I have read a lot of stuff here that basically didn't like what you have done since the start of the latest, Legion #1.

And while i will say that not everything was too my taste, i thought you had a solid run. Overall grade, B-. Given that you have gone after some of the greatest writers and written stories in comics history, that ain't bad.

But what i really wanted to thank you for was what you did at the beginning, and at the end.

First, you saved the Legion. The book was quickly headed for the chopping block. You came in with a fresh take, and while not everyone loved it, you did what was needed. You saved the legion.

Second, your last story didn't have some "dramatic lasting repercussions" that some other team would have to try and smooth over. You left enough subplots that a new team can come in and do something with, one or two that must have something done with, but nothing that cant be worked out pretty easily.

You respected the book, the fans, yourselves, and the medium. Cheers to you, and i hope to see what you do and where you land after this.

Good luck.

Thank *you* Rick for starting this thread. I'm aware that not everyone's as devoted a fan as I am, but their contributions deserve to be acknowledged, especially now.

I'll always be grateful to DnA for bringing me back to the Legion and restoring some of my fondest memories of the Silver Age. For that, and some whopping good stories, too. I'm re-reading their run from top to bottom now, as if it were a novel, and I'm enjoying it even more than before.

If it weren't for DnA, I wouldn't have become a Legion fan, so I owe them a huge debt of gratitude! smile

DnA also brought me back to the Legion after "Archie Legion" left me cold. They reinvigorated the title, maybe even saved it. Despite the criticism of their last few arcs, I think their place in Legion history is assured -- and imo it's a good one.

I came back to the Legion just before DnA took over, but from what I've seen from back issues, I probably wouldn't have stayed if not for them.

I stopped reading the Legion because of DnA's terrible writing. I couldn't believe how little they understood the concepts that made the Legion great.

The only reason I started reading again was because I heard a rumor they were leaving. Praise Allah.

Thanks for the input Proty II, though you seemed to have missed the "spirit" (not too mention the title) of the thread.

My thanks to DnA for adding an operetic feel, great battle repartee and bringing Legion back to an adult level. According to our survey, many of the characters were better off for your writing and I agree.

ps. Please tell Waid/Kitson that those weren't McCauley's glasses? smile

Not at all. I thank DnA for saving me at least $100 for all the issues of Legion they wrote that I didn't have to buy.

And while I'm at it, a big round of thanks to Coipel, too. Though as bad as his art was, it was the writing that drove me away.

I have to thank DNA for Wildfire, Shikari, Timber Wolf, Dreamer and even for Chuck Taine and Gear, and also for bringing my interest in the Legion to a whole new level.

Thanks to DnA for ending a run of bad Legion stories and making this title great again. Despite any ups and downs, there is no doubt that when Legion Lost #1 came out, I was 100 times more excited than when the Legion had another beach issue and the story focused on Kinextz find a new bathing suit.

And thanks for Wildifre, and for bringing him back without mentioning that horrible reboot origin.

I'll second that! The new origin could've easily lead to some really bad two-personality Wildfire stories. Thank goodness DnA were fans of the old Drake!

i have to say, i pretty much enjoyed all of DnA's Legion issues !!! along with OLIVIER COIPEL, they made me excited over the Legion again !!! [ almost as much as those highlight 80's years, for me !!! ]

their only weakness [ for me ] was that some of those longer acts, went on a little too long !!! and also some story elements were never followed up on ......

cheer's Dan and Andy !!!! good luck in the future !!!!

Matthew.

DnA brought me back as well.

yes, it was a different take than many others have done - yet it was very true to what the Legion is all about.

They weren't always as character-oriented at Levitz was, but what we got worked, and worked well.

They weaved in brilliant science fiction elements much better thought-out than many other writers have done.

Their action stories [usually] paid off, as well - and the action kept coming. the pace was invigorating.

And combined, these aspects added up to more than the sum of the parts. They weaved some true magic.

Thanks guys

A nice thread. Thanks DnA for testing our heroes mettle thru some horrific situations...the Blight; being Lost; the Progeny; Saturn Girl's id; the Progenitor; being disbanded; Ra's Al Ghul; Computo; Universo; Darkseid; The Credo. You gave the Legion respect among fanboys by giving them tough adversaries to overcome. Thanks for Shikari, and Timber Wolf. Thanks for fleshing out Gear, Wildfire, Kid Quantum, Umbra, and Monstress. Thanks for listening to the fans dislike about Sensor the snake, Monstress, and Wildfire's re-boot origin.

Oh, and I've just got to add this.

Thanks for expanding many of the characters' personalities more, and not having everybody be so nice all the time.

hanks for making me like characters like Chameleon, Umbra, Star Boy, M'Onel, Kid Quantum, Dreamer, Spark, Gear, Monstress, Sensor. Even though Kinetix, Element Lad, Live Wire may have suffered, at least you did more good than harm in the end.

DnA brought me to the Legion. They held my interest in comics when I was stating to wonder. It's been a fun run, and I'm glad I got into it.

Thanks, guys!

Just spouting off.

I believe history will look favorably upon DnA's run, despite expressions of relief that they are leaving the title (relief I have expressed myself even).

Points in their favor:

a) LEGION LOST saved the title from near-assured cancellation.

b) Bringing in new artistic talent such as OLIVIER COIPEL, who brought a look to the Legion its never had before (read: IMAGE-style splash but with substance). Not to mention the plethora of talent that adorned LEGION WORLDS.

c) Who can forget the first few issues of the current THE LEGION series? One cliffhanger ending after another... I quite remember that just about everyone was blown away by those first 6, 7, 8 issues.

d) THE LEGION 31, a comedic issue with LSH legend Keith Giffen, which marked a favorable turnaround for me, a nice way to begin the end of DnA's stories.

While its true I am ready for something different and have been for probably a year, I will never deny DnA's place in the Hall of Unforgettable Legion Creators!

I think DnA should be thanked for at least trying to fix many of the things that were wrong with the previous creative team's run.

They'll most likely be remembered for their one really classic Legion story (Legion Lost), and for their one original Legionnaire (Shikari).

The idea of 'The Second Galaxy' may survive them for the long term as well.

Overall, while hardly in the top tier of Legion creators, I think their place in the second-tier is firmly secured.

Another hearty thank you to DnA! While lately I haven't been biting my nails in anticipation for the next issue, they've hardly been horrible. In fact, it was DnA's work on the title (especially Legion Lost and the start of the new Legion series) which was almost the only time I couldn't wait for the next issue of the Legion in my short (8 years) of reading!

As others have said, they definitely rejuvinated the title. I know it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but I appreciate the attempt, gamble, and hopefully pay-off with the launched 'The Legion' title. I'm also greatful for the introduction of Shikari and Timber Wolf, and the work they put in on Dreamer, Wildfire, Monstress, and many others!

They had a great spark and took a huge risk at the beginning of the work...and even if that spark has faded a little, it's definitely brought in some new fans and set up a deep canvas for the next team. I'm glad it was lit, looking back now.

I'm ashamed to say that I *am* ready to move on to another writing team, due to my love for Gail Simone and Mark Waid. However, that doesn't mean I don't appreciate Dan and Andy for their work. Thank you, thank you.
