, giant size vs. beast strength and agility, both super smart, but I think the Beast finally snaps and disembowels Hank before Hank can shrink the Beast down to tiny size with Pym particles.
Beast.
3. Dr. Strange vs. Psylocke
I think Psylocke can use her telepathy to stay one step ahead of his combat spells, and when she has him on the ropes and is beating his face in ... Dr. Strange's plan B kicks in .. and his meager telepathic skills were enough to hide his pre prepared "teleport Psylocke to Hell" spell.
Dr. Strange
4. Iron Man vs. Polaris
Polaris. Unlike her dad she won't waste time trying to use the universal forces of the cosmos to beat Iron Man, nor use her powers on Iron Man's armor, I think Polaris will just harpoon him with sharp metal.
5. Iron Fist vs. Kitty Pryde
This one's tough. I don't think ninja Kitty can take out Iron Fist in a fight and while she's a brilliant scientist ... somehow I think the Fists going to be able to use some zen shit to come up with something to trick her and nerve pinch her when she's solid.
Sorry hot stuff. Iron Fist it is.
6. Black Widow vs. Dani Moonstar
wow. I love Dani but without her powers I can't see Natasha not winning this one.
Black Widow.
7. Hawkeye vs. Havok
Hawkeye. If he can avoid getting fried, or a building blasted down on him. he should be able to hit his mark with a well placed arrow. failing that there's always smoke arrows and a game of cat and mouse which Hawkeye would win.
8. Thor vs. Juggernaut Colossus
Thor can just teleport him away if it gets too tough. This seems like a bad guy right up Thor's alley.
9. Ms. Marvel vs. Storm
Ms. Marvel is invulnerable enough to make it to Storm and land a punch. Storm's only chance is being sneaky but Ms. Marvel is still not likely to be frozen and can absorb the energy of lightning. A hurricane and throwing a few buildings at her could slow her down but I think Ms. Marvel could get one in before she suffers too much.
Ms. Marvel
10. Vision vs. Sunfire
The heat makes the Vision suffer even in and out of intangibility but a super dense punch to the face takes out Shiro. and why has Shiro never been shown to be more than just a flaming guy ?
11. Hercules vs. Cable
Cable's telepathy and tk can't do much against an enraged Herc ... unless Cable unleashes his techno organic virus ... still ... Herc smashes him to bits. "I hate modern technology!!!"
12. the Wasp vs. M (supergirl type w/out superspeed)
M is far more powerful but ... this is the Wasp. In my book she has her Spider Man and Batman moments.
the Wasp.
13. Quicksilver vs. Northstar Northstar. Quicksilver had never been shown to be very clever with his powers. and Northstar is a vicious opponent.
14. Tigra vs. Domino
Tigra's wild ferocity almost negates Dominos luck. I still think Domino though.
15. the Sentry vs. Jean Grey the Phoenix! the Phoenix goes one on one with the Sentry ... and then decides to just transmute his molecules to ash ... then the Void comes out and it looks like the tables have turned ... and Phoenix just gets more pissed and eats the planet. including the Sentry/Void.
Phoenix.
16. Sersi vs. Magma
At first Sersi is looking pretty bad but then she remembers she can a) teleport b) has telepathy c) can take the heat long enough to punch Magma across the street. Sersi.
17. Spider Man vs. Banshee
Spider Man. Banshee seems like a villain he would fight. Besides Banshee's not that agile when he flies ... and the skycrapers are Spidey's home.
18. Wonder Man vs. Legion ( TK, telepathy, pyrokinesis)
Legion gives it a good go, decimating several city blocks to take out Wonder Man but Wonder Man is just too strong ... and Legion is not the bravest combatant. It ends with Legion crying as Wonder Man is beating on his protective telekinetic force bubble.
19. Black Knight vs. Nightcrawler Nightcrawler. 'cause Nightcrawler can swordfight too.
20. Firestar vs. Cannonball
Cannonball. I think.
21. Quasar vs. Rachel Grey
Rachel Grey. I've never been a fan of Quasar despite his cool powers. I think Rachel's got a few more tricks up her sleeve.
22. Crystal vs. Madrox the Multiple Man
Crystal ... I think if she can just stay away from him long enough to figure out how to freeze him, burn him, or imprison him with earth without using too much force to make him duplicate ... she'll be fine. But knowing these two they may just end up making out.
WOW. This round was bad for the X-Men ...
Avengers = 14 X-Men = 8

