I haven't had it slow down my computer although the program itself is graphic intensive and does lag or rubberband on occasion. You might want to check out the system requirements to make sure your laptop is up to speed (no joke intended ~ well okay, a small one laugh )

From memory, I believe you must have at least 256K ram though 512 is recommended, about 10 MBs of storage available, at least 56k modem (faster is much better but I use dial up and it works just fine); and a higher end graphics card (you'll want to check the specs on that I don't recall the details. I would guess a 2 month old laptop should have a fairly new card so if it's a NIVIDIA GeoForce or ATI Radeon it's a good bet that they meet the specs.)

So has anyone visited the newly opened City of Villains website yet and looked around at the screenshots? Some stuff there that they, fairly, ought to give to heroes too.

We sure do! Legion nights have been pretty light the last several weeks.

On the plus side, we got a new member last night. Star Cub sent me a message because a friend of his had spotted our Legion SG. Don't know much about him yet, so hopefully he'll show up here soon.

What a night!

We had a full team of 8 last night, and it was a blast -- literally: We got wiped out (some of us twice) almost as soon as we stepped inside a Council mission. smile So we started hunting instead and had a good time. I even pulled Saturn Lady out of mothballs since most of the people playing were lower level than Shadow Lad. Long Live the Legionnaires of Virtue!!

And I haven't received my Mark Waid issue yet. I was good and didn't buy it at the store a few weeks ago since I'd be getting a copy free.

Here is an advanced warning for everyone. You know I haven't been playing but Caroline has been using my account since her's expired so my time was wasted. Well TPTB at NCSoft are cracking down on characters that she hasn't touched and I haven't played in over six months. They are not only busting names but costumes and battle cries as well. Here is the text of my warning:

Quote
Hello,

The character(s) listed below were recently reported to have a name and costume that violates the USER AGREEMENT (EULA) Section 4e and Rules of Conduct (RoC) #16 and is not allowed to be used. In an effort to limit the interruption of your game play as much as possible, a temporary name was assigned to the character(s) listed below and the costume(s) has been reset to basic tights. For each costume that has been reset your character has been granted a free costume change at any Icon tailor shop. We are sending you this notice to provide you an opportunity to correct this. Please make sure that your new costume is unique and does not in any way resemble a copyrighted character.

We also have noticed that the character(s) reported also contained a profile and/or battle cry which violates the USER AGREEMENT (EULA) Section 4f. The support team has removed the inappropriate profile. To update the game to reflect the change, please log in with the character and delete the profile and select OK. Once you clear the profile and select OK, you will be able to go back and edit the profile again. Once you have replaced the profile, it will be necessary to zone or log the character out and back in for the profile change to take effect.

We are reviewing the account for other characters that may need to be changed due to intellectual property violations. The City of Heroes support team will contact you if any other characters will need to be changed.

If you have any other characters with costumes that in any way resemble a protected intellectual property, they are also in violation of the EULA and will have to be changed. Please reply to this email with a list of any characters on your account that will need to be changed. Make sure you specify which costume slots on each character need to be changed. We will reset each costume to plain tights and at the same time grant the character a free costume change at the Icon tailor shop for each reset costume slot. This will allow your character to change to a new costume of your own design that is not in violation of the copyright without costing any influence. The support team will not modify any Titles the character may have as a result of this incident.

If you wish to change the temporary name for these characters, you can reply to this message and include 3 new character names, in order of preference, for each character that you wish to keep. Please be sure to specify which names should be used for which character. If all three character names are already in use, the first name may be used with numbers or other characters appended to the name to make it unique. If the three new character names you supply are inappropriate you may forfeit the opportunity to change the name of the character. If you are in doubt as to whether a name is appropriate, it is best to choose a different name. Once we receive the new name choices from you we will change the name.

Failure to complete this request may result in account suspensions or termination if your account is discovered violating copyright policies in the future.

Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this matter. Please ensure that you are familiar with both the EULA and RoC, which you may find at the URLs given below.
Just to note. Don't rely on them allowing you a character name change. The only other character I had bust was one named after the rock group Porno for Pyros. Someone found it objectionable and reported him. I gave three names to have changed and they agreed to one of the names. To this day (8 months later) they still have not changed him from his Generic Hero###.

I'll not only be deleting the characters listed here but will definitely not be renewing my account.

Another note this character:

Original Character Name / Server: Chemical King on Champion
Intellectual Property: DC Comics
Motto: "Long Live the Legion!"
Costume Slots Changed: 0, 1
Two free tailor sessions granted

Is not one of mine. Caroline has a Chemical King. (note the period) on Champion who hasn't been used. He is a level one. The character busted is obviously at least 20th level (note the two tailor sessions and two costume slots). So they are busting me for someone else. Real nice of them isn't it?

Same goes for Snake:

Original Character Name / Server: Snake Plissken on Infinity
Intellectual Property: Escape From New York
Costume Slots Changed: 0
One free tailor session granted

My Snake is Snake Plissken? (note question mark). I find this truly troubling that they are not paying attention to accounts when sending out these warnings. This is wrong.

Oh, and I noticed my characters totally stolen from their own properties haven't been touched. So we can 'rip off' their intellectual properties?

And to add more to this. I informed them they were giving me account information that was not my own and how troubling that was. Their reply? I had not answered them from an e-mail account on record with them and that I would have to add it to my account before they would reply.

Hello! I replied from the e-mail account they sent it to, the only one I have on file with them. So they obviously don't want to deal with the fact they screwed up.

If any of you have credit card information on your accounts I would suggest removing it.

I wonder if the extended maintenence the CoH boards are going through are at all related.

Anyway, here's Prism's current build as I told Seymour I'd post.

