Okay, so being from the 20th/21st century creates all sorts of annoying continuity ties for Lar that many of us don't like, but being from the 30th/31st eliminates the whole time spent in the phantom zone/bgztl buffer zone/stasis zone/whatever, that some feel is essential to the character.

So why not make him from a completely different century altogether?

The 25th Century of Lar Gand could also be used to bring in other cool story elements like villainous criminals, knaves of Daxam and Brainiac 3!

Good idea EDE, as it could bring in Mon, keep the LSH seperate from annoying continuity pressure and also leave the gate open for a flood of ideas if the right writer came along.

If you want him to seed the worlds, having it 1000 years pre-LSH is pushing it. Move it back to pre-20th rather than the other way round, I'd say.

The problem is, Lar Gand has already been running around the Galaxy, spent some time as Valor, Seeded the worlds and got shuffled into the Stasis Zone by Superboy. What's going to happen to that guy?

I could do without the seeder of worlds bit this time. It served the purpose of making him a "legendary inspiration" for TMK, but in the post-Zero Hour Legion it was more of a hinderance than a benefit to the character.

I'm fine with giving up the seeder of worlds bit, as I don't find that particularly essential to the character.

And as for his "appearances" in the 21st century, modern day continuity is, shall we say, "flexible". That's how we got in trouble in the first place, isn't it? So why not use that to get out of it.

Feh to the Phantom Zone! Just make a kick-ass name-taking Lar Gand from the 31st century, with his bitchen hot cousin Laurel, stick 'em in the re-imagined Legion and let 'em kick ass.

Might be a good way to explain the Mon-El name as well. I like it.

I agree with Lash's last comment. Just make Lar from the Legion's own time. How to make him a grand hero? Let him...save the universe in a nice event and become an instant legend...along with is cousin Laurel.

Nothing will turn me off more if we see a Superboy and Supergirl in this title. doh!

I like Reboot's idea of having a Mon/M'on/Mo'n-el from a period *before* the 20th/21st century. 1000 years really isn't a lot of time for civilizations to form on all those worlds, if the seeding is going to remain.

Maybe he could be a Roman Legionnaire! A Daxamite precursor to Superboy-- one sent to Earth as a baby, then raised by an ancient Roman family.

Or maybe he could be sent into a Daxamite Phantom Zone... leave Earth out of the equation altogether. If previous Mon-el contributions are necessary to the DCU's continuity, he could have a handful of extra-phantom zone excursions, ended by lead scares.

Hey- maybe he could romance *Phantom* Girl this time around. Hmmmm.

Rokynites are mentioned in passing. Pre-Crisis, Rokyn was a planet settled by the rebigified inhabitants of Kandor. IIRC no Legion story ever depicted them in the 30th century though fanfic writer Darkmark did use them.

Actually, this could work out well without necessarily having a "new" Mon-El. This person could be a descendent of Valor *or* he could be Valor pretending to be his own descendent. We'd never be sure of the truth, but if DC decided to do something stupid like kill Valor off, the Legion is shielded.
