Has anyone heard any news about the grand finale? Any former Idols showing up, performing? What will the #12-3 from this season sing? (Okay, what will *Nadia* sing? What will Constantine sing? What will Vonzell sing?)

Well, what did everyone think? I believe that Carrie brought her A-game but she started out every song pitchy. And Bo's choices weren't what I expected. He really didn't play to his strong points.

This is going to be anyone's game and I think Ryan is right. Every vote is going to count this time.

I'm rooting for Bo. Both of 'em are winners, of course.

Well it's about time Carrie did a Mary Chapin Carpenter song. I'd love to hear her do some classic country or even some blue grass (I'd *love* to hear her do a version of 'The Grass Is Blue', although trying to outsing Dolly on that would be hard) but Independence Day is a good choice. I can think of others that I'd like to hear her do as well, but ID is a good one.

I shall now be avoiding this thread until Friday night though because I don't want to know who wins before I actually watch the final. My gut instincts tell me that it's going to be Bo but with two such different performers it could go either way. I wouldn't be surprised if it's an even closer vote than in previous years.

They both seemed WAY nervous. I expected that from Carrie, but not so much from Bo, who up until now seemed to be giving off a "devil may care" persona, all of his performances seemed a tad stilted, like he couldn't let go and be himself.

They were both a little "off" last night, I felt. After watching it a second time, I give Carrie a slight edge. All in all, I think Bo's gonna win.

I think I'll watch the LOST finale tonight in 'real time' and tape AI--I don't think I can stand to watch them stretch it out for 2 hours!

I've decided to watch Lost on Saturday (ABC has been repeating Lost and Desperate Housewives on Saturday nights again and will show both season enders this Saturday) and watch the AI final tonight. TiVo doesn't make it easy to watch live TV and record something else unless you have a VCR, which we don't.

Besides I just know that Bo is finally going to sing Sweet Home, Alabama with Lynard Skynard tonight and I have just got to see that.

I'm going to take this as a good sign for Bo. I got into the car tonight to come home and turned on the radio just as "Sweet Home Alabama" was starting. First time it had played all day. Go Bo!

Well, guess that's another winner's album I won't be buying. But I sure as hell will buy the runner up's album. And I think the runner up will be the one with a longer career.

Yeah, gotta admit to *slight* disappointment tonight, but her "Inside Your Heaven" single is gonna be colossal-huge.

On the upside, this entire finale show was outstanding!! I was VERY PLEASED with the attention given to all 10 of the runners-up, they all deserved it. I think Babyface might be "feelin'" Lindsey! Homey was checkin' her OUT! laugh Mikalah was funny as heck and Nadia rocked out! YEAH baby!

Also, I felt the absences of Kelly, Reuben and Fantasia were VERY conspicuous. Where were they?!?

Bo ROCKED "Sweet Home, Alabama"! If he doesn't record that on his first album it will be a big mistake. Can't wait for AIbyRequest to have the MP3s ready.

Awsome ending to this years season. I agree with Lash..having all involved was a nice wrap.
Carrie and Rascal Flats..ROCKED

I had a feeling Carrie was going to win...but heck they both are going to have a deal.

Looking for Earth Prime.

The more I think about this the more I think it was a wise decision to not include the previous winners. They would have taken away airtime from the others. Although I'll admit there was a lot of the show we could have done without (except that take on the Primetime special with Simon replacing Paula, that was classic).

I don't know about Reuben and Fantasia, but Kelly and Clay have both broken from American Idol -ie 19 Entertianment do not own them anymore. Both have gotten out of their AI contracts and signed wiht THE FIRM. Neither of them will say anything bad about AI but neither will talk about AI either anymore.

I happy. Both finalist rocked the whole night!

I'm totally unhappy with this result!!!!BOOO!

I wanted Bo to WIN! I wanted Carrie to be in second place and go off into the country music world.

I will admit that Carrie did a great job on Tuesday night, although I prefer Bo's version of "Inside Your Heaven." I think Carrie's big hit will be with "Angels Brought Me Here."

As for the show, I thought it was WAY too long and WAY too much filler, especially to get the result I didn't want. It only got good once the finalists started performing with the pros. Vonzell was especially good.

I know that Bo will do well, but I think the whole American Idol legacy would have been better off with him as this season's winner.

