Yo Rocky, what's the weather been like in Houston? It's been so humid and sticky here in Atlanta.

Late October, early November, late February, and early March are usually the best time for weather in Houston.

This summer was actually relatively cool, by Houston standards. We never hit 100F a single day.

Of course, everything is air conditioned here, so relief is usually pretty easy to find.

I sweat so much that even if all buildings are airconditioned, I will get exhausted walking for 5 minutes in between outdoor areas.

Case in point, it took me about 5 minutes to cross from the train to the building on the other side and I was drenched with sweat as soon as I did.

I've always heard that Houston is the most air-conditioned city in the world, but I've never seen that stats that back that up.

Author Gore Vidal was apparently not related to Al Gore, but was fifth cousin to Jimmy Carter.

When I was young my aunt had a bottle of Vidal Sassoon shampoo in her bathroom. I always thought it was such a funny name.

When I was young I liked the Sassoon advertising jingle: "Ooh, la, la, Sassoon."

The song "Hey, Good Lookin'" was originally written by Cole Porter, but was substantially changed by Hank Williams.

I read that Cole Porter took up music in defiance of his grandfather.

Moving into fiction, the last descendant of Ghengis Khan was the Shadow's Nemesis: Shiwan Khan.

In reality, Ghengis Khan had loads of kids, so he must have loads of descendants.

Denny O'Neil and Mike Kaluta did a great comic book version of The Shadow.

What evil lurks in the hearts of men!

There sure were a lot of non-powered costumed crime fighters. The Phantom, Batman, Green Hornet...

I really enjoyed the 1994 Alec Baldwin film The Shadow. It didn't do well at the box office, but I've always thought it was underrated. I would like to see a Hawkman film, set in the Golden Age, handled in a similar way.
