Perhaps some sort of event might call upon the various magical heroes of the Legion-verse to band together to address something that's either specifically a threat or corruption to magic or magical folk (hopefully not the Guardians of Oa deciding that magic is bad and must be sealed away again, 'cause that well's been tapped already), or something that standard alien / metahuman powers, and science & technology are ill-equipped to address (or are affected by, like some magical Mordru spell that causes tech to break down?).

Legionnaires who are explicit spellcasters, from the various continuities include White Witch, Glorith II, Dragonmage and Dr. Fate. Other Legionnaires have a magical power-source / origin, like Shadow Lass and Princess Projectra / Sensor Girl. And then there are the random other heroes of the setting, like the Wanderers, Heroes of Lallor, Subs, etc. most of whom are standard metahumans, save for, IIRC, independent heroine Silver Sword, and Academy student Westerner. (And maybe Nightwind?)

A few other Legionnaires, while not magic casters or magically sourced, at least feel 'on theme' for a magical mystery team, at least as much as folks like Dr. Chimp. I could see Karate Kid, Dream Girl or Phantom Girl on such a team, even if they aren't typically associated with magic.

Certainly the Legion-verse could use a few more magical dudes! Perhaps that Khund magical student, Harlack (and his pixie friend / familiar?), shown being friends with Glorith back on Sorcerer's World, before she was sent to join the Legion?

I like this idea! I would go with:

White Witch
Glorith
Dragonmage
Dr Fate
Sensor Girl
Shadow Lass
Dream Girl
Westerner
Harlack
Blok (because of his connection to Mysa, but also the talking to rocks might come in handy in a setting with mystical beings)
Quanto from that Taurus Gang story - he looked kinda pixie-like, I could see his people being some kind of light elementals or something like that
Mystelor from the same story - Quanto had some weird white saviour thing going on with her, so they could be the resident creepy couple
Harmonia Li
Dawnstar - not a magic user but I think she fits in about as well as Shady or Nura
Wildfire - wild card, but I kind of like the idea of having someone whose whole identity is grounded in super-science on a magic team
A Durlan mage just because I think he could do some really trippy stuff
...and maybe a descendant of either Zatanna or Traci 13, but not both because then we're getting too much into the legacy hero thing which the Legion doesn't need

EDIT: I was gonna say maybe we could add a Somahturian necromancer who can make his own zombies, but that doesn't sound like a very heroic power tbh laugh

Oh, this is interesting. I think I'd want to keep the team relatively small so:

Sensor Girl as team leader, and the "detective" role with her funky senses
Karate Kid, but is it really Val or an illusion?
Thunder, as she's very smart and very strong
Dragonmage as, well, Dragons and Magic - both are cool!
Glorith as she has a mysterious past that needs mining as well as a weird power set
And finally, Ferro, as his iron form would give him immunity to a lot of enchantments, and he could be the POV character.

Others could drop in as needed, but essentially, this would be the core group.

Legion Worlds NINE - wait, there's even more ongoing amazing adventures? Yup, and you'll only find them in the Bits o' Legionnaire Business Forum.

Maybe More Multiversal Magical Members?:

Zoe Saugin (and possibly her brother Thanat?)
Aria Campbell
Brin Londo in his (restored) Furball form (as a monster, not necessarily magical)
Soultaker
Monster Boy
¿Gold Lantern?
[Linked Image from 64.media.tumblr.com]
and the decidedly non-magical, but magic-adjacent Antonio Stefanacci

Just some suggestions.

So I like some additions from everyone! Quanto and Mystelor, Ferro Lad as the 'magic immune guy' that they chuck like a bullet at 'impenetrable magic shields' and stuff, and Antonio Stefanacci as the 'Constantine' barely-a-magician-but-useful-purveyor-of-arcane-lore. But I also like Harby's idea of keeping the group not quite so 'Legion-y,' and more Shadowpact-y with less than a dozen members.

From my own suggestions, I'd want to keep Sensor Girl, Glorith (II), Westerner and Silver Sword, because those are some people we haven't seen as much of, or, in Jeckie's case, not the obvious 'White Witch as main mage' well to tap, which interests me. (Maybe whatever mystical threat has appeared has taken the *obvious* threat, White Witch, off the board somehow? I just don't want Mysa to be 'Scarlet Witched' and turned into the adversary that our Shadowpact Legion has to fight!)

So,
Sensor Girl
Glorith !!
Westerner
Silver Sword
Quanto
Mystelor
Ferro (Lad)
Antonio Steffanacci, trying his best to not be *too obviously* totally over his head and out of his depth!

To sort of extra-justify Quanto and Mystelor showing up, the magical whatsis will be extradimensional, and perhaps tied somehow to his specific otherdimensional realm.

So what could be the threat that brings Shadowpact together?

There is always Mordru. There is the entire Sorcerer’s World available from which to create a team of sorcerous villains. There are a number of evil immortals we are familiar with from the 21st century: Morgaine le Fay, Circe, Wotan, Tannarack, Vandal Savage, Kru’ll, and the Black Adam family, for instance.