1. Captain America vs. Namor
I think location is key to any Namor fight. If it's in the water, he's obviously a sure thing. And Captain America reminds me a bit of Batman in that there are much more powerful characters out there, but people are usually inclined to give them the win because hey - he's Captain America/Batman, he always wins! I'm gonna say Namor to buck the trend.
2. Giant Man vs. the Beast
Size seems like it would beat agility so Giant Man.
3. Dr. Strange vs. Psylocke
I think the magic master would beat this ethnically troublesome character, so - Dr Strange.
4. Iron Man vs. Polaris
Magnet-masters should always win when there's a lot of metal around so - Polaris.
5. Iron Fist vs. Kitty Pryde
Kitty Pryde seems like she would have to become solid eventually to win and Iron Fist's magic fist should probably be able to take her out when she does (if it can't already affect incorporeal people). Iron Fist.
6. Black Widow vs. Dani Moonstar
I'm not quite sure what Moonstar can do. But I'll say Black Widow because she seems more ruthless.
7. Hawkeye vs. Havok
Hawkeye was lucky to survive the last round but he's met his match in Havok. The X-Man with the cool costume/headgear.
8. Thor vs. Juggernaut Colossus
A tough one. I'll say Juggernaut Colossus because it seems like a pretty unbeatable combination of characters.
9. Ms. Marvel vs. Storm
Storm I think.
10. Vision vs. Sunfire
Sunfire will fry the robot's circuits.
11. Hercules vs. Cable
Gods are more powerful than most mortals. Hercules.
12. the Wasp vs. M (supergirl type w/out superspeed)
Shrinking Violet's been known to defeat Supergirl-types before so I assume Wasp can too. Her.
13. Quicksilver vs. Northstar
Northstar's here. He's queer. Get used to it. And he wins this fight.
14. Tigra vs. Domino
I have no idea what Domino can do... but it's probably more than a cat-woman. Domino.
15. the Sentry vs. Jean Grey the Phoenix!
Superman-type vs. intergalactic force. I'll say Jean Grey because the Phoenix seems too strong for any one character to defeat.
16. Sersi vs. Magma
Is Sersi a psychic type? I'll say she can beat the fire/lava (?) dealer.
17. Spider Man vs. Banshee
Spider Man's never seemed that powerful a character to me. I thought his whole appeal was that he's meant to be this average sort of guy/hero who makes do with what he's got. That's why he works so well as the star in his own stories but not so well in team books when he's out-classed by nearly everyone. Banshee should blow him away here.
18. Wonder Man vs. Legion ( TK, telepathy, pyrokinesis)
Legion's powers seem like they'd give him the edge here.
19. Black Knight vs. Nightcrawler
Black Knight's design makes him one of my favourite Marvel characters that I've never read one page featuring... but I think Nightcrawler might win this one.
20. Firestar vs. Cannonball
Firestar I think.
21. Quasar vs. Rachel Grey
Quasar sounds powerful. Him.
22. Crystal vs. Madrox the Multiple Man
I've always loved that thing in Crystal's hair. I'd love to see it help her win here but I have no idea what else she can do. And a multiple man seems pretty unstoppable (look at how well Duplicate Damsel did in the Legion tournament!) so I'll say Madrox.

I hope you are having as much fun doing this tournament as I am reading your picks! "14. Tigra vs. Domino I have no idea what Domino can do... but it's probably more than a cat-woman. Domino." Domino is lucky btw. and Crystal is an elemental with control over all four elements. but I think her best weapon is the as yet unexplained hair thingy. who knows ... maybe if she uses it there's a risk of a space time cataclysm. Dani Moonstar used to have illusion powers .. and then she got the psylocke treatment and ... had an energy blast bow ... she is currently depowered YET a valkyrie (an asgardian grim reaper type) ... it is unclear wether she has an extra powers due to being a valkyrie (the other valkyries have the asgardian (thor) extra strength, lifespan, etc.) ... besides seeing when people are gonna die. so i am under the impression she's just a bad ass who can see when people are about to die. OH and the ethnically troublesome Psylocke is also more and more ethically troublesome ... and recently lost her ability to feel 'sorrow' ... whatever that means.

yes ... dani monnstar is depowered but still a Valkyrie but only gains her god like Valkyrie powers when Hela the god of death feels like it for special missions.

