Well, very long life, anyway.

In checking out what Scott had posted tonight by Mitch Foust (see Bits), I loaded the Page Info screen in my Netscape browser.

I noticed that the "favicon.ico", that little world logo that should appear in your bookmarks/favorites and browser tab, had the following expiration date in my browser cache:

Saturday, February 6, 2106 10:28:15 PM

What'll we have then, Windows ZZZZZP? I'll be a sprightly 147. (My grandmother is now 106. Don't rule it out!)

It's the first time I've genuinely encountered, in the course of daily life, a date in the 22nd Century that's actually operating to affect something, however small. Makes you ponder the evanescence of life, eh?

Who was U.S. vice president in 1906? Quick now, and no fair peeking. ... Yeah, I had to look up Charles Fairbanks, myself, whoever the hell he was. Nobody remembers him now, except those who've read a biography of Teddy Roosevelt.

The same fate will have befallen Dick Cheney when favicons.ico expires from my browser cache. Somehow, that fills me with a sense of inner peace about the natural order of things.

True. I should resemble Yul Brynner by that point if I'm lucky.

Uncle Fester if I'm not.

It used to be said, in 100 years it's all new people. Well, maybe not.

Believe me, 'Binger, I wish those of us on this side of the pond could forget who Dick Cheney was.

Fortunately, as Groucho Marx amended the old saying, time wounds all heels wink
