Hey it's a bit hokey but my daughter liked it. The evil plot stuff always gets boring. They made a french man the bad guy...that was funny.
I'm a Zorro fan. The latest ones certainly aren't traditional. With Anthony Hopkins playing the original Zorro (ouch). Zorro has a few inspirations but one of them was a bandit/freedom fighter by the name of Joaquin. The original Zorro story made Joaquin the brother of Zorro. In the films Joaquin is again the brother of a different Zorro. Banderas plays Alejandro the 2nd Zorro...and he also has a brother called Joaquin who is killed.
Anyways in Zorro 2 the son of Banderas(Alejandro) is called Joaquin. Catherine Zeta-Jones plays his wife Elena (daughter of original Zorro). Sorry if I confused the heck out of you!
So any Zorro fans out there? The films were all right. Fun and all of that.
btw, the original Zorro is called Diego de la Vega. Wierd coincedence my fiancee and I decided on the names Diego or Joaquin if we have a boy in the future.

Haven't seen it yet but plan to. Caroline and I are both big fans of Banderas and enjoyed the first movie. It is just too bad it took so long to get a sequel made. Seven years is a bit much for a movie that doesn't rely on heavy special effects.

I'm not that much of a Banderas fan, but I did enjoy the first film, and I have a jones for Catherine ... so I'll see this eventually. I find, though, that few films make me want to go to the trouble to make a trip to the cinema. Unless they're at the local $2.50 second-run eight-plex. The last film I shelled out to see at a first-run house was "Shopgirl," a superlative adult romance, but I also have an interest the size of a Great Dane(s) for Claire

Greybird, I suggest maybe checking out Mambo Kings by Banderas. Maybe his best American film ever. His spanish films also are better than most everything he made in USA as well. And I have a big crush for Catherine. She may be perfect.

I have only liked Banderas as Zorro..I liked the movie. Thought the kid who played the son was really good. Loved the fight with the teacher.
Looking for Earth Prime.

I loved "The Mambo Kings." I even bought the soundtrack CD.
I don't recall much of Banderas from that, though. Perhaps he simply hadn't made enough movies yet to leave much of an impression, on me, when it was released in theaters. Or I'm thinking too much of the various immensely talented musicians in the film. Or, perhaps, both factors kicked in.
In any event, I'll have to rent that one again!
