"Canada's first national award recognizing outstanding achievements by Canadian creators in the creation and publication of comic books and graphic novels returns in 2007 for it’s third year: the JOE SHUSTER CANADIAN COMIC BOOK CREATOR AWARDS, named after pioneering Toronto-born artist Joe Shuster who, along with writer Jerry Siegel, created the iconic super-powered hero, Superman.

From coast to coast, Canada is home to many of the comic book industry's top talents. The JOE SHUSTER AWARDS are a way of recognizing and celebrating the achievements of Canadian creators - past, present and future."

Hey fellow Canadians, check out the nominees at www.joeshusterawards.com and vote if you feel so inclined!

My good friend Doug Wheatley is nominated in the best artist category, for his work on Star Wars Dark Times, which I am priveleged to color!

Haha I just realized most of Brian K Vaughan's comics last year were drawn by Canadians...

Very hard choices in some categories this year.

NB: Non-Canadians can vote for their <strike>favourite</strike> favorite Canadian comic book creator (Darwyn, anyone?) in English or French.

Haha! Thank you Vee, but colorists are often still considered very low on the creator totem pole, right above the letterer and the guy who puts in the staples!

It would be nice if they included the category, but it wouldn't go to me. Canada is a hot bed of talented colorists; I know at least half a dozen in my town alone!

There SHOULD be an award for the staple guy.

No doubt a tedious just get it done job until Playboy came along but then... Wow!... Most definitely underrecognized.

I've quite a collection you know. Of staples that is.
