I do wish PL had confirmed that Glorith was a de-splorped version of the original, however.
I found it interesting that she was a spellcaster type, but also seemed to specialize in magic related in some way to time, perhaps a nod to the classic Glorith?
I'm still kind of irked that the v7 recruits joined over so many established Academy students.
I liked some of the new characters, although I do wish that Variable Lad got a bigger showing. (He was literally shown using his power to turn into a gaseous form, an issue or two before he was 'killed' by being... turned into a gaseous form? Weird. I kept waiting for him to come back!)
But I totally agree, that Nightwind at the very least should have been promoted up along with 'became a Legionnaire while you weren't looking' characters like Night Girl and Chameleon Girl (and maybe Infectious Lass, who was suggested to be a Legionnaire in her appearance in the past?).
