According to Bendis: Very excited everyone is so into Gold lantern's proper debut in legion of superheroes! Good news, he's been in the book since the Legion of superheroes millennium issue two. He was already on the cover of issue one! If you've already been buying the book you already have his first appearance https://www.instagram.com/p/CAEF0N7JDUS/i will have to re-read those issues to see if i can spot him...

I am looking forward to issue #6 and hopefully will answer some questions I'm curious about:
1) Gold Lantern - a) what emotion/powers does he represent; b) is there a Gold Lantern corp; c) how did Gold Lantern get created; d) what happened to the other lantern emotion corps. 2) Monster Boy - a) powers?; b) origin; c) what planet is he from 3) Dr. Fate - a) from Earth or another planet; b) origin; c) Peers or more/less powerful than White Witch
Are there more new legionaries pending?

The green skeleton person is also supposed to be a new Legionnaire.

Are there more new legionaries pending? Maybe Gold Lantern is like a Gold Pass allowing him full access to all the Emotional Spectrum. Something else similar to Rainbow Girl Pre-Flashpoint.

They already had a concept like that called the Phantom Lantern. The ring is initially a gray color but it changes based on which aspect gets channeled.

I haven't seen such creepy eyes on a Legionnaire since that Superman and the Legion story that Gary Frank drew.
Still "Fickles" to my friends.

I think Sook did a great job showing shock and concern in his expression.

I have an easier time looking at that than the one page Gary Frank did of Brainy.
You all know the one I mean.

You all know the one I mean. Yeah, I'm not all that sold on a lot of Sook's design choices, but I'd take him as an artist over Gary Frank any day of the week.

Eh, when Gary's good he's good. His stuff on Supergirl and Tangent Comics was a lot neater before he started adding the pencil shading.

Eh, when Gary's good he's good. His stuff on Supergirl and Tangent Comics was a lot neater before he started adding the pencil shading. Some of his Hulk issues are quite good, too (I'm thinking particularly the "Troyjan War" storyline, and the wedding of Rick and Marlo.) All the more reason why it bothers me that his style has changed in ways that I find off-putting. And to make it clear, I wasn't trying to offend or upset anybody with what I said about Brainy's eyes as drawn by Sook. Nightcrawler, EDE, if I did so to either or both of you, then I apologize.
Still "Fickles" to my friends.

I honestly haven't paid much attention to Frank beyond his Legion work, so maybe he is a lot better in other contexts. But his "crazy eyes" annoyed the heck out of me. Definitely not offensive in any way, AH. Well, maybe to Sook.

thanks for the link!
Likes:
1) Sense of urgency 2) The dialogue is improved, no more interrupting one another. The snark and sass (Monster Boy telling the Earthlings to get over their prejudices because he can't choose his forms) is more well-placed and natural 3) Rose actually DOING something, not just helping with evac but also coordinating with Brainy. (where is leader Cos though?) 4) FERRO LAD!
Ambivalent about:
Monster Boy not being able to choose forms. I don't really enjoy "Pandora's box" characters like that. On the other hand, it differentiates him well from Cham. Would have preferred a more unique powerset though (I have the same qualms about White Witch vs. Dr. Fate)

Wow! I for one was amazed at the in-depth exploration of the three new Legionnaires, in which we learn each of their dark secrets and reasons for joining the Legion! I was especially surprised at the depth given to the new Doctor Fate!
And that whole special connection to Jon Kent thing came out of the blue! Really changed my perspective on everything!
Seriously, though, the issue was okay for what it was. I just wish there was a lot more there.

it is meant to be grandiose but we don't see anything, all the important stuff seems to be done off-panel...Just a bunch of splash pages one after another to show off every character....It looks more like a bunch of commissions put together than a story.
It's beautiful, that's for sure, but so disappointing in anything else. We don't learn anything and the issue is over before you know it...

I agree. This issue didn't interest me at all, it felt like I just watched the trailer and nothing else.
I still don't know anything about Monster Boy other than his power; I don't know anything about Gold Lantern other than he is basically a deus ex machina (teleport?!?!? Transmute?!?!? you already have Element Lad, and now I just feel angrier that Gates or Veilmist wasn't brought in instead). Did we even get a line from or about Dr. Fate??
Wasn't President Brande angry at the Legion just last issue? so now that they accidentally restored Earth's oceans, we're ok again? Sure, oceans are important but we were never shown it, you know. I never felt the weight of it. I never felt the weight of the Horaz either. And why is Ultra Boy's dad suddenly free at the end?
Even the fight scenes were boring. Just Legionnaires shouting their names and making useless banter.
If I were a new reader... I would have to guess what Dawnstar does or what Wildfire does or who Shadow Lass is.
I'm extremely disappointed. The Threeboot at least had some sort of narrative going on. Here... I can't even describe the story anymore. It feels like something written by a five-year old with ADHD.
