Now I suspect this won't mean a huge amount to our cousins across the Pond, but I'm sure that for any other UKers of almost any age it'll come as very sad news that Oliver Postage passed away yesterday.

Postgate, along with his co-creator Peter Firmin, was responsible for some of the greatest children's TV (nay, greatest TV full stop) ever and along with Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake is one fo teh biggest parts of my own childhood. If you've never heard of him or experienced the wonders that he created check Youtube or similar for Bagpuss, Noggin the Nog, Ivor The Engine or (my own favourite) The Clangers. Just the most wonderful animations with great stories and songs all held together by Postgate's voice, which is one of the most comforting and warming voices you'll ever hear. He was a truly great man and will be very sadly missed.