But my favorite idea is Etrigan. Released from bondage to Jason Blood, the demon has somehow corrupted another group of presumptive immortal magicians:
The Phantom Stranger
Madame Xanadu
Nabu
Shazam, (or whatever his name is now (formerly Billy Batson))
Mary Marvel, (or whatever her name is now (formerly Mary Batson / Bromfield))
and just for kicks, Biron the Centaur, formerly Comet the Super-Horse.

Trapped for a Millennium, Flaw and Child shatter their crystalline jailer, emerging into a technological future.
The science of the United Planets falls as magic once more shapes the cosmos.
On now isolated worlds societies slide backwards.

In only a few years heroes become legends, as the people wait to be saved. The reality behind such hope, is a loose confederation of magically aligned heroes. Working in secret, away from the scrying eyes of dark forces that control worlds, The Shadowpact is formed.

Shadow Lass - Guardian of the sacred shadows of Talok. The leader.
Blue Devil - Freed from his imprisonment on Kol, by Dawnstar. The inspiration of a lost age.
Dawnstar - Tracker of magical forces across the galaxy
Lady Caliburn - Devout Trebia Rijleigh is bestowed a more mystical sword than in her time as Silver Sword.
Beppo - The former super-pet and part of Child's court on Earth,. An agent in a world of chimerae and familiars.
Emerald Empress - Princess Projectra sacrifices herself to become the new host of the Eye of Ekron.
Kid Eternity - A living reliquary of souls, who he can tap the powers of.
Phantom Girl - Trapped in the buffer zone, Tinya now haunts the United Planets.

The above also include nods to the Shadowpact members Nightshade, Nightmaster, Enchantress, Ragman, Blue Devil and Detective Chimp. But with plenty of potential of their own.

The shards of Amethyst will endow powers to those in posession of them.
Fate - Science Sorcerer Dirk Morgna is the only man with energy to power the helm of Nabu and live. But is he still a hero?

Like Set and Harbi, Andrew Nolan crossed my mind for the same reasons, before I had my start time. Likewise, Klar with Antonio Steffanacci, who I saw as a new Matter Master, with the Mentachem wand, before his fall to dark forces. Biron the Bowman would be back too.

The Mordruverse would be another starting point for a Shaadowpact. In the normal timeline, Rond could find an emerald artefact, to become Starheart, using it's energies to contact others. Mysa, Douglas Nolan, Foxmoor would join.

Okay this is my favourite group so far!

Anything Super-Pet adjacent gets my vote, I really like Jeckie getting the Emerald Eye (or one of them at least...), Kid Eternity is an awesome choice and Tinya being more phantom than girl is an interesting take!

I also love Harbinger's idea of Ferro as the kind of anti-magic POV character (which is kinda what I was going for with Wildfire, but Ferro fits that role way better actually!)

...and Klar mentioning Shazam made me realise I completely forgot about Thunder! I would wanna throw her in there somewhere as well! Aria was a good throwback too, she'd be cool to pop up occasionally!

Love Klar's ideas of Monster Boy being on the team, especially as there's a mystery around his powers - didn't he say he's not a Shape changer? Also, Antonio Stefannacci as a kind of back-room guy who could research the mysteries.

And Kid Eternity would be a great addition too, as Thoth suggested.

I was wondering if a Sub could be involved and had two ideas that are kinda stolen from Raz's fanfic-

Fire Lad, as the meteorite that gave him his powers was actually part of the remains of a fire elemental and its slowly growing inside him... will he become the new Firestorm?

Or Chlorophyll Kid, as the new avatar of the Green.

Another one is what if Lydda's darkness based powers are because her father used a dark magic talisman to power the ray that changed her? She's slowly being corrupted by it and needs the team's help to figure it out.

See, now I want to extend this to the others!

Stone Boy, able to (slowly) move in stone form because of a burgeoning mystical connection to the element of Earth!

Color Kid, possessed by an alien interpretation of a 'rainbow spirit' like Damballah or Aiyida-Wedo, able to only generate the colored light, at first, but also able to enter a trance state where he channels other spiritual entities (glowing a different color when he channels different entities).

This is what the aftermath of the Magic Wars could have been: the magic never goes away, and the Legionnaire's powers gradually evolve into parallel magical abilities.
Lar Gand becomes Mon-El when he shouts his magic word, "DAXAM"!

Lots of cool ideas in this thread, but how is it on Page 2 with no mention of Kinetix?

Ugh. I don't know how many times I looked over the thread looking for "Kinetix:, and totally missed her under her real name!

Bah! I blame Geoff Johns for distracting me with the return of a super-cool character!

Sort of a version of one of those Avengers stories where Kulan Gath or Morgana le Fay turn the entire world into a magical fantasy kingdom, with everyone's powers based around monsters & magic.

Karate Kid channels the spirits of every martial arts master that ever lived. Blok is a stone golem, animated and given sapience by the White Witch. Sun Boy channels the alchemical sign of fire, but is far more of a specialist than Element Lad, who has reached the pinnacle of alchemy, the philosopher's stone, mastery of transmutation! Brainy is a mystical repository of arcane lore, not himself a spellcaster of note, but with an encyclopedic knowledge of the supernatural and able to speak in the voices of mages long dead. Wildfire is the avatar of destruction, bound to this earth only by armor bearing certain mystical runes. That could be fun.
