can we start a thread for questions for Paul Levitz? let's keep the questions simple and concise and respectful. i don't know if we'll ever get answers but he may read them and get a better understanding of what's on the hardcore fans' minds.
---
Can you describe the differences between the character of Brainiac 5 and Vril Dox?

I don't think that's a question so much as an accusation that Brainiac 5 is being written out of character, which is true, but probably doesn't go in a questions thread.

really? i didn't mean for it to be an accusation. i think it's totally fair and precedented to ask a writer his thoughts on character.

For actual questions, some things I would ask would straddle the line between question and suggestion, but here's an actual question: What parts of Legion of Three Worlds do you think might need to be ignored?

My question:

Without revealing any story plans or subplots, have you begun to plant little seeds for major storylines in the semi-far future, much like the Shrinking Violet / Yera plotline took almost 20 issues to reach fruition? If so, should we start rampant speculation? laugh

My question:

So, if you were Monster Master, wouldn't you have just used your power to control Walking Money? Then you could, like, pay for stuff and have the money come back to you!

Paul is too diplomatic to ever answer this, but I would love to hear his take on Shooter's threeboot return to Legion and the behind the scenes politics involved in his early departure.

True to that. And who decided to bring back the retroboot Legion as if the 3boot didn't exist.

Not to mention 5YL being treated as if it never happened.

Anyway, I'd actually like to know to what extent Paul will be bringing in concepts from other versions of the team, ala Aven in his first issue.

I would like to know if his concept of individual characters' personalities has changed since he last wrote the book, but I guess we'll see that as the characters develop.

5YL is the only case in which Paul has reportedly hated. So that's why he will ignore it. But apparently Jim Lee is doing Cos in his Giffen's 5YL style for his alternate cover to issue #5.

[prequestion suck-up] Loved seeing Invisible Lyle, however briefly in Adventure (during the baseball game).

[actual question] Will we see more of Invisible Lyle, or Chemical King, Ferro Lad or Karate Kid during these Adventure flashbacks?

As much as I'd like to see those characters appear in Adventure soon, I would much rather that Paul take his time and focus on the few members in the Legion that exist right now at this point in his story.
I can wait (painfully so) until Karate Kid, who was always my favorite btw, not to mention Princess Projectra and Ferro Lad all make that historic first appearance as try-outs.
I just want Paul to take his time and not rush with this particular Adventure comic project.

Any plans for Ayla/Vi, for that matter? Since the book takes place in the future, you can have a gay wedding without it being considered anything unusual by the characters.

The portrait with the moving eyes in LSH #2: there was speculation that it was Yera or Quislet keeping an eye on Earth-Man, but the Legion discovered his main secret (the ring) next issue without any help from the portrait. Does the portrait mean anything or was it just an artist joke?

What's the status of Dev-Em? There have recently been two separate characters named Dev-Em or Devem, neither of whom matches up with the Legion's version very well.

What's the status of Laurel Kent? She was revealed to be a Manhunter during your run, but it seemed obvious that that was partly done so that there are no Kryptonians except Superman, which isn't a problem any more.

Some questions for Mr. L. pertaining to character psychology.

1) What are your thoughts about Thom Kallor aka Starman being portrayed as a schizophrenic whose mental disease dates back to his teenage years, and perhaps earlier?

2) Recent portrayals have strongly implied that Lightning Lad suffers from a neurological disorder resembling ADHD, which may or may not be tied to his electrical powers. Are his new eidetic spatial visualization skills based upon the idea that he's somehow neurologically, um, peculiar?

3) Do you plan on following up Cosmic Boy's extreme decision ("Legion of Three Worlds") to end all his personal relationships in order to carry the full burden of leadership on his shoulders?

4) There's been a lot of commentary about your characterization of Ultra Boy' as intellectually deficient. Any insights on the matter?

5) Brainy's obsessive, one-man war against cockroaches has fueled speculation that he's somehow connected to the Time Trapper. Is that crazy or what? (Please say it is!)

I'm also wondering if there are any *female* Legionnaires whose mental health is cause for concern. Violet maybe?

Mr. Levitz,

As a longtime fan, I appreciate your restraint in giving too much away in advance. I think many fans are so eager to know what's going to happen that they seem to forget the joy of being surprised by a good story.

I'd like to thank you for reading this thread (if you do) and for not giving into the expectations of what fans demand. As you likely know, many of us old-time fans are quite thrilled that you're back on Legion, and excited to see where you go with it.

Ah, the thread would not be completely without a sideways snipe at the fans. Excellent.