1: Spectral Wounds (ACC)
1: Radiant Aura (Heal)
2: Blind (ACC)
3: ENH: Spectral Wounds (ACC)/Ratiant Aura (Heal)
4: Deceive (ACC)
5: ENH: Spectral Wounds (DMG)/(DMG)
6: Hasten (Recharge)
7: ENH: Spectral Wounds (DMG)/(DMG)
8: Accelerate Metabolism
9: ENH: Hasten(Recharge/Recharge)
10: Hover (Defense Buff)
11: ENH: (Recharge/Recharge)
12: Group Invisibility (Recharge)
13: ENH: Group Invisiblity (Defense Buff)/Accelerate Metabolism (Recharge)
14: Fly (End Reduction)
15: ENH: Fly (Fly)/Acclerate Metabolim (Recharge)
16: Recall Friend
17: ENH: Fly (Fly)/Accelerate Metabolism (Recharge)
18: Phantom Army (ACC)
19: ENH: Phanyom Army (DMG/DMG)
20: Swift (Run)
21: ENH: Phantom Armg (DMG/Recharge)
22: Health (Heal)
23: ENH: Phantom Army (Recharge)/Accelerate Metabolism (END Recovery)
24: Stamina (END Recovery)
25: ENH: Stamina (END Recovery/END Recovery)
26: Mutate (Recharge)
27: ENH: Stamina (END Recovery/END Recovery)
28: Radiation Infection (Defense Debuff)
29: ENH: Stamina (END Recovery/Radiation Infection(ToHit Debuff)
30: Enervating Field (END Reduction)
31: ENH: Radiant Aura (Heal/Heal)/Fly (Fly)
32: Phantasm (ACC)
33: ENH: Phantasm (DMG/DMG/Recharge)
34: ENH: Phantasm (Recharge/Recharge)/Radiant Aura (Heal)
35 Lingering Radiation (Slow)
36: ENH: Accelerate Metabolism (END Recovery)/Radiation Infection (Defense Debuff/ToHit Debuff)
37: ENH: Radiation Infection (Defense Debuff/ToHit Debuff)/Lingering Radiation (Slow)
38: EM Pulse
39: ENH: Enervating Field (END Reduction)/Lingering Radiation (END Reduction)/Group Invisibiliy (Defense BUff)
40: ENH: Group Invisibility (Defense Buff)
41: Power Bolt
42: ENH: Group Invisibility (Defense Buff/Defense Buff)/Power Bolt (DMG)

Overall, the important thing is being able to get PA up once a battle. Once PA wears off, it would usually recharge in the time it would take me to finish off a mob using Spectral Wounds and Blind. I have Hasten only 5-slotted. With AM active, it can be perma with only 5.

As I got closer to 32, I started focusing on the secondaries that can help pets... with empathy I'm wondering how much you can slot some of its buffs like fortitude. Also, if you can find room for it and can afford the endurance, you might want to pick up Leadership.

Whoo-hoo! Prism Lord saved Paragon City from the Praetorean invasion last night! Took down Anti-Matter, Neuron, Bobcat and Shadowhunter down solo! Anti-Matter did kill me twice, his blasts hit hard, but I got him twice as well.

Hoo-yeah! Countess Crey is next, I think. Then the Madame of Mystery. then Nemesis.

Thanks for posting the build, Lyle. It looks fairly close to Princess's, at least on the Illusion side, though I do need to ehnahce PA some more.

Congrats on all the whomping!

Okay, my five free days on CoH are over, and I gotta give a big Thanks to Vee! You helped get Doc Nimbus from 19th level up to 24th in one weekend! I enjoyed playing with almost everyone again, and I'm looking forward to gaming with you again. It was awesome seeing Prism in action! He's a whole City of Heroes on his own! laugh

Interesting thread I just ran across on the CoH Forums about I5. Sounds like we'll be getting some new powersets....

Sonics & Archery for Defenders (don't know why them)

possibly Archery for Blasters

and potentially Shields for tanks.

CoH I5 thread

I really don't see how that is going to feasibly work. Sure it would be nice but I already know the other servers had people copy my name of Gungnir so that means my original would be tagged with a stupid 1 or something else at the end of the name, just like on the test server. And how that would mess up superteams and chat I don't even want to think about. That gives me database nightmares.

A recent chat session with Statesman (IIRC) said that character transfer is on the wish list but it's definitely not in I5. I hear it has been done in other MMOs... one version gave you a warning if your character was going to face a renaming due to duplication, allowing you to cancel it.

I'd point you to the thread but I deactivated my account today (not quitting but based on a series of disappointments with the CoH team I don't want to be set to auto-bill for three months at a time... I have to August 20 to buy a game card) and now the site tells me I'm banned from the boards.

Nice customer service there, especially for someone who says that his reason for deactivating is that he's tired of wondering if statements from Cryptic/NC Soft are malinformed or disingenuous.

There will be a new zone in the game, Croatoa. You can see it on the transit maps -- it will be serviced by the green line and is on the far northwest part of the map. It will be a "magical" zone and will introduce a new villain group, the Coven, who will probably be based on the Halloween witches. Rumor has it that Croatoa will be a suburban zone.

Croatoa is under a bit of controversey since it was just announced that it will be for levels 25-35. Considering that 30-39 is the part of the game where content is lacking, most especially at 35-39, board posters are shaking their heads.

BTW, for the new powersets, watch for The Oaken Quiver on Virtue and The Nocturnal Aria on Triumph. I've got designs made and slots reserved on those servers.

mad It's Legion Night Thursday, and they just pulled all the servers down for a third maintenance today!! Something else else is definitely screwed up with CoH in a big way. This is crazy and so frustrating. I was in teh middle of a long mission (90 minutes time limit for a lvl 44 Malta mission) and the servers went down. I LOST the 5 bubbles I had earned. I was so mad. Now this!! mad
