Or recommend any music that you think is really great, though preferably with a "feel good" sort of vibe. I've got a new iPod Nano to fill up!

"Unskinny Bop" Poison

Just spouting off.

Billy Idol! If you were a teenager in the 80's (and I was, sigh) you can't possibly stand still to "Rebel Yell". I just downloaded it!

And some Clash, Ramones, and Romantics.

Oh, well if we're downloading 80's feel good music, gotta go with some Duran Duran. Who can stand still to "Rio" or "Hungry Like The Wolf?"

And not 80s, but I love working out to Queen. smile

White. A blank page or canvas. His favorite. So... many... possibilities.

For awhile there, I used to do morning exercises to Rick Wakeman's "1984 Overture". Later, I used to get on my exercise bike and put on Cher's TAKE ME HOME cd! (Something else else about that disco beat... heh heh)

The Living End - Roll On
Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench
Faders - No Sleep Tonight
Motion City Soundtrack - Everything is Alright
The Futureheads - Decent Days And Nights
So They Say - Forever Young
The White Stripes - Fell In Love With A Girl

80stastic bonus track: "You've Got The Touch" from the Transformers Movie

for me it has to have a high BPM !! about 120 and over, especially when i'm running !!

most of my favourites are dance remixes from 1991 - 1995 [ my clubbing years ] and they are usually remixes by David Morales [ i have over 100 of his remixes ] and ones of my all time favourites is "Dreamlover" !!

Matthew.

I actually find that when I'm running if I listen to a song that is slower than the pace I'm running at, it pumps me up more. Lately its been Johnny Cash.

BTW, Billy Idol rocks. That's 'driving in my car' music for me! 'Rebel Yell' is as cool as the other side of the pillow Mechana!

I always listen to rock music when I work out. Well "rock" music, anyway. But that might just be more because that's mostly what I listen to, anyway.

I'd recommend...
The Fray
OK Go
Sugarcult
Fall Out Boy

Though, I have a fondness for '80s pop/rock, as well. smile Fun times.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions; you never know what you're missing! Lots of things to look into. Keep 'em coming!

Caliente, I'm not familiar with any of your choices (feeling really old now), but I'll certainly check them out.

Matthew, I too was a club kid in the mid nineties; some good stuff there.

Cobie: I hadn't listened to Billy Idol in decades, except for that cameo in The Wedding Singer (love that movie!), but that voice still melts me like buttah...

More, more, more! I mean more suggestions, I'm not actually quoting Billy Idol!

"Heaven" - DJ Sammy & Yannou featuring Do. Very popular several years ago. S'got an awesome beat - very up tempo and "feel good"

"Born Slippy" - Underworld (you might remember from "Trainspotting")

"SOS" - Rihanna. A newer one. Great use of "Tainted Love"

"Send me on my Way" - Rusted Root. A modest hit in the '90's. Has more of a world beat.

I remember when I was a junior in HS and I ran track, I'd sing (inside my head) "Run to the Hills" as I'd ...run. Um, the heavy metal band...omg, I can't think of the name of the band....

Nowadays, being a total American Idol geek, I listen to my favorite performances from that show on my iPod, while I do the ellyptical machine. For me, it makes the time go by much quicker than if I just listen to the music in that's attached to the gym's machines.

SL - Run To The Hills was by Iron Maiden.

I must admit that I pretty much hate the crap that they play in my gym. Poppy synthesized re-mixes of 80s classics, pretty much.

I personally reckon that Andrew WK is great for working out to.
Listening to his album on its own is a bit monotonous, but it's got a solid steady beat which males it great for bike, X trainer etc.

A bit of MM thrown in - Beautiful People's good.

Or, harking back to hte 80's again we've got Transvision Vamp. Baby I Don't Care etc.

I always have a copy of (Let Me Be Your) Dirty Fucking Whore by Machine Gun Fellatio on my mp3 - the beat's crap to workout to, but it brings a smile to my face while I'm sweating my bollocks off and in pain.

Hic!
