Not as such, no...
I guess the best clue that I could provide is that the particular function is shown much more than talked about, but mainly in the first year of the run.

Aha! I was really stumped and then suddenly remembered - clothing/uniform change! A number of times Legionnaires are shown changing into or out of uniform to civvies by using their rings (or was it putting them on and taking them off).

That's it! The ring, when worn, also provides their uniform - a function that did NOT occur as part of the Shooter run!
Stile has the ball!

Great trivia question GL. One of those things that was so apparent yet can easily slip the mind.
I will think on the next question.

The anti-gravity element used by legionnaires to fly is known to have been created by Mon-El during his secret tryout in the original Legion, through a lab accident by Brainiac 5 in the Reboot, and as Valorium by Brainiac 5 in the Threeboot. Yet there is another version/timeline where the ant-gravity element is created/discovered by two other characters. Which ones?

Saturn Girl Hawkman's nth metal that they just pinch. Did this happen or just a guess? I think Threeboot mentions Nth metal. Not what I am thinking of. Edit: There may be more that I missed. I just thought of another case that would work as well. Let's see how many we can come up with.

I just thought of another case that would work as well. Let's see how many we can come up with. I recall references to nth metal. So they've not done much from Hawkman's equipment to their flight ring. I was thinking of MonEls serum when I thought of Saturn Girl. But I think MonEl had something to do with the original flight rings.

Maybe Superboy and RJ Brande? Not Superboy that I remember but RJ Brande was one of the two in the second answer I thought of after the original question. Who did he work with? Saturn Girl Hawkman's nth metal that they just pinch. Did this happen or just a guess? I think Threeboot mentions Nth metal. Not what I am thinking of. Edit: There may be more that I missed. I just thought of another case that would work as well. Let's see how many we can come up with. I recall references to nth metal. So they've not done much from Hawkman's equipment to their flight ring. I was thinking of MonEls serum when I thought of Saturn Girl. But I think MonEl had something to do with the original flight rings. Mon-El created the new element No. 152 in Adventure Comics #305 during his tryout as Marvel Lad and it was stated in alter comic that Brainiac 5 used this in the creation of the flight rings. What I am thinking of actually predates this in publication. Also read my question very carefully to avoid any unnecessary assumptions. The anti-gravity element used by legionnaires to fly is known to have been created by Mon-El during his secret tryout in the original Legion, through a lab accident by Brainiac 5 in the Reboot, and as Valorium by Brainiac 5 in the Threeboot. Re Rj, i wonder if that came from the Superboy’s Legion story. But I’ll be d*mned (heh) if I can remember who he worked with… For this later answer I thought of the story from Legionnaires Annual #1, the Camelot setting, where RJ takes Rokk to the ruins of Thanagar to extract Nth Metal that they use in flight rings and establishing their Arthurian Legion as a beacon of hope. My original question relates to a story very early in the Legion's publication, one which is famous (or is that infamous) for an entirely different reason.

Not Lex. Additional clue - I never actually said the element was used in flight rings, and the timeline is one of the adult Legion versions.

Not Brainiac 5 nor Cosmic King.
Further hint: this happened in a fairly well known Supergirl story from Action Comics.
