Not sure what you mean. Which part? Most of the issue is taken up with multiversal shenanigans that don’t have any real impact on the main DCU.

I assume he is referring to references to the United Planets, which I believe have been popping up throughout the current GL series.

United Planet Superwatch is regular universe.

In general, I’d chalk that up to Grant Morrison doing whatever he wants. See: Final Crisis, Action Comics

I read that Morrison would always try and pre-empt whatever Moore was working on. Morrison quickly reads up on it and publishes something relative to it first. Probably more of the same credit grabbing going on there. Final Crisis and Action Comics were both standouts in DC clearly not having an utter clue at an editorial level. Despite having nothing *but* editorial mandates going on at the time.

Here's the official preview for Superman #14, the new first appearance of the Legion of Super-Heroes

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/dcs-legion-super-heroes-returns-superman-month-1232839

...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

Well I guess that's it. Garth is definitely dark, and you know what? I don't think I care anymore. As much as this spoils what is going to appear in Superman #14, this presentation of the Legion and the formation of the UP is quite impressive and interesting and potentially exciting. It's got me in and I can only hope that it gets a lot more in. Bring on the new fans.

So, perhaps we have all seen this by now, but it does bring up a question... Spoiler Warning if you have not yet clicked on the link.
So Jon and his dad propose the creation of a United Planets. The Planetary Leaders are skeptical... but the Legion appears, coming back in time to recruit Jon. And incidentally telling everyone that the United Planets plan will be a great success. So the Planetary Leaders are convinced, and the United Planets is formed. Which leads to the formation of the Legion a hundred centuries later... which leads to the formation of the United Planets... which leads to the formation of the Legion...

Classic Bootstrap Paradox. I guess that's not a question.

I’d like to believe this settles the Schroedinger’s Race question, but I don’t think that will be definitively settled until the issue is actually
out.

One interesting bit about this origin of the United Planets is that traditionally the U.P. has been centered around Terran colonies or seed worlds. The fact that this version of the U.P. isn't perhaps connects to the overall more "alien" look of the Legion.

I wonder if some of the Legionnaires' home planets will change, to represent more of our "modern day" planets? Will Dawnstar become Thanagarian, for example? Will one of our Legionnaires be from Rann?

Having the UP be formed in our time also strengthens the links to existing heroes. Gold Lantern makes much more sense, when we see Red Lantern Atrocitues at the UP formation...

In Stellaris, xenophiles (alien loving species) liked to live on planets with a variety of different species. It would make sense that over time, the U.P would function a bit like Earth and travel between planets would be an option. The Superboy we have literally represents the blending of two species (Terran and Kryptonian). We also have examples of Terran/Tamaranian hybrids in Kingdom Come and in the Retroboot (Glorith).

My heart wants Gold Lantern to be a descendant of John Stewart and Shayera (I grew up with DCAU), but my brain tells me that possibility is low.

Well... despite all the controversies, I for one am VERy VERy happy we will be getting a New Legion book, and even more happy that apparently we'll be getting about 90% of the iconic characters back, albeit in some cases looking very different.
I see at least a couple of characters who could easily be Tyroc, BTW... and I WOULD like to see Ferro Lad. (also, maybe the Skull kid is Dead Lad, a la Deadman?)

ANYWAY, I had given hope of a new Legion, and so had greatly decreased the frequency I check this forum, so I am only finding out about this today!! Really exciting news!

Regarding all the hubbub about the characters skin tones: personally, I think it would be cool to claim the notion that in 1000 years, if indeed we finally get all the damned isolationists out of power, races will have mixed enough so that we (humans) will mostly all be the exact same probably light brownish hue. But for alien worlds, any color goes.

I will say that Saturn Girl's uniform looks more like a poorly chosen outfit than a uniform.

Hey guys. Lardy and the new LSH have me finally checking back in after that’s been forever.

I’m trying to keep an open mind on the new LSH and am hoping to enjoy it. It’s really sucked to have no LSH for a long time, and at this point I’m just glad there are creators that are enthusiastically taking the reigns. In past iterations, I think I’ve allowed nostalgia, nit-pickiness and unfair comparisons to past versions basically ruin it for me (i.e. the threeboot was something I just couldn’t enjoy and the return to the post boot never felt right). So time to keep an open mind.

I’ve been enjoying Bendis on Action and Event Leviathan immensely. Young Justice has been fun, and Naomi was great. The main Superman book is a drag for whatever reasons. But he may be what the LSH needs. And Ryan Sook is brilliant (I hope he’s here for a solid run and not some measly 6 issue arc).

It’s been a true valley in years for Legion fandom, and I hope we’re finally back on the way up.

Great job! Looking at those last panels from Superman 14 I have two questions: is Invisible Kid just invisible or plain absent? I get a Kirbiesque Big Bear vibe from Timber Wolf: is this on purpose?
