I really enjoyed the first issue and looking forward to how this turns out.
It moved really well and the art is good too.

I was a fan to the Adrian Chase character and was shocked how that ended. I am glad DC is exploring the possibilities...anyone can be a Vigilante.

Looking for Earth Prime.

Vigilante might've been my first regular DC title. I remember it being quite racy back in the day -- it might've been the first title I saw with a parental advisory.

I've been wanting to check out the new version - thanks for letting me know it's out. I'll be back with reactions when I get it...

Finally got around to getting the first issue. Pretty good start so far - I like the art, the characters that are introduced and the notion that he's more a serial killer than a Punisher type. I also like the new design. Definitely a more real-world approach - no secret society of monks or suped-up motorcycle this time around. I like how they're building the mystery of who the new Vigilante is so I'll stick around to see where it goes.

Anyone reading this? I still like where it's going. The mystery of the Vigilante deepens and there are several hints that maybe the Doc is a split personality who only thinks he's being visited by the Vigilante (hence V's stealth and extensive knowledge). And V still just looks cool.

I ordered the first issue but haven't read it yet. Isn't it only planned to be a four part mini?

Six part, I think.

And I've read the first two parts too -- I think they're good so far. It's kind of fun and really interesting... I'm enjoying it immensely.

A ha! Well, it wasn't quite the "Sixth Sense" shocker, but I still like the exploration of his origin with his dead brother now thrown into the mix. The art is very Pacheco-like, but with less details. I hope he doesn't bite it in the end. I'd love to see him still roaming around the DCU one year later. I also like that there's no need to build him up with super fighting abilities of some kind being in the DCU. His vulnerability makes him appealing to me.

It's interesting that this was originally meant as a companion to "The Question" if only because in that book, Superman was a huge Big Brother type presense in the city, letting The Question know that he's keeping an eye on him and that he won't tolerate killing in his city. Yet, there's the Vigilante...

*******Spoilers for #6*********
I was a bit underwhelmed by the ending. I thought it would've been more interesting if he had actually killed his girfriend since she was in the way of the Vigilante's work - that would've been more in keeping with the darker tone of this book. The fact that he might be "cured" by the end is less interesting to me.

I also thought there'd be a "bigger" finish. It seemed to me they were building on V's growing notoriety to create a more spectacular climax, but there wasn't much beyond people getting thrown out windows. The fact that it happened twice almost made it a bit cartoony.

Anybody pick up the latest Nightwing? There's a new Vigilante in town ... or is it the old one?? (and by "old" I mean, the "new" one from the mini) Very curious... I like the homage to the old Adrian Chase suit since I was a big fan of that series. It's exciting that Wolfman is bringing back a character he re-created waaaaay back in the day. I hope it's the V from the mini, with a year's worth of experience under his belt. He certainly seems formidable against Nightwing.

And who was this "JJ" person Nightwing was referring to? Is that the same supporting character from the "Vigilante" series that was (supposedly) killed? (the guy with the mustache)

Woohoo! New Wolfman VIGILANTE series in \'08!

Though we don't know too much about him at this point, he's coming across pretty well in Nightwing and obviously Wolfman wants him to look good in this appearance. The possible connection to Adrian Chase is interesting, and I wish I could remember more from those days as it wouldn't surprise me if it's someone Wolfman introduced twenty years ago or something.

One thing we do know (from the article) is that Click Here For A Spoilerthis ISN"T the V that was in the recent mini

CBR article about the new "V" series

Who could the "traitor" be? It sounds like they're motivated by profit, so that narrows the field a bit - which hero could be swayed by money? (I hope it's not someone lame like Bork (no offense Bork fans))

I have been doing some investigating through the DC Wiki and Encyclopedia....I make the list of suspects who could be a traitor:

Red Arrow (connection to Cheshire)
Miss Martian (who knows? sometimes Innocent and quiet can turn out to be a traitor...?)

Major Disaster (too bad he's deceased)
Ravager
one of the Checkmate - Count Vertigo, Thinker
Amanda Waller
Bronze Tiger
Catman
Black Lightning
Risk
Batgirl

any more suspects?

Maybe Wolfman is going to mine old territory and make it one of the Titans -- isn't there a new Terra walking around? I'd almost suspect Geo-Force, but he's already got the "undercover traitor" story with Deathstroke in JLA.

Plastic Man? That'd be interesting...(or should I say "That'd make him interesting")

If the Vigilante ever finds out who the traitor is....does that make him the greatest detective than Batman and Nightwing? Do you all think that Nightwing, Robin, and Batman will guest star in his book? I sure think so.

come to think that I would like to add Red Tornado to the suspects list since I keep thinking that Red T was created by Ivo and it is possible that Ivo might have put some spy capsule or camera inside Red T's body that Red T may not be aware of it???

Who's Ravager?

I certainly hope that the traitor turns out to be someone surprising, not someone who's already considered borderline. (that said, I also hope that the revelation makes sense and isn't just a matter or making someone a bad guy solely for shock value)

Hey, where's Jack Knight been lately anyway?? wink (no I doubt it's him. I still like my Plastic Man guess, despite the odds being very much against it)

Ravager, the estranged daughter of Terminator....now a member of Titans.

Jack Knight - I doubt it somehow since he has a descendent who will become bad - Farris Knight. so I d cross him out from the list.

I know this ties into that "DCU Decisions" mini, but I didn't read it. Does anyone know what the deal was with the election?

now makes me wonder how many traitors does the Titan actually have? Recently Jericho was a bad guy in the mini-series - Decisions. Now this? who? raven? too obvious. Changeling? maybe. Red Arrow? due to his background in CIA, maybe. Nightwing, too obvious for a reverse psychology. Wonder Girl Donna Troy? supposed to stay dead forever and someone impersonates her? geez...poor Titans - too many deaths and too many traitors. frown

Anyone read the first issue?

Random thoughts:
- Nothing against Leonardi, but I don't think his style works for this book. I also really don't like how he draws Vig - especially the helmet!
- I'm surprised that Vig's identity isn't more interesting. It seemed like some kind of secret when he was in "Nightwing", but here it's like, "Oh, he's some guy." Maybe there will be more later, but at this point, I'm wishing he was the guy from the "Vigilante" mini. I also wish he didn't look so much like Frank Castle.
- Speaking of, I wonder when we'll get an origin story about the new Vig. It seems necessary for us to care about him.
- The thing I do find interesting is the fact that he's undercover as a goon. I hope Wolfman is up to the task of presenting this (under)world, because the premise is intriguing. (although I think he needs a better excuse than, "Oh, I just happened to have to go to the can two seconds before the Vigilante showed up." )

So, we have our Nightwing guest appearance to lead us into the big Titans crossover. It reminded me a lot of 90's interaction between Daredevil and The Punisher, where Punisher would talk down to DD and DD wouldn't seem as effective as Punisher becuase he wasn't as ruthless.

Leonardi's style and depiction of Vigilante is starting to bother me. It just seems so hum-drum compared to how he's been depicted before and even on the covers. (except the current one) I think this book needs someone more realistic and who can convey a darker tone.