1. Captain America vs. Namor Captain America, for all his tactical know-how, is utterly unable to stop the Avenging Son, and Namor is relentless. Namor drops a building on him, but shields him from the worst of it, unwilling to kill a man who's been his friend longer than most of these combatants have been alive.
2. Giant Man vs. the Beast The Beast proves an impossible target for the Giant Man, but when the Giant Man can also shrink and control swarms of insects, the match tilts in his favor. While Hank M. is distracted by a swarm of wasps, Hank P. enters his ear and delivers an electrical shock to his brain.
3. Dr. Strange vs. Psylocke The telepathic ninja cheesecake assassin emerges from the shadows, her telepathic blade making contact with the Shields of the Seraphim and skittering off. She is surprised at the mental defenses that come with the innate psychic abilities common to sorcerers in the Marvel Universe, and the Sorcerer Supreme shakes his head in disapproval as he shuts her out of his mind, and wraps her in the Crimson Bands of Cytorrak.
4. Iron Man vs. Polaris Armor hardened against magnetic attack, after multiple humiliating encounters with Magneto, Stark still finds Lorna's magnetic shields and storm of debris a challenge, and as she wears away at his magnetically-reinforced armor, is almost taken down, before he uses his Uni-Beam to generate a powerful strobe of coherent light, which her magnetic fields do nothing to prevent.
5. Iron Fist vs. Kitty Pryde Real martial arts trump 'I was a ninja once, for about a week.' And the spiritual energies of the Iron Fist of K'un Lun can reach even those who think themselves untouchable.
6. Black Widow vs. Dani Moonstar (Assuming that Dani remains depowered, and that this is Natasha, not Selena!) Dani's never-say-die attitude and fierce fighting spirit are no match for 'Tasha's six plus decades of experience and equally ruthless practicality.
7. Hawkeye vs. Havok Clint survives the first targetted blast, and nearly takes Alex out with a sonic screamer arrow, disorienting the mutant as he releases some flash-bangs to close the deal. A hemispherical burst of cosmic force and flame incinerates the arrows before they can reach the reeling Summers, and continues forward in an unavoidable surge of power, hurling the acrobatic archer back into a wall, and ending this encounter.
8. Thor vs. Juggernaut Colossus The powers of gods crack and thunder, golden lightning against crimson force. Thor's fatal mistake is in his confidence, as he closes to hand to hand with the Crimson Colossus, and once Piotr lays hands upon the Odinson, his unimaginable strength proves greater than Thor's immortal frame can stand.
9. Ms. Marvel vs. Storm Storm attempts to evade Ms. Marvel's energy blasts, while clouding her perception with a pea soup fog, and sending bursts of freezing wind and rain from above, so as not to reveal her own position. While tactically sound, and her only chance against a nigh-invulnerable foe who can absorb energy, Ororo fails to account for Carol's flashes of cosmic awareness overcoming her concealing fogs, and is dropped by an energy blast.
10. Vision vs. Sunfire Sunfire's most devasting blasts cannot reach the intangible Vision, and yet Vision cannot effectively hurt him with his own solar-powered energy attacks, being unable to use his phase attack without potentially melting his arm to slag (which he leans the hard way). The synthezoid resorts to ducking under cover, phasing into the ground, and popping up elsewhere, to solidify and hurl debris towards the blazing mutant. Sunfire might have been able to stop the debris with the heat of the sun, but he keeps attempting to time his shots to hit Vision while he's tangible, and finds out that the computer brain of the Vision is better at timing these things than he is, taking a chunk of asphalt to the face.
11. Hercules vs. Cable "Zounds, these mortals, no matter how muscular their frames, are truly more fragile than they appear!"
12. the Wasp vs. M (supergirl type w/out superspeed) Janet is overwhelmed by a telepathic assault, as the invulnerable M ignores her wasp's sting, and uses telepathy to find her when she tries to zip out of sight.
