When I first learned to drive, I was really excited.
After a couple of years, I started hating it.
I'd rather sit in a train and relax.

Hey, at least you *passed* your driving test. After three or four tries, I threw in the towel. I'm not one of these "mature" people who constantly blames her folks for everything wrong now. But JFC I should *never* have accepted my Mom's offer to help me learn to drive. She'd freak out in the car and yell. No wonder I never got over my driving-related nerves.

I'd rather sit in a train and relax. I'm so ready for self-driving cars. I have the thought all the time that I wish I could just press a button and have the car take me home.

Would your car talk to you, like KITT from Knight Rider? By the way, Knight Rider has a couple of Transformers six degrees connections: Peter "Optimus Prime" Cullen did the voice of KITT's nemesis, KARR; also, Knight Rider premiered in 1982, so I don't think it's any coincidence that both KITT and Tracks (from the 1985 season of Transformers) both talk in parodies of upper-crust American accents (Mike McConnohie, Tracks' voice actor, claims that recording director Wally Burr told him to imitate Jim Backus as Thurston Howell III from Gilligan's Island.)
Still "Fickles" to my friends.

The problem with self-driving cars is that humans still have to design and program them. o_0

I always thought the approach shown in "Minority Report" would be the way to move forward - in an urban area, there is a separate set of roads for autonomous driving, but the driver has control everywhere else, so a more hybrid approach.

I can pretty much get everywhere I need using public transport. I live in a central part of a town, so everything is close by.

Our bus and rail service isn't perfect, but it could definitely be worse.
My job offered to sell me a flat-rate monthly travel pass, but it's for a full-time schedule and I only work part-time. So it really doesn't pay to have it. Too bad. It's about the only benefit I qualify for with my scanty amount of weekly hours.

Public transport can be expensive! It’s based on distance here in the Netherlands … unlike the paris metro, where any entry/exit costs the same

It's expensive here too. I walk when I can.

Off with the winter wardrobe here in the last few days. Unfortunately, one of the layers turns out to be extra weight put on recently. I shall be looking out a variety of thing to put on my device to listen to for walks.

I vow to take a celebratory walk once this thread reaches its 200th page. Even if it rains.

mr_cleome used to have a really handsome souvenir umbrella from his old university. It was the standard black on the outside, but the inside was printed to look like stained glass. When the sky lightened the colors would appear to change as if they really were glass.

"Paraguas" is Spanish for "umbrella." But when translated literally, it means "for waters."

Paraguay ended up being the place where a Z-List Doom Patrol villain from the Silver Age was transformed into the memorable Mr. Nobody.

I'm not calling anyone piloting a giant red robot z-list. I shall instead invite them to Japan, where there is a long literary history of defeating giant robots and critters.
Coming soon: Rog vs Gojira vs Science Ninja Team Gatchaman!

From the chaos of Azathoth's singularity, through the depths of Gojira's atomic lair to the many reality gateways of Yog Sothoth, the monsters of our worlds whisper their fear concerning the residents of Cat Island.
