I doubt that TPTB are familiar with the Legion so probably not much to worry about particularly if the name is not exact. For example Cosmic Rokk is okay but Cosmic Boy wouldn't be. Mystical Mysa should be okay but White Witch might be a problem if she looked like the White Witch.

In most cases our heroes have variations of the names. Others however may be a problem. For example, of all my chars on Virtue the only one that I think could be an issue is "Rond Vidar". The others (Condo, Mystical Mysa, Cosmic Rokk, Fun Loving Quiz, Kid Karate Val, & I-Kid Lyle) I'd bet would pass muster.

On Protector, the only one of mine I see as a poential problem from among my chars (Varalent, Pol, Stone Kid, Marvel Lad Lar, FireLad, Night Lass, Doc Gym'll) is FireLad and possibly Doc Gym'll)

Of course on Infinity I do have Color Kid & Beauty Blaze (along with Cos & E Lad Jan) but both are pretty obscure characters and not likely to draw attention.

I think the biggest problem might be with the JSA based heroes we've got. For example, my DrFate would likely get the axe. Same is true of Scott's Mister Terrific etc.

Guess we'll see. In most cases I think they're likely to tell you it's a problem and ask you to give them an alternate name (like they did for Scott & Thomas' Li'l Clark & Li'l Bruce) so think about what you would like as an option for any of them.

"Hey Jim! Get Mon out of the Zone!! And...when do we get Condo back?"

The police droid that chased us down was really cool about everything. He actually first stated that I had to change my costume (I think lil' Bruce's pic is posted in this thread somewhere) but said that if we just changed our names it would be okay. Not too bad an experience when I knew I was technically breaking copyright.

I also think we don't have so much to worry about with Legion characters unless using their hero names. Real names are too vague, I think, and mostly they seem to be worried about the major characters. Ran into a DickTracy the other day and it made me wonder if they'd go after him too.

"Mystical Mysa should be okay but White Witch might be a problem if she looked like the White Witch."

Unfortunately, that's impossible since Numia's outfit is unique to the character. frown

I do wish sometimes that the copyright enforcements would extend to what I consider the "stupid" copyright dodge names... like all the Wolfverines or Soopermans out there. Those bug me, I mean can't they come up with something a little cleverer like Logan Bub?

Beauty Blaze should be okay, I think they're watching for people who have both name and costume similarity.

UltraStar, have you installed WindowsXP Service Pack 2? I hear the firewall that SP2 added has caused some CoH problems.

"Now if only they'd increase the accuracy of my heal."

Yeah, at the least they should re-do the animation so you don't have to wait so long.

Okay, I tried doing a little research and Oh. Mah. Goodness...

We gotta get to lvl 40, team.

I spent the time last night to update my laptop to the SP2 and did a quick test around Midnight to see if I could get into CoH. No problems to report. Logged in, ran around, arrested a few thugs, visited a different city then back then logged out. All fine.

Oh, and I did leave the firewall on to see if that was a problem as I didn't have it own previously.

As for naming the mythos SG, I was thinking that this team is reminding me of the mistfit sort of teams, like the Defenders or the Outsiders. (BTW, what kind of team was the Champions, never really understood them despite what I thought was a cool lineup.)

Anyway, I had a couple ideas for names...

The Baumtown Peculiars (or a similar play on the Bank (?) St Irregulars)

The Unexpected Phalanx/Patrol/Squad (as a play on the Freedom Phalanx, Dawn Patrol or Midnight Squad)

Unexpected Heroes

Paragon Pariahs

The Force of the Fallen

Hmmmm, hope Porcupine Pete makes the cut! 'Course we haven't seen Pete in a comic book for about 12 years now so I should be ok.

Hello, everyone.

Vee and I just got done playing our
Paragon Characters and I wanted to
pass something along that I just found
out.

Those of you who have fire as a secondary
power on your blasters should keep an eye out
for when consume becomes available. That's a
primary power on fire tankers, and it lets you
consume end from the bad guys ... thereby
increasing your own.

I checked the guide, and that's a power that
the fire secondary set has ...

It's 7th on the blasters secondary so it's not
something that's probably come up just yet for
most of you, but I wanted to make sure taht you
all knew about it...

*Sighs*

I keep thinking about how much easier Blue
might have had it lately if I had that
power for him now ... *wry face*

... okay.

I feel a little better.

If I read the guide at warcry right, then
I couldn't take that power until level 28
anyway, and Blue's not there yet, so I've
not mised out yet...

though that should be a nice supplement to
stamina ... 8-)

Heheh...
man, I gotta say I'm diggin this Borg idea I came up with for CoH.

So far we got T'Pol of Borg, Locutis of Borg, Seven of 9, Hulk of Borg, Logan of Borg, Buffy of Borg, Kramer of Borg, Borg X, Will Robinson, and one that may pi$$ off the massive Simian SG on Infinity Simian of Borg!

Another player said he'd whip up Jonny Depp of Borg tonight so hopefully I'll still be on by then. Otherwise I'll have to catch him tomorrow.

PapaSmurfofBorg...I put you on friends list so let me know when I can join him up! That would be just Smurfy!