13. Quicksilver vs. Northstar Arrogant silver-haired mutant speedsters collide, and Northstar's advantage of flight is negated by Quicksilver's vastly superior reflexes and mental reactions. It takes far less than the 5,000 pebbles that Pietro flung at hypersonic velocties to drive Jean-Paul from the sky.
14. Tigra vs. Domino Domino's attempt to sniper-shot Tigra is foiled by the feline senses and superhuman reaction times of her quarry, who leads the lucky mutant on a nail-biting chase through several buildings. Tigra has the misfortune of one of her hiding places not being as well-concealed as anticipated, and takes a bullet for her trouble, but closes with a growl and tears the gun out of Domino's hands and soundly thrashes her with it. She licks her wounded arm afterwards, and quips, "Luck isn't everything."
15. the Sentry vs. Jean Grey the Phoenix! The Sentry monologues about having the power of a thousand exploding suns, like the enormous prat that he is. Jean says, "I *eat* exploding suns." and uses her telepathy to shut him off like a light.
16. Sersi vs. Magma Magma is not taking prisoners and overwhelms the Eternal transmuter with a wave of lava brought up from deep within the earth. Sersi looks mildly annoyed (more by the smell, than anything) and turns it into a geyser of Dom Perignon. A few moments later, she's atop the Empire State building, sipping a flute of Dom and holding an annoyed yapping dog with a little gold tag that reads 'Amara.'
17. Spider Man vs. Banshee Peter and Sean look at each other, squinty-eyed as a tumbleweed rolls past. Then Spider-Man webs up Banshee's mouth. It's over terribly fast.
18. Wonder Man vs. Legion ( TK, telepathy, pyrokinesis) Wonder Man doesn't recognize the mutant before him, and tries to go easy on him, slamming a fist into the ground and hurling Legion off-balance. The telepathic assault that follows brings him to his knee, and he pounds the earth again as he staggers, hoping to disrupt the mutant's concentration, only to see that Legion has risen into the air using his telekinesis, and is undistracted by the resulting shockwave. Simon's last image is of a dozen very different versions of Legion mocking him as he slips into unconsciousness.
19. Black Knight vs. Nightcrawler Kurt is almost fatally surprised when the Ebony Blade proves able to cleave open the rapidly-closing rift through the Brimstone Dimension that he uses to transport himself, and the Black Knight follows him on one of his jaunts, appearing right beside him. Only the Black Knight's hesitation, as he is unwilling to bloody the blade and risk activating it's curse, allows Nightcrawler to get the drop on the swordsman, and teleport-drop him into the bay.
20. Firestar vs. Cannonball Sam's blast-field protects him from Angelica's microwave blasts. The Guthrie family being as fertile as they are, she doesn't even succeed in making him sterile. A few 'fly bys' and she is battered into unconsciousness by the much faster mutant.
21. Quasar vs. Rachel Grey Telepathy is the go-to power for taking out people hiding behind force fields, so it's hardly a shock that Rachel Grey reaches for that tool in her belt. What is a shock, for her, is that Wendell has been gifted with cosmic insight by Eon, and the brief exposure to all of eternity she experiences in this unwelcome intrusion into his mind is reminiscent of what the original Phoenix did to Jason Wyngarde. Quasar is somewhat embarassed to later admit that he's not sure how he beat her. "She looked at me and put her fingers to her temples, and then had some sort of seizure. I hope she's okay..."
22. Crystal vs. Madrox the Multiple Man Snap. Snap. Snap. A dozen Madroxes swarm at the Inhuman elemental, and she hurls them back with gusts of wind, and then erects a wall of earth between herself and the mob o' Madrox. He forms a human pyramid and launches one of himself over the barrier, redoubling himself on the other side, while others circle around to try and catch her off guard. She repels the frontal assault with a wall of fire, knowing they won't be able to climb *that,* but falls to a sucker-punch from behind, as one of the sneaky martial-arts trained Madroxes flank her.

