We're off on holiday tomorrow, flying out to Calgary in the morning and spending three weeks trundling around Calgary, Bamff, Edmonton, Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle. If I get a chance to check in while I'm away I'll say hello but if not I'll be back in the middle of August. Play nice while I'm gone.

It sounds like great fun, especially the BC and Seattle part. We'll miss you. Be safe.

Just my luck. Somebody finally comes around these parts, and I'm not going to be around. Have fun! Juan

But you missed the Calgary Stampede. Surely thousands of strapping men dressed as cowboys is the prime reason to go to Calgary.
I kid. I kid. Have a good time out there its nice. Its a pretty exciting town with the energy boom. Calgary is a pretty town, Banff is amazing, the west coast is nice too.

A beautiful place, been years since I've been there. I'm hoping to head to the other corner in a week or so, towards Nova Scotia, PEI, and maybe meet me some Newfies.

Bevis, if you have time you must see Waterton National Park. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, full of stunning scenery and challenging hiking trails throught the Rockies. I've been about 3 times and can never get enough of the place. Also, check out the dinosaurs in Drumheller, and the hoodoos near Drumheller, or Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park. There is so much to see and do in BC and southern Alberta!

Just a quick check in while I have internet access here in the hotel. We're in Victoria at the moment, off up to Vancouver tomorrow morning. We've been to Clagary, Banff, Edmonton and then here to Victoria and have Vancouver and Seattle to go. The weather jhad been nigh on perfect so far (a little warm a couple of days but otherwise very nice indeed). In fact the only day we had any real rain was Sunday in Calgary during the folk festival where we were waiting to see Ani De Franco (she was headlining so was the last person on) and the skies just opened so we ended up going home and missing her, but we'd seen Dar Williams and That 1 Guy (who is just incredible and I'd never heard of before) and a Yiddish C&W group jamming with a Latino band which was prett damn brilliant so it wasn't all bad, and apart from the very end of the day the weather had been perfect. Likie I say though that was the only day where we had any bad weather so far. So far we've been up a mountain in Banff, which is just one of the most beautiful places I've ever been even with the tourist rubbish (plus I loved the moo Cow ice-cream shop), walked on a glacier in the middle of summer (something I never thought I'd do), sat on the toe of an 86 foor T-Rex in Drumheller (I'll post the photo of that when i get home), been to the hoodoos (which were a lot smaller than I was expecting but still cool), been to the zoo in Calgary (mooses, yay!) and generally had a darn good time. We keep being amused by the fact that loads of Canadians think we're Australian (so can't work that one out) and were especially amused last night when we were on a ghost walk and the guide was going round asking where everyone was from and I said 'Manchester' and half the group clapped as if it were a great acheivement. he he. Americans (for most of the group were Americans) are easily impressed. So we have just over another week here (flying out next Friday) but we've got Vancouver Pride this weekend and whale watching on Friday and stuff so I'm sure there'll be much more to say when we get back. I'll see you all then. B
