Hiding: Lex Luthor?

Wants them: Superman?

Hiding them: Another magical threat to the Els - Captain Marvel?

Wanting them: Hard to go against Ibby's guesses, but I'll switch Luthor to be the one wanting them, in order to topple the Els.

Luthor is not hiding them nor seeking them. In this tale he was an advisor to the Waynes (the previous King and Queen before Jor-El and Lara) but was exiled after the Els saved the Kingdom and showed how Luthor had ignored their warnings of impending doom. Luthor stumbled upon something glowing green which turned out not to be Kyptonite but a cursed Earth-3 type lantern ring which empowered him but also scarred him and rove him mad making him a kind of flying powerful Joker figure.

Kal-El grew up with Bruce but is currently battling grief while coping with the imminent war so not part of this search.

I don't think we have seen any of the Captain Marvel characters so far - although one of those involved does transform through speech.

In the alternate/imaginary/could-have-been story Dark Knights of Steel several somewhat familiar characters are kept imprisoned in dungeons as illegal magical creatures by the family of El. A small number that we would recognise as analogues of the Titans have instead been kept hidden and raised by some other familiar characters but their location has recently come to light.

Who has been hiding the Titans and who now knows there location and wants them?

Not Bruce, Diana, Kal-El, Lex, or any Shazam related character.

Hiding: Aquaman

Wants them: hmmmm Zod?

Hiding: Green Arrow, channelling some Robin Hood
Seeking: The shape changing wanderer, able to blend into any medieval town, the Martian Manhunter.

Aquaman gets a mention as someone who was previously hidden and helped.
No mention of Zod - so far.
Oliver is one of the unfortunates jailed in the Els dungeons so not hiding and not seeking.
Martian Manhunter has just been revealed in the latest issue as a rather surprising regular character but is not involved with the hiding or seeking.

A couple of hints. Those doing the hiding are 2 rather well known characters who it makes perfect sense to be ones who help those with powers. The one seeking has powers that are speech activated although slightly different to the main universe. Neither are typical for Titans stories.

The Kent's are hiding and Zatanna is seeking?

Score 1 for Thoth! The Kents are indeed the ones who are hiding powered individuals and keeping them safe.

Zatanna is a good guess from my "speech" clue for the one seeking them but is not correct. She has as yset made no appearance in the story.

Additional clue: the one seeking the Titans could be considered two characters.

Zan and Jayna, the Wonder Twins?

bah, I've already guessed a Marvel. Hmmmm...

What about Johnny Thunder? Able to blend in most of the time, but might be able to change into the thunderbolt here, as you siaid it was working slightly differently.

Not Zan and Jayna. Not Johnny Thunder although getting closer in terms of using speech to bring forth the other character.

What about Doctor Occult? He transforms in a magical setting, but could be undetected otherwise. May need to change his surname, which is a bit of a giveaway to the authorities.

Not Doctor Occult. One of the two characters often makes appearances in the DCU especially when magic is involved. The other half is different to the usual other half.

(That seems like a very useless clue.)

Lets try again. The character seeking is actually two characters that use Speech to make the change and are associated with magic. However the pair are not quite the same pair as is usual in the DCU. One of the pair is another character with appropriate associations with Bruce.

ooh I got it - the Kents and Jason Blood/Etrigan?

raz is correct with Etrigan. However in a surprise his human half/guardian is not Jason Blood but a character more associated with Batman.

We have the Kents hiding the Titans (from Thoth) and half of the one seeking them being Etrigan (raz) but which famous/infamous Batman character is the other half (not Jason Blood)?

No sign of Harvey Dent so far. The Joker is actually Alexander Luthor, former advisor to the Wayne's Kingdom and now empowered by the Ring of Volthoom, but is not the one hunting the Titans.

Spectre?