Captain America
2. Giant Man vs. the Beast
hmmm... two scientific minds. Tough one. I'll give it to Beast
3. Dr. Strange vs. Psylocke - not sure how powerful Psylocke is, but Doc Strange seems pretty experienced so I'll give it to him
4. Iron Man vs. Polaris - if Magneto could beat Iron Man in the mini, I'll give Polaris the benefit of the doubt and say she could do it too

Sersi is arguably one of the most powerful characters in the MU --- she has all the standard god like attributes, plus telepathy, teleportation, magic, and is probably the best matter transmutator in the MU. and she dosn't have many scrupples. Quasar is like a suped up green lantern ... he has wrist bands that control light and he flies through space. Magma, can't fly, she has a lava form and can make earthquakes and lava shoot out of the ground, create volcanoes, and fire blasts of flame.

I direct you to the Marvel Knights Christopher Priest Black Panther series as proof that the Panther can outsmart ever single other person in the MU. He may not be the greatest intellect, but he's definitely the most clever hero. However, I will say I've been in love with Kitty Pryde for 15 years and she is one of my favorite characters in all comics. So I def have her back when needed. (And her front too ).

1. Captain America vs. Namor - while the 'Cap never loses' attitude is tough to overcome, I have to give this one to Namor. He's Superman with an attitude almost. 2. Giant Man vs. the Beast - Giant-Man can not only outsmart Hank, he can use his powers & pym particles to take care of this. 3. Dr. Strange vs. Psylocke - magic at Strange's level trumps even the strongest telepath. 4. Iron Man vs. Polaris - Tony is my boy but c'mon. If Polaris can't beat Iron Man, she should just fly into the sun. 5. Iron Fist vs. Kitty Pryde - I'll take my girl 6. Black Widow vs. Dani Moonstar - sorry Danny, but the Widow will ruthlessly take you out. 7. Hawkeye vs. Havok - Clint causes Alex to cause insane amounts of damage and suffering to onlookers and then takes him out while he's feeling bad about it. 8. Thor vs. Juggernaut Colossus - when Thor was still a boy, he cut his teeth kicking the crap out of dozens of Juggernaut Colossus types. He wins this one and then gets into ten more fights afterwards to celebrate. 9. Ms. Marvel vs. Storm - possibly the best match of the round. While Carol is strong, focused and tactical, Storm is all those things plus more cunning and more than willing to drop the 'goddess' charade to let the thief of Cairo in to finish off Carol. 10. Vision vs. Sunfire - good one! But Vision finishes off Sunfire after he gets his bearings. 11. Hercules vs. Cable - hate to vote against my boy Herc twice but he honestly should not last long against Cable. 12. the Wasp vs. M (supergirl type w/out superspeed) - a draw in the 'tude department when the chips are down, M just overwhelms the Wasp with her powers. 13. Quicksilver vs. Northstar - not sure I've ever seen Northstar dig deep and overcome insurmountable odds before (references?) but I know Pietro can. Plus, Pietro is as ruthless as Von Doom when he needs to be. 14. Tigra vs. Domino - Domino, and disrespectfully too. 15. the Sentry vs. Jean Grey the Phoenix! - Phoenix takes him out. Few Avengers will be able to beat her...maybe only 2. 16. Sersi vs. Magma - Sersi hands down. 17. Spider Man vs. Banshee - Spider-Man beats guys like Banshee for a living, even though Sean is my dude. 18. Wonder Man vs. Legion ( TK, telepathy, pyrokinesis) - Simon because I find Legion to be the most annoying mutant character of all. Maybe new angry-Simon can hurl him into space after? 19. Black Knight vs. Nightcrawler - two long-time favorites where I like both too much to root against one. But when all is said and done, Nightcrawler probably wins via usage of his powers, though Dane would have challenged him on pure grit alone. 20. Firestar vs. Cannonball - Cannonball through sheer strategy. 21. Quasar vs. Rachel Grey - Rachel 22. Crystal vs. Madrox the Multiple Man - Crystal reminds everyone she's one of Marvel's most powerful. Possible makeout session follows though.

