OP Brain-Fall-Out Boy Active Joined: Jul 2013 Posts: 530 Texas	I’ve seen it mark Evanier’s blog, which is when it’s official in my book. As I’m sure a lot of people do, I have mixed feelings about Stan leave a man and his legacy. But he undoubtedly made a lasting impact on the industry and genre we all love. As rough as his last few years appeared to be, i’m glad he got free of his abusive agent and was able to spend his last months surrounded by friends and family.

As a DC reader, I rolled my eyes a bit at the hyperbole filled editorials and the "Stan Lee presents" openings. But the books I was reading had the benefit of building on the foundations of character creation, plotting and characterisation that Stan and his co creators had already spent many years publishing. His promotion for Marvel was relentless and I look back at those editorials and see the inclusiveness and fun in them. And I see the debt that so many other books and companies owe to the style he was key in forging. "...not having to believe in a thing to be interested in it and not having to explain a thing to appreciate the wonder of it."

X-Men comics, and many others, showed me a world where it didn't matter what you looked like or where you were from. You could still be a hero. Stan didn't get in the way of that or shut it down, as many other people have and would have. I think that was brave.
