I came across this article on Facebook. It makes some very compelling observations about what Levitz and Giffen were doing with the Conspiracy, the Magic Wars, and Five Years Later, and about the fallout from the Legionnaires' inability to accept loss and change during those events. In a broader sense, the article also discusses change in comics since the Bronze Age.

I can't really say I agreed with the central points in the article at all. It rambled a bit and was reaching to fit the Legion in with it's conclusions.