Iron Man vs. Polaris Polaris. and ... <span class="spoiler_containter"><span class="spoiler_wording">Click Here For A Spoiler</span><span class="spoiler_text">Iron Man did beat Magneto in the current series! which was part of the reason I started this tournament! </span></span> 5. Hercules vs. Cable Herc! 12. the Wasp vs. M (supergirl type w/out superspeed) M beats my favorite Avengers leader. was close though. 13. Quicksilver vs. Northstar Northstar. barely. I forgot how evil Quicklsilver could be but seeing Northstar not only beat Sabretooth but humiliate him and quickly ... changed how I thought about Northtstar forever. 14. Tigra vs. Domino Domino. 15. the Sentry vs. Jean Grey the Phoenix! The Phoenix eats the Sentry alive. 16. Sersi vs. Magma Sersi. She might even be yawning right now. Black Knight vs. Nightcrawler Nightcrawler owns Dane. Sorry Dane. 20. Firestar vs. Cannonball Cannonball squeaks past Firestar. 21. Quasar vs. Rachel Grey Quasar slides by Rachel Grey. 22. Crystal vs. Madrox the Multiple Man Crystal has a tough time with Madrox but she wins. The Avengers might pulling away from the X-Men in this round! <span style="font-size: 24px;"> Avengers 12 X-Men 10 </span> One round to the Avengers and one round to the X-Men!

FINAL ROUND WINNER TAKE ALL ... unless it's a tie ... then there will have to be some sort of tie breaker.
the X-Men call two new friends to even the numbers and the power levels out:
Gladiator = Mon El / Superman but with a psychic root of his powers.
Mimic = a power AND skills mimic can copy anyone within a certain range, and has the permanent powers of the agile and strong original hairless beast (no claws), the wings of the angel, the telekinesis of Marvel Girl, optic blast from Cyclops, weaker telepathy from Prof. X, and Ice generation from Ice Man.
drum roll please ......
<span style="font-size: 8px;">let's get ready to ruuuuuuummmmmbbbbllllleeeee</span>
----------------------------------------->
1. Giant Man vs. Cannonball
2. Dr. Strange vs. Legion
3. Iron Fist vs. Nightcrawler
4. Black Widow vs. Domino
5. Thor vs. Gladiator
6. Ms. Marvel vs. Mimic
7. Hercules vs. Namor
8. Vision vs. M
9. Sersi vs. Phoenix
10. Spiderman vs. Northstar
11. Quasar vs. Havok
12. Crystal vs. Polaris

1. Giant Man vs. Cannonball - Sam impresses Hank and proves he has what it takes, but in the end, Pym's brain-power and penchant for bizarre uses of powers give him the upper-hand. 2. Dr. Strange vs. Legion - Dr. Strange kills Legion once and for all! 3. Iron Fist vs. Nightcrawler - this would be a fantastic battle to watch (as drawn by Byrne / Austen)! I'm going with Nightcrawler. 4. Black Widow vs. Domino - Domino's luck runs out as the Black Widow triumphs. 5. Thor vs. Gladiator - Perhaps the best battle of this round, but Thor triumphs. He's beaten Gladiator before, and he's used to fighting guys at this power level, where perhaps Gladiator is used to just pummeling his opponents. 6. Ms. Marvel vs. Mimic - Carol wins by sheer willpower. 7. Hercules vs. Namor - old grudge match! A lot of fun but Namor wins on pure grit and ruthlessness, though not before Herc embarrasses (and infuriates) him a few times. 8. Vision vs. M - ooh, tough one! I think it could actually go either way, so I'll give it to the Vision for experience and M's inability to use her telepathy on him. 9. Sersi vs. Phoenix - if any single Avenger could beat the Phoenix (besides Dr. Strange) it would be Sersi. Unfortunately, I don't think Sersi could quite get it done alone. 10. Spiderman vs. Northstar - sorry Northstar, but Spider-Man would pull this one off like he always does. Given the number of Spider-Man solo stories, you have to assume Spider-Man beats a super-powered foe up twice a day, everyday. 11. Quasar vs. Havok - Havok has the upper-hand in terms of experience & strategy I think. 12. Crystal vs. Polaris - family match! Polaris is the probable favorite but I think the Inhuman Princess pulls this one off by showing she's tougher than she looks and she is a master at using her powers, though does not showboat enough for other superheroes to know much about her fighting style beforehand. Most fun round yet!
