The Gear Daddies (a great local band)
Pseudopod "Pseudopod"
Sevendust "Seasons"
Johnny Clueless "Kissed in Kansas"
Train "My Private Nation"

It's always cool to discuss musical tastes. I get something new out of it everytime.

Just spouting off.

Far- I love the Pogues! I haven't listened to them in forever, I'm glad that you reminded me about them.

CJ- I'm a big Sevendust fan myself. Nice call!

And two general things:

1. I love Rock and Roll music, specifically from the 60's and 70's, as well as Punk music (real Punk music), and Rock of the 90's. Since I don't recognize a lot of the CD's that people listen to, if you think I'd like them, let me know! I'm always up for finding new bands that I like.

2. I highly, highly reccomend the Soundtracks for Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Amazing. Possibly the best Soundtracks I've ever heard.

I pulled out a garage rock comp that MOJO magazine gave away with one of their issues last year. Some real scorchers on that.

I may spin their Blues and Soul comps later on tonight.

It's got good stuff on it, but my favorite Monkees LP remains Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, and Jones, Ltd. I love their stabs at psychedelia.

I've had Battle Without Honor or Humanity by Tomoyasu Hotei in my MP3 list since I saw the first trailer, back before it was going to be two movies. If the rest of the soundtrack for either volume is as good I may have to get both albums.

Hmmmmm... Let's see if I can recall from memory.

The CD player at home has the CD I has listening to this mrgning while getting ready for work, SATURDAY MORNING FAVORITES. Released inteh early '90s, I think, it has alternative artists performing theme songs to Saturday morniung cartoon of the '70s.

Also inthe CD player is a similar compilation of SCHOOLHOUSE ROCKS! tunes.

Others, in the changer are, I think, an a palla group called FOURSHADOW, a hommade CD one of my wife's co-workers maade of TOBY KIETH'S latest SHOCK'N Y'ALL. 5th CD in changer is A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, a Stephen Sondheim musical, I think.

My car does not have a CD player. The last thing I loaded into the CD player in my wife's vehicle was a BARE NAKED LADIES doec, not sure exactly which one, or even if still there....

Scott, the rest of the soundtracks for both albums is just as good as Battle Without Honor or Humanity, and I definately recommend picking them up.

"Battle..." is one of my favorite tracks for Vol 1, and it fits so nicely into the sequence with Oren and her crew walking in that scene. The other track that I love, which is my favorite, is the "Lonely Sheperd", the track that plays when Black Mamba gets the sword, and then again at the end when it goes from Bill to the credits. A very awesome song.

Vol 2 has a bunch of good ones too!

Still need to pick up both those soundtrack. Heck, I still need to see Vol. 2 but I think I'm going to wait for the combo movie that Quentin is working on.

As for what I have currently. Well, the Punisher and Daredevil soundtracks are still loaded in my car along with A Perfect Circle's new one (Thirteenth Step) and Audioslave's Audioslave. And just got Caroline George Michael's new one and that's in there as well.

In the CD player in the kitchen is the first 8 hours of the unabridged audio version of The DaVinci Code. My mom-in-law got tired of reading it outloud to Caroline's dad so I took my Audible copy for my Palm Pilot and created two MP3 CDs of it. Just one MP3 per CD, one being 8 hours in length, the other over 7.

I hope you're enjoying the Da Vinci Code then Scooter, I thought it was a really intersting book--especially b/c most of what's in it has a large basis in historical fact and rumor.

Audioslave's album is excellent, although I haven't listened to the Punisher or Daredevil soundtracks yet besides what was popular on the radio.

And the Kill Bill soundtracks are *definately* worth picking up--I don't think I've been more pumped up by a CD since Master of Puppets when I first bought it at age 12. Just great music all around.

Outdoor Miner, I recently downloaded a song by Nuetral Milk Hotel, the title track "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea", and was suprised at how much I like it.

And I recently made myself an all-rock CD with "Maps" on it (which I really like), "Seven Nation Army" (my fave White Stripes Song), "Boys of Summer" by the Ataris, b/c I was thinking of songs I liked last summer. There was also the usual mix of Clash/Green Day/REM/Led Zep/etc. on it.

Ah, Green Day. One song I include on just about every mixed CD I make, Brain Stew. I have to hear it once a day because I think it best describes how I usually feel:

I’m having trouble trying to sleep
I’m counting sheep but running out
As time ticks by
And still I try
No rest for crosstops in my mind
On my own... here we go
My eyes feel like they’re gonna bleed
Dried up and bulging out my skull
My mouth is dry
My face is numb
Fucked up and spun out in my room
On my own... here we go
My mind is set on overdrive
The clock is laughing in my face
A crooked spine
My sense dulled
Passed the point of delerium
On my own... here we go

Green Day is one of my all-time favorite bands Scott! When I first got a car with a CD player, I had a Green Day CD (along with a Clash, Led Zeppelin and Mettalica CD) in there constantly, but as the months drew on, I had to change them out. So everytime I make a new CD, I usually include a Green Day song on for good measure.

Currently "When I Come Around" is on this CD, although I love "She", Longview" and pretty much ever song on the Dookie album, not to mention both their earlier and later stuff.

Miner, I've got a CD of some early 80's stuff by local MN bands. Loud Fast Rules (became Soul Asylum) and Husker Du are a couple of the bands on it.

Suburbs - "Viva La Suburbs"
Keri Noble - "Fearless"
Tim Mahoney - self titled.

It's a lazy local day...

Well, we have two CD players. Durwood has a 100 disc jukebox upstairs for the dungeon but it's only half full, mostly with Hawkwind, surf bands, Sparks, and Roxy Music.

My 5 disc changer currently has:
Eno's Another Green World
Banarama's Greatest Hits Collection
The Original Broadway Cast Recording of A Little Night Music
Michael Nesmith and the First National Band's 16 Original Classics
and
Falling In Love Again - Sophisticated Songs from European Cabaret

Cool. I think the whole disc is just as good.

I'm currently listening to Systems of Romance by the pre-Midge Ure Ultravox.

I finally bought the Yeah Yeah Yeahs cd FEVER TO TELL.

My conclusion: The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are the coolest band that ever was, is or will be.

A compilation CD put together by Eric Clapton for Uncut magazine. A lot of blues (as one might expect) but also some jazz and classical pieces and a selection from an opera as well.

I picked up Velvet Revolver's CONTRABAND, along with Jet's GET BORN. A good day for good old ROCK!

My only gripe, and it's not musical: The Velvet Revolver CD is protected against duplication, and thus won't play on my PC without downloading software. Freaking record companies... put all this money into fighting piracy and pass the cost on to the customer, instead of lowering their base prices in the FIRST place...! mad

Anywho... Think I'm gonna go to sleep listening to Jet's "Radio Song"... 'Night all!

Night POV! I was thinking of download the Velvet Revolver's album from Rhapsody since I have 10 free downloads coming from them. Is the album worth it? I think I'd have to pay for 3 of the songs, 13 on the album, so it would cost me 3 bucks, I think, to have the whole thing downloaded and burned to CD.
