Legion World Forums LEGION OUTPOST Bits o' Legionnaire Business Two Short Short Stories

As part of a Legion APA I belong to we were asked to write a legion story of 100 words only. So I did. I then also wrote one of 50 words.

I thought I might share them with you here

Fire and smoke fill the command centre, dust drifts down loosened by distant explosions. Computer screens flicker.
“Cough cough…last report, cough, …….XS, Timber Wolf and Triad all dead. I don’t know if you can hear me……”
A huge explosion destroys the steel door.
Through the hole stride ten Khundian warriors, Cosmic Boy tries to stand but a punch knocks him back to his seat.
“So cur, at last this war ends, as does the mighty Legion”
The storm troops raise their guns
Cosmic Boy whispers “Imra”
Death spits it sting from ten gun barrels
And so the final darkness falls.

followed by a 50 word attempt

A star burns bright. It is alone; it has no children to call its own.
A threshold opens. Through it a Legion Cruiser appears.
“No life here” say’s B5 “move on”
As the cruiser departs a solar flare shoots up into the emptiness
“I’m here” it cries “Don’t leave me”

Congratualtions, Faraway! Those were super! And you could expand them beyond these "first chapters". Hint, hint, hint.

(Don't know if I'd like an APA that gives me homework....)

Thanks FC. I may just do that.

As for getting homework, well to be honest I am a pretty lazy writer. I need the deadlines to focus my energies. Plus it can be a good way to get new ideas.

Having said that I just put up another much longer story, which I hope you like.

Faraway, those were both very nice, almost haiku-like in prose... but they were both SO SAD!!!

Darden, you oughtta post some of your earlier work here for the folks who haven't seen it. It's really quite impressive, folks!

Those were great. BUt I hve to echo the sentiments that they were both sad.

I would like to see expanded versions, though.

Well I guess I was just in a dark mood when I wrote these. But I am pleased you like them.
