I predicted back around August that LW would hit 400 members by January 1st 2004.

Do you think this will happen?

Yes, definately. The amount of members here grows incredibly fast !

I think it'll be close enough to be spooky. Hopefully we'll get a nice boost from the holidays.

Did some math. Here's how many joined in each month.

July - members #1-143 - 143 joined
August - 144-213 - 70
September - 214-253 - 40
October - 254-326 - 73
November (thus far) 327-350 - 23

You can see there was a spike in Oct so even though this month has been slow, it can turn around enough in one month to hit 400 by 1/1.
Over the last four months, we averaged almost 52 new members a month. So again, we have a decent shot at it.

By the way, what happened in Oct to account for the burst of newbies. Was it because I was gone?

And only 118 of those are Alt IDs! Not bad!

I asked in a Poll back in summer about who had Alt IDs, and for those who responded it was around 10%, and only one person answered said they had more than one. So maybe 30-40 is likely with a top count of 50?

During most of October you had to log in before you could brouse the boards, so lurkers had to register.

Since this topic is about member numbers, I was wondering why the latest member's number doesn't match between the directory's "Recent New Members" and the Legion World main page, i.e. new member kossori's "Recent New Members" number says 351, while the Legion World main page lists it as 346. It's been this way at least since I've been back I think.

That's because of the approval process for new members. There may have been some who were declined leaving the number they were assigned open until either Gary or I rearranges the member list.
