I've decided it's time for a new trivia game. There may only six books in the official series, but considering that there's over 3000 pages of story amongst them, plus two supplemental books, and three movies (at least the fourth will probably be released before this thread totally dies), and we'll even allow personal stuff about J. K. Rowling to be in play.

Anything Harry Potter-related is in play, if anyone hasn't read the latest book, or seen the latest movie, be warned that plot points from things you don't know yet are bound to be revealed.

I'll kick it off with the following question:

What two items did Snape accuse Harry of stealing from his private stores, and who actually had stolen them?

Argh! I know who it is but I can't remember what the items were and I don't have the books for reference. How irritating...

Don't have the books either, but I can do I believe:

- Gullyweed for the Tri-Wizard Tourny in #4, which was actually stolen by Dobby.

- Ingredients for the potion to turn Harry and Ron into Crabbe and Goyle in #2, which was actually stolen by Hermoine.

Close enough, Cobie...the thing stolen by Dobby was actually called Gillyweed.

As for the potion ingredient, it was boomslang skin. However, while Hermione did steal it in book 2, the accusation Snape made in book 4 was more likely based on theft of the stuff by Barty Crouch Jr., who had to continually make Polyjuice Potion so he could stay disguised as Mad-Eye Moody.

Name at least five animaguses (animagi?) that appear in the HP books and what animal they can turn into.

James Potter could turn into a stag(?), Lupin was a werewolf (does that count?) and Sirius Black is of course a big cuddly wuddly dog.

Ooooh. Well, Hermione, Nearly Headless Nick, Colin and the caretaker's cat all got petrified, but I think it was the cat (Mrs something?) who was actually first. Either that or Cobie is right.

OK, simple one since I don't have the books to hand. In Philosopher's Stone which Hogwarts students are in the wood when they first encounter centaurs?

Ohmygod, Harry, Ron, Neville, and that stupid little creepy snot from Slytheryn, Jerk Face Malloy (Well that's my name for him anyway...)

I believe that Ron accompanied them in the movie version, but in the book I think he was in the hospital wing (although I can't recall why).

Anyhoo, in the book I believe it was Harry, Hermione, Neville and Draco who accompanied Hagrid into the forest.

OK, I'm suddenly not sure of the answer. See it was a trick question in that in the film Neville isn't there but in the book he is. Only now I'm not sure whether it was actually Hermione or Ron that was there. I think Spellbinder is right because I think Ron had miscast a curse (posibly the slug ne) but I have sudden doubts. If no-one else can confirm which is right before I get home tonight I'll check the book, but wither way one of you guys is right and I've magaed to confuse myself as to what the answer is. D'oh.

The miscast slug curse by Ron was in Chamber of Secrets (all versions).

In the book, it's Haary, Hermione, Neville and Malfoy. If it's different in the movie, someone else will have to say, I don't have time to watch it right now.
