Yeah, I thought he/she had a hall pass until at least that meeting occurred. Going against that expectation and the other death preventing some resolution to the tension between that character and another one really make this season feel really unpredictable!

Plus we do not know the fate of another one of the crew.

I like how they are not drawing out things as they did in previous seasons.

They do seem to be glossing over the fact that Merle is a racist prick somewhat and losing that possible conflict you mention is an odd choice. I get that Andrea's treading carefully around him but she does seem a little too trusting, but I hope this angle isn't dropped.

Merle has been toned down because there now is someone around that he actually fears... The Governor.

Let's not forget that Merle was a meth-head the last time we saw him. Presumably, he's clean, now.

There are still touches of the Merle we know and love to hate...but time may have calmed him a little (I hope not too much), and getting clean cannot hurt.

A slightly calmed down Merle makes it all the more dramatic when he goes batshit evil.

Like...when he sees Rick. That should be a very interesting confrontation given what Rick and the group has just been through.

Watched the mist last night on Netflix . 2007 frank darabont show that was very much a proto-walking dead including having three of the main cast in very simar roles. A lot of the same strengths and weaknesses darabont was noted for on the show were all here. I don't know if I'd recommend it other than as curious per-cursor to TWD.

Kind of a ramp down episode and a set up episode for things to come.

We dud get two big things... Click Here For A Spoilerthe phone for Rick and the Governors daughter.

Overall a slower episode, but enjoyable. Also starting to see how the prison and Woodbury are going to collide.

A few other things...

The Woodbury scene at the end was done really well I thought.

Michonne got to say more in this episode than she has in the last 4...which is good, and it seems that she will run into the others soon enough.

Oh, and how about the appetite of that walker/sitter in the boiler room...he didn't waste an ounce. In fact, he was so full he couldn't move.

Yeah, I didn't get at all what they were implying with that walker until I saw the Talking Dead show later. Eeeeeewwwwwww! I mean, DAMN, even the bones?!?!? eek

That was so gross.

Surprised to see the phone thing so early.

Carl trying to name the baby was a heartbreaker.

Yeah, the name the baby scene was fantastic and heartbreaking as Carl attempts to firmly be an adult while revealing how much of a little kid he still is with his limited life experience.

Subtle things like Daryl's leadership, Maggie's badassness / bravery, and Glenn & Herschel's caring 'family' moment were all great. I'm in love with Maggie.

I saw a theory that maybe Click Here For A SpoilerLori is still alive, rescued by Carol who used her limited knowledge to stitch her up.. It seems unlikely given what was said in interviews but I'd really like it I think, especially as it'd show the one doing the saving in a really good light.

Michonne leaving was a surpirse given the comic history, though we never see where she ended up. Maybe Merle picked her up ten minutes later and she's held captive, or maybe she'll make it to the prison. Although this is more of a tension brought up by knowledge of the books specifically rather than in-show so probably over-thinking it.

I don't remember a phone call, maybe its past where I read.

The phonecall subplot was one of my lesser favorites of the comic, so of course they couldn't wait to throw that in. Meanwhile, Tyreese is nowhere to be seen on the TV show. *BLANK STARE*

But as I have told myself several times, it is best to enjoy the TV show and comic as 2 separate entities... and the TV show is firmly in the running for BEST THING EVER this season.

How strange are those happy community scenes in Woodbury in relation to, like... EVERY OTHER SCENE in the show?

And that Penny... such an adorable tyke!

Yeah, Woodbury's whole creepy appeal has a lot to do with that "there's no way this community's this nice," thing--not to mention that it's run by a secret sadist that runs zombie gladiator matches.

Can't you just see Merle hosting a television show like "Redneck Remedies Post-Collapse" on the History Channel?

I'm liking Merle...and no, I don't think he's changed all that much. He's still an ass...just hedging his bets to find his brother.

Carl has quickly been moving up the ranks of faves this season.

I hope that Carol is found somewhere somehow...or did they address that on The Talking Dead? Have not watched it yet.

They were kinda cagey about this on Talking Dead. The quick preview mentioning "Carol's knife" makes me think she's still around. No idea why she wouldn't have turned up yet if she's alive. I just hope it doesn't get drawn out like the search for her daughter did last season. Ugh.

However, what is whomever was watching Carol at the end of episode 1 or 2 wasn't Andrew? What if there's another creepy sadistic prisoner around (like in the comics, except separate from the other inmates) who took the opportunity of Carol's separation to make his move?

Hate to disappoint ya, Des, but producer Greg Nicotero said outright on last night's Talking Dead that that bloated zombie that Rick went crazy on had just consumed Lori's remains before Rick arrived. eek

At least, Hershel had a good outcome with his problem and went the Dale route, rather than the Allen route.

I hope that comic plot (sadistic prisoner) is one that is dropped, and also Carol's comicbook fate too.

I know we've got to lose people now and then, but I worry that the TV show isn't exactly finding living replacements for the ones we are losing... I can't exactly see anyone from Woodbury leaving there and joining the Grimes Gang... except Merle, maybe, and that would probably be to betray them.

Well, if the two prisoners count as additions to the group, and if Carol shows back up, then they're actually still +1 baby over what they had when they ended last season.

I thought the bloated zombie was kind of goofy.
