You know I didn't think I had any idea but now I think I've got it.
These 6 legionnaires were all first introduced in the Supergirl story in Action 276 "Supergirl's Three Super Girl-Friends", her second visit to the 30th Century when, this time, she succeeds in joining the Legion.
(Always found it interesting that although Triplicate Girl and Phantom Girl are shown as members and Brainiac 5 joins with Kara, Sun Boy and Bouncing Boy and Shrinking Violet are all applicants who apparently fail to join at this time yet next time we see them they are full members.)

It's a pretty basic connection, but one that's a bit unintuitive because we think of these characters as separated in term of canonical "order of membership".

t's also interesting to think that not only were those six characters introduced in the second Supergirl story, but Colossal Boy, Chameleon Boy, and Invisible Kid were introduced in the first, which makes you wonder what things would've been like if they'd kept the idea that Supergirl's Legion was actually the future of the one that Superboy joined!