It's weird to not be a fan of the winner. I have been every season before.

bugger. vagued out during the spoiler and read on, the finals not shown here till tomorrow night. oh well.

fascinating to read that Carries big song was 'Angels Bought Me Here'. When Aus Idol first debuted this was the song chosen for the first single and that both contestants had to sing in the final. It's kinda a running joke about how prefab the Idol thing is, in this country, and i saw a comedy "Hells Angels Brought Me Here" in this years festival.

Guess that the ol Idol umberella has decided to recycle it in a different market. The writer should make a crapload from it, but it's so by the numbers.

Interesting about "Angels." Not surprising though. Now that you mention it, Kid Psychout, I do believe the Australian Idol sang that song on American Idol season 2 or 3. Now I gotta go find the mp3! He was the light skinned guy with the black afro, right?

I just heard Kelly Clarkson talking about the final two. It was on some random cable news channel, during an entertainment segment. She was asked what she thought Carrie and Bo are thinking right now, and she replied that they're probably just anxious to get this all over with so they can begin their careers. Everyone who's on AI basically gets a great jumpstart, it's up to each individual to make a career out of it. She didn't sound jaded or negative about AI. In fact, as usual, she sounded very down-to-earth. She said that all she requests while on tour is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and water! Hah! No diva demands.

Yep! It was Guy Sebastian. He performed "Angels Brought Me Here" during season 3, when the #3 singer was eliminated (that was Jasmine).
The song sounded almost totally different by Guy. He sings a lot more soulfully, with a higher pitch. It doesn't really compare with Carrie's version. Also, I don't know if it will be released as a single for Carrie. I should/could be a great hit, though!

Stupid stupid Teletext. There was me being good and avoiding the results and we had Teletext on earlier and in great big letters it said 'Country Singer Wins American Idol'. Humph. Well that spoilt the surprise. mad

NUTS to that... surely there's a way they could show it the next day instead of several days later. Less chance of seeing spoilers that way.

Anyhoo, don't miss the show, Bev! It was a hoot. They did a little spoof on the special that claimed Paula was having an affair with Corey Clark that was quite good, and the Idols singing with famous musicians & singers is NOT to be missed! Non-Bo/Carrie fans are sure to be pleased with the attention given to the other 10.

Plus, I thought it was quite cool that they brought out that girl who butchered the National Anthem in the auditions, dressed her up and had her do it again-- after having some obvious coaching. And the nerdy fan who got to meet David Hasselhoff-- so cool!

Okay, as usual, I'm listening to the mp3's from the show, and I'm TOTALLY loving the songs from the finale.... Bo's "Long, Long Road" and "Inside Your Heaven" are both totally cool songs. Really good. I quite like Carrie's version of "Inside Your Heaven" AND "Angels Brought Me Here" and I'm digging Guy Sebastian's version of it. I'm hoping one of the people from the group will do one of those "side-by-side" mp3's of both of Carrie's songs, like they did with Diana and Fantasia on "I Believe."

had to tape the finale, but finally saw it and it was great televison. Idol and Amazing Race are the only reality tv i have any time for.

Sketch: Yeh, Guy's version of the song is the better (i am not a fan, however), but i think they had an inkling he was going to win when it was written so they new his vocal style. Carrie's version of the song was very, well, 'shouty'. she didn't seem comfortable singing it.

But her duet with the band who did "God bless the broken road' was amazing. their voices really worked together.

This year was interesting as it was so obvious when there were four finalists how good Vonzel, Bo and Carrie were compared to the others. I can see why Lash thought they needed Bo to win as he is the first pure rock stylist, but this years final three all deserve careers.

As for the others... Mikhala's turn as red carpet presenter was great fun and she so suits that kind of job, but she needs a lot more control of her voice before she becomes a singer full time.

Nadine was born to perform. The only person even near her in terms of pure comfort on stage was Bo. Her voice is limited compared to any of the other girls, but man she has style.

and lastly, if i ever hear Constantine again it most likely means somebody has been stupid enough to decide to 'reimagine' the Partridge Family for cable. Sorry, Lash, but sometimes cheese just means your milk has gone off.

Just saw Bo on the Daily Show with John Stewart. He seemed to be trying a little *too* hard to be funny. Maybe he's always like that, though? I heard that he was on Regis and Kelly this morning, too. Bummer I missed it.
