"Lady Luck" was a backup feature in the original Golden Age run of Will Eisner's "The Spirit." She had what I thought was a very distinctive and very cool costume.

Duo Damsel tries out another costumed identity. " I need all the Luck I can get," said the former Triplicate Girl.
"...not having to believe in a thing to be interested in it and not having to explain a thing to appreciate the wonder of it."

"Lu, darling, you don't need luck, you need therapy so you can finally get over Superboy. That was cute when you were still a teenager, but now it's creepy."

Seconded by Chuck Taine, owner of one of the creepiest 'taches in comics.

At least shaving it off will be easier than going to therapy.

Chuck's ugly 'tache was Keith Giffen's "gift" to him. It wasn't the first time that Giffen would pointlessly uglify a Legionnaire, and it wouldn't be the last.

Processed food is disgusting and unhealthy.
(Good point well taken regarding Chuck, Ibby.)

I took it perhaps be that Chuck felt that as Academy director, his humorous disposition needed a maturing balance. As a result, he went with the 'tache. Lots of folks do that. I think he had a beard in the next run.

I remember the beard. It worked better on him than the 'tache did.

Call me a heretic, but I didn't like Star Boy's much-beloved beard.

I heard that the beard was sick of his whining and demanded to be put onto the face of another Legionnaire. They couldn't agree terms. But who?

Maybe the beard decided to retire while it still could.

The beard had more personality than he did LOL Oh, my. No wonder, then, that Preboot Star Boy was always the Legionnaire I would accidentally (?) overlook every time I wrote a reference list of Legionnaries.

It says a lot that we're talking more about Thom's beard than we are about Thom.
