Welcome to......
Kill This Thread XXXVI
The following rules were established by Kent Shakespeare at the start of the first 24-hour version, adapted from the original rules by EDE:
The rules:
1. The Basic Idea: Post to this thread, if no one posts after you for 24 hours, you win!
2. Posts that are not direct responses to one of the five preceding posts are ineligible to win. The topic can drift, but no complete non-sequitors. Posts that are responses to non-sequitors are also ineligible to win. Posts that are responses to responses to non-sequitors, and response nses to those posts, etc., become eligible, however.
3. In the event that this thread is locked, there shall be no winner unless a new thread is started for the contest. Furthermore, any post that results in the banning of the poster shall also be ineligible to win.
4. So, more precisely, one wins if one makes a post, and then no one makes another post that's eligible to win for 24 hours.
Here's a history of our various felons, along with a few missed opportunities.....

None seems to be a frequent winner yet I never see her post...

Not exactly frequent. This is the first no-winner since 2019.
(This has something to do with envelopes somehow, but I haven't yet worked out the details.)

The original idea of the game was that none was supposed to always win. And yet walkwithcrowds somehow managed to win the first game!

It's a good thread for random chit chat with LW pals. Much less about the winning of it. Actually... quick check to see if my name's on the list. Oh, it is.

Well, that was a key plot element in one of the bleaker *Seinfeld* episodes. Re-watching these now, I really really really hate George. All of the male leads (and some supporting dudes) should've been a warning to modern-day incels. Instead, they're how-to guides. But none more so than him.

Ah, incels... instead of improving themselves, they extend their hate to others PS, I do think it's a good thing none keeps winning... means we have more activity here

I'd only heard the term in the last few years, and was surprised at how old it was. It seems there's no shortage of hate riddled communities on and offline.
All the more reason to enjoy Legion World; a little oasis of nifty keenness in an often unpleasant universe.

As I get older, I find bouts of meanness really cut into my nap time in a big way. (Also, 35 is my lucky number which is probably why the thread lived.)

There was a lot of redevelopment a few decades ago in the town I live in. I tell people that it's feng shui is out of kilter as a result. The redevelopment doesn't quite follow the trandtional, natural lines of what was there before. I just get looked at, even when I'm showing examples and reasons why.

Passover's only a couple of week's away. Mom's birthday is the week after that. I should call her soon. So long as we stay away from politics we should be fine.

With my parents...we're actually on the same page about most things. I realize I'm very lucky that way, and I no longer take it for granted.
If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be alive today.

If it wasn't for my folks, another couple would have found me under that gooseberry bush.

Charles Schulz originally wanted "Peanuts" to be titled "Li'l Folks," but there were potential copyright issues.

Newspaper rep: They won't let you use li'l folk, Mr Schulz. Mr Schulz: Ah, nuts to 'em...hey, wait a minute...
And the rest is sequential art...

Schulz looked like an easygoing Midwestern greengrocer, but in reality, he was a very frustrated and competitive man with a sarcastic streak. Of course, that doesn't make him any less of a genius, nor does it make Peanuts any less delightful.

I wonder how much of that frustration manifested itself in Charlie Brown, and how much of that frustration and sarcasm manifested in Lucy

From what I understand, a lot of Lucy was based on his first wife, though they called his daughter Meredith a fussbudget, which contributed to the character.
I've always related best to Charlie Brown, Linus, and Schroeder. It's interesting that the three primary human male characters are also the most sensitive.
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."