I made LT UHURU-Borg. Hope she didn't have to have those lines and stuff on her costume. I put her in a red outfit, but she looks slightly hotter then she did on the show wink

This is Caroline by the way. Not sure if I or any of you are used to the changes in names and icons yet. Especially you Blue, as you were just getting used to our regular Legion names! smile

Hi, guys.

I'm going to be out of town this week as
I already mentioned, so neither Andrew,
Star, or any of my other alts will be able
to come out and play ... 8-(

I've just been doing laundry this morning
and dragging my feet about taking my trip
to the folks this weekend because I'm kind
of depressed about something, but this made
me smile so I thought I'd share with you
guys.

I decided that I wanted to experiment a bit
with making an illusion/kinetics controller,
so I made one on Protector. I got distracted
by stuff when I got to the bio screen and I
lost the server. When I came back, it looked
like the guy was totally gone, but when I
went into the character screen to remake him,
he was there ...

But with this color scheme...

I got such a chuckle out of it I decided to keep
it. 8-)

Have a good weekend, folks. I may check back on
the board here while I'm away..

I tried entering that name on friends list too but it said it didn't exist.
I'll try it again...maybe I left out the hyphen or something.

<EDIT>
OK, I just tried it ahain with exact spelling and it still says LT UHURU-Borg does not exist.
You sure it was on Infinity?

Nice...

I put both Uhura and Paris on friends list so if you see T'Pol of Borg around I'll join you up.

My SG is the Borg Collective by the way...the other numerical charactered Borg SG is just called The Borg.
Mine takes more imagination.

I just spent some time reading the COH forums,
and I'm seeing why so many people are taking
the super speed power set: not so much for the
travel power, but rather to get hasten because
that is in effect a permanent recharge reduction.

Truthfully, I'm starting to feel like the game
is rigged. If you want your character to ever
get past the twenties, there are certain powers
you HAVE to take, whether or not they fit into
your character's design or not.

For instance, the only character that I can
think of that might not need stamina is the
scrapper ... and regen is an option they have
built in.

Everyone else has to get stamina or pretty much
run into what I do as Blue Battler: Be kicking
butt on a royal scale and then wind up running
up out of juice at the worst possible moment.

So there's one pool power set that's pretty
much mandatory if you want to be able to get
anywhere in the game.

Now it turns out that hasten when six slotted
and added to stamina can apparently turn you
into a rapid-rechrage powerhouse who can do
more damage than anyone who doesn't take the
power.

To me, that doesn't really seem fair. That's a
power that should be listed in every pool power
set or the recharge rate should be reduced on
all the powers ...

Six slotted hasten? Hadn't thought of that. I actually just picked that up for Dirk. He's now at 12th level (half-way to 13) after only 4 playing sessions.

Adding hasten to his power pool took him from running the steets of KR to kicking nass in Steel. It just the recharge on it that's the killer.

I had someone last night ask me for help while I was playing. He couldn't find anyone to hold some enhancements for him while he switched characters. I helped him out (he was level 42) and in return he bought Dirk 8 lvl 15 DO Gauntlets for damage. Now all of my damages are fully slotted with DO.

I'm really loving to play Dirk right now. laugh

Okay, I love my chars to have the power to rule the streets of Paragon City. But, I'm really mroe about the social aspect. In real life I don't call my friends hell I don't have anything to offer them. I don't work, and I play nurse, cook and slave 24/7 (except for when I'm on the 'puter anyway) I can't meet friends to go out to lunch (I don't even have my own car) and I can't leve the house for girls nights out when my folks need me all the time. And I've learned to make peace with losing touch with everyone. My point I guess is, I get as big a kick out of the social itneraction with people in CoH as I do from killing stuff. I've met interesting and nice (and some jerks too) people from all over the world. I've met parents and their kids playing the game together, and a lot of uncles playing with their nephews, and retired people, and a ton of lonely college students away from home for the first time. Heck, I wish I could get my 13-yr-old nephew to play CoH with me and Scott. Matt lives just across town and we haven't seen the kid since Christmas. A few nights ago I ran around Paragon City with an uncle who was a long-haul trucker who was on from a lap-top at a wireless connection truck stop in Cali and he was teamed with his nephew in Florida. We talked about the hurricane past and the hurricane present. I guess I'm just a talker. I'm getting more and more like my mother every day. I walk up to strangers in the grocery store (my only outside activity) and start conversations...... So, please don't hate CoH players who are not power-mad and level hungry!! smile

That's cool, Satur..., er Raven. I also enjoy the social aspect of this game. If I just wanted to play a super hero game, I could save myself the monthly bill and go buy Freedom Force. But the teaming with people is what makes it fun and interesting. I started a character, a tall-blonde nurse :-), who is focusing primarily on healing. Needless to say, it doesn't take long before I am invited to a team. I found it's a good way to meet people. Course, I still don't know what to say when guys start hitting on me. Looking back I wish I made a man, or at least a not-so-sexy woman.

The story about the truck driver and his kid is pretty cool. It's a unique way to spend time with your child even if you can't be there.
