It was a light week for me, so I was paging through some books I don't normally buy and saw the "Whatever happened to Captain Carrot" banner on the current Titans book (#31?). Noticing that it was a two-parter, and being a fan of both Captain Carrot and the "Whatever happened to..." backups from way back when, I picked up the previous issue as well.

What exactly was the point of this? Just to show that Earth-C was a grim'n'gritty place too? I don't think of myself as a stupid person, but I don't understand the subtext. I'm not a regular Titan's reader, maybe it parallels what's going on in the book? (I kinda skimmed the Titan parts...) This isn't a gripe or a whine, I just don't get it.

I have to admit being a little bothered by the outcome, but I still enjoyed the little visit to the Captain Carrotverse.

I thought the whole thing was a parody of the desire for fictional comic universes to be absolutely realistic as voiced by the murderer's rant at the end.

Nothing to do with Titans per se, but more the whole industry and especially the post-crisis DCU.

It would have been interesting to learn if DC itself was lampooned on Earth-C (like Earth-Prime's rendition of writing and artistic staffers, but in a more lighter, "comic" vein)...

I enjoyed seeing the Zoo Crew again (though NOT the ending), but I, too, was confused by what it was doing in "Titans." They could have done it in any book, really, so maybe Rhino was right. They realized early on they only had about 1 1/2 issues of story and instead of padding it out like all the other books do (some would have made that a whole six-issue arc), they found a cool idea for some filler.

I'd love to see a CC book again, though we'd have to retcon that out of the timeline. That was a crappy way to treat the character. Though I guess if you're a third-tier character these days, you can't expect to be treated well.
