There's a preview of the start of both stories at http://www.comicvine.com/news/first-look-adventure-comics-2-preview/139297/

whoa nice artwork there. less jagged...and love the background, it's serene and calm.

Definitely looking forward to get #2/#505.

There are a couple cute details in the artwork, but overall this preview is boring and trite, and fails to make me want to buy the issue.

I've said it elsewhere, but the rendering of Garth's costume makes it look like he's wearing a giant diaper (or nappy, for those across the pond).

...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

I like the artwork. The futuristic Metropolis looks great, too.

I agree about Garth's diaper. It looks pretty bad. So does Imra's hair. She looks manly.

And if we are only gong to get eight pages of story every month, do we need a big giant splash page that tells us next to nothing?

Okay, I'm saying this about Saturn Girl. Her hair should either by short like this or long. I hated those flip bangs she had in the 1980s when Giffen was writing.

looks good to me!
Garth and Imra don't act married though.
glad the Mekt revelation is something sneaky like a trap.
Cockrum's Lightning Lad costume is far superior (Black Lightning even ripped it off). (re: diaper comment- even L.L.'s Forte costume looked like diapers, so it has a long tradition! lol.)
let's get this story moving now.

I love seeing Legionnaires casually waving in flight coming and going to HQ. It is so brilliant and obvious! Is this the first time we've seen this?

I looks like the various artists are trying to gradually wittle away at the worst features of these unfortunate uniforms. I have to admit, it's getting better. Imra's hair reminds me of when it was burned and hanging out in clumps after the Time Trapper battle.

Is Cos Leader now, or is the Legion being run by committee?

On page 2 (the splash), I don't know how close Imra is standing to Rokk, but her hand is in an interesting place.

Who's the guy being waved to by Dawny and Drake?

I think, sorry, that the costumes just get worse and worse.

And usually there's some tradition about being married, rings or necklaces or something.
Imra and Garth don't seem to have anything to indicate their marriage.

I don't know how the rest of you feel, but something to do with Mekt was about the last thing on my list of Legion Adventure stories I wanted to see.
I'm pretty sick of Mekt.

I believe that's Colossal Boy. Of course, it could be Yera.

I hadn't noticed the hand placement, but I have noticed all through the Lo3Worlds stuff that Imra seemed to be agreeing more and more with Rokk, and looked constantly tired of arguing with Garth and trying to keep him from flying off of the handle.

Imra and Rokk are acting a lot more like the increasingly exasperated parents to an unruly child, than like Garth's wife and best friend...

With Garth's current hothead interpretation, it would actually make sense for Rokk and Imra to hook up.

Yes, I've thought before that Imra and Rokk might find themselves very tired of Garth.

He's not much fun (I still think that Proty is over compensating.)

If they're not married yet, or maybe if there's just not kids yet, Imra needs to run, with or without Rokk.

Not a great issue IMHO, but not bad. Conner and Cassie get back together (surprisingly) and Luthor learns of his return while on the run with Brainiac.

The back-up was ...odd. Garth and Mekt go over the same old ground they always do with a twist at the end: Mekt reveals he's got a twin too. Is he screwing with Garth or telling the truth? Either way, it looks like he'll have Garth chasing his tail for a while, which is probably what the LSV wants.

(it all kinda feels like a waiting game for Levitz now, huh?)

I wonder if Mekt's twin is Mekt from another universe.

Do you notice Mekt's the only one of the LSV to have consistent counterparts in every reboot?

Nice issue. I'm enjoying the Johns/Manapul take on Superboy. Smallville is turning out to be a great setting for Conner. Much better than Hawaii. Martha Kent is being used to great effect. It's good to see that Conner and Cassie are resuming their relationship. There are some couples in comic books that just work. This is one of them. There has been the curiosity factor regarding a Superman/Wonder Woman romance for years. With Lois around, that scenario will never play out on a long term basis. The romance between their junior partners gives us a chance to explore that dynamic. It seems very natural. The story was simple and sweet. I've used the word gorgeous to describe Manpul's work before. It applies, once again, to this issue.

I wasn't expecting to like the Legion back up based on the online previews. It was better than expected. I'm not yet a fan of Clayton Henry, but I am warming to his style a bit. It's a clean style. The Ranzz boys are certainly beefy. I guess I can live with that.

Lightning Lord has become the Legion's most overused villain. Up until the end, there was really nothing to the exchange that we haven't heard many times before. For some reason it was still entertaining. Good dialog, maybe? The frustration is that we now have another mystery that I am pessimistic about. Will we learn anything about the twin within in the next six months or year? There were about a dozen mysteries set up in issue number one. Not a single one was followed up on in this issue. Resolving plot lines has become a lost art form for DC.

Agreed. Paul get us some stories to read stat!

The art is beautiful. We need writers to write something. #1 and #2 (both features) could have been done in less than one issue. $3.99 for huge panels containing no story isn't going to cut it

And what's with the 31st century creating a new prison world and using metal bars to contain a meta human?!? They actually paid people to write this crap?

I'm not sure how many panels a comic book is supposed to contain. Or how many panels would justify a $3.99 price tag. I do remember a lot of people were critical of Giffen's nine panel per page approach. Personally, I don't think every book needs a "medium" number of panels. Variety works.

The lead story was by no means dense. Sure, it was a fairly quick read, but it was a pretty effective story for my money. As I read this issue, I found myself thinking about Shooter's parting shots at Manapul for being an ineffective storyteller. Manapul did a great job of telling the story here. Facial expressions, body language , a beautiful backdrop. Conner and Cassie had lot to work through. Pain, guilt, relief, fear, hope. All the ingredients of a first love were on display. These two kids have grown a lot since their Young Justice days. Both are stronger, better, and more complex people. I've always lived in college towns. I get such a kick out of watching boys and girls become men and women. I got that feeling while reading this issue. That's hardly nothing.

I do wish they would cut back on the splash pages in the back up stories. It is possible to tell a complete story in eight pages, but some economy is needed. What we've seen so far feels more like previews of coming attractions than anything else.
