The heavy but short-lived snow from the week before last damaged our larger camelia bush, which is really more tree-sized due to its age. Half of it bent over, though no roots appear to have been loosened. Hopefully the tree doctor will be out today or tomorrow to try and salvage it.

We had a tree with dead roots in our yard. We actually pushed it over and they guy who does our gardening cut it up and hauled it off.

I of course was blamed for the dead roots because I have never met a plant I can't kill. This includes cactus, aloe, and ivy. I once had a plant commit suicide. I came home and it was on the floor.

Tom Sharpe farces have some popularity here, and he had a book titled Wilt.

Dealing with my springtime to-do list has made me realize that I'm both Sybil and Basil in the same cranium. But the tree guy came out and took care of the camelia for us. Allso, I filled up a large box with some nice clothes which I'd just hand-washed and which I haven't worn in years. I swapped them at the local thrift store for a great deal on a never-used food mill. (Four bucks, marked down from 24.) Even better, I cleaned around my studio workspace: tossing out a bunch of unusable papers, etc. and it looks SO much better and more comfortable now. So I have that going for me.

Dealing with my springtime to-do list has made me realize that I'm both Sybil and Basil in the same cranium. Same here.
Way to go! High five! By comparison, all I've managed to get done recently on my free time is to do my first sketches since I got my new job two months ago.

Indeed. I was in a Grand Canyon sized trough in January/February, more from a motivation and energy perspective than anything else. Then had more motivation last month, but had some work travel where I figured I'd be able to start actually writing. The reality was that the time spent was partying. So now I've finally gotten through all that and am editing my next thing.

There can be quite a gap between those waves.

Ah yes, I recall the rush of creative genius, as my muse guided the glitter projects of primary school. Oh to recapture that Promethean fire in adulthood!

Perhaps if you glitter bomb your house, it will reignite some creativity and passion!

My son is writing a fantasy novel and has set himself the goal of writing 500 words per day. He says he is mostly succeeding in keeping to that, which I am in awe of.
